Try, at least try, to remain somewhat comprehensive. If v62 is so much better - why not give me ONE argument? That should be easy enough?

I didn't say v83 is hands down the best version ever and that v62 sucks, all I said was v83 is still nostalgic and it offers so much more without being 'game-breaking'.

How am I a hypocrite? Several times in my post there are words like "for myself", "personally", "in my opinion" - as opposed to (quoting you) "the people who simply ruined the server for them selfs just because their bored because they play the game too much". These words were used by me in an effort to further point out that it's MY PERSONAL OPINION rather than me assuming what everyone else thinks, wants and what their reasons for being bored/not playing are.

OK, cool, you have a life - I have one too. I spend my time differently than yours, though. Not that what other people do with their lives should matter to you. My "play max 4 hours a day" was a somewhat sarcastic remark on the fact that you and Kris kept (and keep?) going on and on and on and on and on and on and on about how some people are bored simply because they are playing too much.

And no, there really isn't enough to do when you reach a high level - which you do quite quickly (as David said earlier, a casual player who ISN'T level 16x+ in a few months is surprising). It's not because they play the game too much, it's because there really isn't a lot of high level content.

That could be solved in a few ways;
1) v83 because more high level/end game content.
2) lower rates so people level slower because you're supposed to be a lower level in v62 (hence the lack of end game/high level content)
3) Other options that I haven't thought of



& Kris, just because I'd like some more content doesn't mean I OMG I MUST HAVE THIS CONTENT PLEASE. Have you seen the name of this forum section? Feedback? Go figure.

Again, you're remarking on how much people are playing (even if you say you aren't) - it really is none of your business and shouldn't matter to you. And well, as opposed to a 'from A to B'-game or a TV show, MapleStory doesn't really have an ending. So that simile is kind of faulty.

Oh, I totally understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion - so am I. That's how it works. I accept and respect your opinion(s), but that doesn't mean I can't dispute them or voice my own, now does it?

As I quite clearly stated in my first post in this thread, I'm unsure as to what I want, which is why I'm not really suggesting anything - just voicing my thoughts.

 

Can we make a survey/poll about this?

I personally think that increasing the lvl cap would't be nice, because it won't change the unbalanceness.

Whipe the Server and reduce the rates could be nice, IF we get a lot high lvl content and other things which are worth to do them like PQ with some prices or whatever.

Change to a different version + whipe would be awesome, plus if there are some areal's you don't like you could just block them out. I guess v83 is pretty nostalgic too imo.

And about how the server is right now and v62 is so awesome, well I like it too. But the first thing you do here is a Bishop. 1-160 in 5 days, easys made, did it a week ago. Then you choose a job and what you do? You selfleech yourself... till 140 and then, you get bored.

 

So far, everyone wanting v83 has provided an argument backed up by facts, while most of the people not wanting v83 just yell "ITS NOT NOSTALGIC GUISE, AMG, V83 IS SHIT STOP PLAYING 14 HRS A DAY LEL"

Kris, according to your welcome post, you joined 1 week ago, and you say you work 2 full time jobs, and you're level 83 already? Where the fuck do you get off bashing people for playing too much? That right there shows just how EASY it is to level. No challenge in leveling + lack of end game content = bored server. Matt, throw a poll up so we can end the ignorant turds saying "I speak for a majority of the server when I say that my opinion is right and everyone else is wrong." Still waiting on that argument about why v62 is better besides "if you want v83, go play a v83 server" because that one has already been ran into the ground.

In what way is "go play v83 if you want v83" the most logical reply to the question "How/Why is v62 better than v83"?

V63-64: Magatia and Magatia PQ.
* Not less nostalgic than Ariant, which I don't hear many complaining about.

V65-67: CWKPQ, quest/inventory system improvements, new quests, Monster Book, Family System.
* I don't see anything that ruins the nostalgia, either. Just don't add family if people would rather stay orphans.

V70: EXP change (not sure what that means, is that the new exp curve?)

V72: Temple of Time, level 120 equips, Title System (?), Ellin Forest PQ, Scissors of Karma.
* Personally I would prefer Scissors of Karma to be removed from the game if the server were to update to V72 or beyond.

V73: Knights of Cygnus (and BoF), Maker skill, Vicious Hammer NX item, elemental wand changes (nerfed for bishops?), new quests.
* Same as Scissors of Karma on V72 but with Vicious Hammers.

V75: Mu Lung Dojo (and belt slot), Monster Carnival 2.
* Mu Lung Dojo is an any-level content with great long-term rewards = really good.

V77: Malaysia, Targa & Scarlion, Haunted House II, more medals, Balrog Boss PQ easy/hard.
* OK, I can see why Malaysia isn't very nostalgic, but at the same time I wouldn't call it nostalgia-breaking. It adds more spots to grind at which would be great now that the server is getting more crowded.

V80: Aran, party exp from 60/40 to 80/20, new quests, Mushroom Castle.
* The changed party formula in addition to ele wands being nerfed will put an end to the bishops leeching everyone and everything (for those of you who mind this.)

V81: Monster Survival... which I think is Nett's Pyramid PQ?

V83: Kerning Square, Neo City, improved quick slot (customisable afaik), Dimensional Mirror.

That's about it. I don't see how or why this completely ruins the nostalgia for you. I wouldn't oppose removing some things such as (definitely) SoK and Hammers, and also maybe things like family, dimensional mirror, Kerning Square, Mushroom Castle, etc.

All this is just a suggestion and an attempt to understand why people cringe as soon as v83 is mentioned. If you'd like to discuss these updates, or what could be removed or kept if we were to update to v83 - then please do so in ways other than "omg v83 sux y u no understand v62 better???".

 

if you don't like the server, just leave already. If it's too easy for you, go find a harder one. This server isn't meant for everyone, and if it doesn't suit you, quit trying to change it. the server isn't the problem, you are.

Well, what lvl are you in game? Reach a high lvl and u will realize u have nothing else to do. Why is the fastest way to lvl up to get leech from a Bishop?? Thats just boooooooooooooooring, sorry.

try playing normally as in grinding normally instead of trying to find the quickest ways to get everything done. no wonder you're all bored. nothing is going to change if you change the server. you will all just find the quickest wy to get to a high level, then you'll all get bored and whine some more and well have another thread just like this.

I came here to play old-school Maplestory. I came here to experience the ways of old, and to make friends, and do everything that is offered here. I have done that. Matt proposed a change, and I gave my 2 cents, which quite a few people seem to agree with me on. If you don't like a v83 upgrade, then YOU fucking leave. Don't come here for a week, get to 8x leeching, and try to talk like you know whats best for the server and start telling people to go play somewhere else. Not saying my idea is the best either, but at least I'm trying to improve the server instead of sitting back saying everything is alright when you can clearly see the opposition to the current system blatantly spelled out for you.

Okay, I'm so over this fighting, you people need to calm down, I'm speaking my own dam option too. And your the one who started this whole thing because your being ignorant. And who's to say your opinion should mean anything more or less if you play alot or don't. You guys are saying we're whining about how much you play, but your over here talking about how little other people play, shut the hell up. I was never saying that people shouldn't play as much as they want to. And I'm trying to say, I don't think there should be a wipe because people are sick of v.62. (And I don't feel like explaining every positive of v.62) v.83 is when I started not to like ms as much for many reasons. And I don't feel like I need to explain every single one of them but basically it's because people are too op in v.83. And to me does not feel like the good oldschool ms like it should be.
And honestly whats so great about v.83.
They're over used and buggy, they may have a little more content. But what content does it have that people actually care about other than tot, and pb..
And we can always get content and makeup for dojo.(a custom bosspq)

Don't lower the rates :O Rather increase it to 12x or 15x As many people are easily demotivated.

A wipe and change to v.83 sounds good, except you'd be competing with the higher ranked server, DestinyMS. Personally I think we could draw a crowd from that server onto our server with the wipe, as they don't have the amazing "NX-drop" feature

However, I only support this if you can get a fully working GPQ, LPQ, LMPQ, +++ And all other features.
