Don't fret. Any private server for MapleStory; Royals or not will give you false positives based on the way they need to edit the .exe to connect to a different server. You have no need to worry.

are you sure? Its not even like "hmm this looks suspicious", its like "WARNING INFECTED TROJAN AHEAD" and ive never gotten false positives before

i know there are like 70 people online right now, but i thought maybe something happened to the download file very recently since i just did it last night

o well ill run it but back up a system restore just in case

avg flagged it on my computer as well. it has happened with just about every private server i've played on (maplestory and others) it's a false positive.

to give you a little more technical explanation: "A false positive, also known as a false detection or false alarm, occurs when an antivirus program detects a known virus string in an uninfected file. The file, while not infected with an actual virus, does contain a string of characters that matches a string from an actual virus.

A false positive can also occur when a program performs an action, which appears to the antivirus program to be a virus-like activity."

Antivi programs detect it as malicious because there is an IP adress in the file, which is usually included in malicious software. In our case, without that IP adress, we can't connect to the server.
