Info MapleRoyals Mac Client

Was so happy when I saw this, but after downloading Client and replacing ClassicMS.exe, once i run the Maplestory application, it just pops up as a black screened window. which says MapleStory - Wine Desktop up top.

Am i meant to have anything previously installed on my Mac for this to work.
ive got the latest Macbook air, which runs games fine

 

I am currently trying to find a fix for this. After downloading Wine nothing changed, but I think I know how to fix it. I will keep you updated as soon as I know if it works or not.

 

Okay, I found a fix for this. It's fairly easy so you everyone should be able to do it. If you still have questions feel free to ask / PM me.

I'm fairly sure this problem only occurs with people who have newer versions of a mac OS (10.7.5 , 10.8.2 or newer), if you want to check which version you have click the Apple icon in your left top corner and click on "About This Mac". Here you'll be able to see the current version.

First things first, follow the guide as Matt posted it.

1) Download MapleStoryMac.zip (1.2GB) & Download MapleRoyals.exe (7MB)

2) Rename MapleRoyals.exe to ClassicMS.exe and place in /MacStory.app/Contents/Resources/drive_c/Nexon/MapleStory/

3) Download Wineskin Winery (currently version 1.7) http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php?page=Downloads

4) Once downloaded open what you just downloaded. It should look something like this

5) First you'll need to update your Wrapper Version to Wineskin-2.5.9 (or newer)

6) I'm not sure this step is necessary but I did it anyway. Install an engine by clicking the + icon. I've selected the first engine in the list and clicked Download and Install.

7) Now go to the Maplestory.app you downloaded (Step 1/2), right click it and click on Show Package Contents. You'll be in a folder with 2 subfolders and a Wineskin icon. Open the wineskin in this folder and click on advanced.
Go to the Tools tab and under Wrapper Tools you'll see the option to Update Wrapper.
Do this twice! (even though it might say update isn't necessary)


8) You're all done now, close Wineskin and try and run Maplestory.app
(It might take 2 or 3 tries to run it the first time if you followed the steps correctly but it should work)

I've been trying to log in, but it won't recognize my newly registered name as well as guest login, I'm wondering if this is a mac related issue?

 

Did you register on royals.ms or on the forums only? You need to use the account you created on our website (NOT the forums).

I had this same problem, if it persists, you need to redownload the game under the downloads page on royals.ms these links are outdated.

Hey! I searched for my name in google and found this. Sweet! Glad there's another private 0.62 MS server besides ClassicMS. Hope the port is still working and you guys can enjoy it! Have fun!

 

I remember the day you released the Mac port on Classic. Was it like August 2012? Man does time fly. Classic was such a god awful server back then. I think it was around that time was when it was crashing like crazy. I doubt that you'd still recognize me, but as one of the former CMS quasi-GMs who was there during that time, sorry that your experience on that server sucked. If I remember correctly, you lasted like a week or two max lol. Regardless, I speak for all of us at NobleStory (and I'm sure Royals, Classic, and Altruism as well) when I say thanks so much for making the port. Even though it was originally only made for Classic, I think nearly all v.62 servers use your port now

Hi, Um I was wondering to try out a private server because I recently got a Mac and heard Private Servers are better than the global server; however when I go to the download tab and download the client for Mac it only gives me the client when I extract it. I tried looking everywhere in the folder but I don't get wine or something..Can someone please help me? I would love to try out this server
Edit: Never mind I fixed this downloading the Wine from the page before

 

We have actually been having some problems, like black screen dc's at Zakum and other maps, do you know any potential fixes?
