After 2 hours of coach and a failed run (dced after legs), i finally learned how to lead in Horntail ( i think). But i dont know if my damage is too low for a 6 man party, i'm afraid of being blacklisted cuz of that. My damage on apple + mw10 + se + si (I was soloing krex cuz my partner dced ) If my damage is too low, let me know if u have some idea on what range goal i should be looking for as paladin. (Also, idk if i have enough hp for being a sed with/without hb)
Your damage is fine but imo you're better off HTing with friends opposed to the strangers who will blacklist somebody for not being up to their standard of strength. I'd much rather boss with 6 people who are cool and understanding opposed to some snotty cock suckers who flip shit over how much damage you're doing, if you DC, have to brb, whatever it may be. Even if you did meet their strength standard, is somebody that uppity the type of person you want to run with in the first place?
u can try asking ur guild/friends to bring u along 1st if u arent familiar with how to do ht n sed n stuff ur hp doesnt rly matter as much for sed as long as the bish isnt a mule. if u hvnt alr gotten it, get heros will. (i brought a 1st timer 15k hp hero to ht b4 as a sed n he survived so dont be too worried about it ) hmm... damage wise, u shldnt rly worry too much abt it. while there are obviously gonna be ppl who are opposed to bringing low range ppl, there are also gonna be ppl who dont care since u can do sed n u hv crash. but like wat the other 2 said, u're better off recruiting urself, just try n familiarise urself with the ht mechanics 1st. else theres gonna be some idiot blowing up saying ure a noob ldr n shit ur lvl is still quite low so u can take ur time to upgrade ur gears anyways
Just run with your friends and guildmates. I used to host HT runs and would take my friends any day without even asking for their range as long as they can survive HT and are willing to put up with possibly long runs. After all, this game should be about helping each other build your characters up and forging friendships along the way. Who cares if it's a 2h HT run if everyone's enjoying each other's company. Also, your range seems fine to me - don't worry about it too much. As for being sed in HT, anyone can sed as long as they can survive the whole run. Just pay extra attention to sed timings and have your hero's will ready in case of emergencies. You'll be just fine
Damage snobs should be run out of this community. It flies in the face of what a pre bb private server should be. This place isnt part of a competitive esport, we're not here to set world speed run records, were here to have fun and relive our nostalgia. More community building, less solo player zerg style max deeps mentality
Months ago i was in the same position as you with my hero, nobody would recruit her so i started hosting with my friends, we all were new into HT and its mechanics, fun times and long never ending runs, however we learned something new every run and times started improving, suddenly i wasn't using 10 apples per run but 7 and then 5-4 I learned how to seduce and handle myself, the BS learned how to def, take timers, this bowman with low HP learned where to stand, when to will during mass sed, etc, etc, etc. Unfortunately most of my friends from then are gone by now but that's another story. You aren't the only one in that "player tier", there's someone bound to be in the same situation just look till you find people you feel confortable to run with and try to make a daily group to get started, also like everyone above said, screw range-checking. More important than range, learn the mechanics.
I'm currently a level 152 bishop who's only "experience" with horntail is buying my pendant so I'm not entirely sure how my first time actually tackling this boss will go in terms of being recruited as people understandably prefer an experienced bishop and me looking into guides on the forum can only get me so far. I wholeheartedly agree with the other replies you've gotten here. Better to have longer runs that are actually enjoyable as opposed to getting called out for your damage or deal with players who can't comprehend the fact that someone who hasn't run this boss much before isn't going to be an expert regarding all of the mechanics. I started running Zakum before level 135 (no exp for me) simply for the fun of it and some players made sure I was aware of the fact I wouldn't be getting any exp while recruiting me or were even surprised when I told them I was doing it for fun. As mentioned above, this is a pre-bb server. This server is of a version of the game where zakum expedition squads contained 20 people and would still take 2 hours at a time. I never got to experience bosses back in GMS (my highest level character was a level 74 mage) so you best believe I don't care about ranges and would actually rather not do boss runs if I know someone's going to be a toxic crybaby. On that note if you / anybody viewing this thread wants to organize a run and wouldn't mind having me on board, hmu! With me selling leech in ulu 2, I'll probably reach 155 soon enough. I've already unlocked Hero's Will as well
The main issue with being a bs in HT is that the mechanics makes it very dangerous for a 1st timer as the run can be killed by the bs not doing their job, or the bs dying to dispels etc...its a shame black cats HT is dead cos that was where I was able to learn the basics. Maybe you could try asking friends/parties if you could just tag along without getting xp/splits to get an idea of whats going on & what to look out for in a run. Imo that's pretty much the only chance for anyone to learn how to ht as a bs now... On the main point of discussion, yes in theory its better to not care about range, and I've taken plenty of friends along for runs regardless of range, and was taken on runs despite my range (still happens tbh). But if we're talking about public runs with (mostly) strangers, I think its pretty understandable that people care about your range, since the point of doing the run is for profit/xp, so that's honestly a mindset that not only won't be changed, but is almost illogical to change. Long story short, run with guildies/buddies that would join you because of your friendship and not because of your "strength"
Since they don't like arch mages to join boss squads i made myself a DK. First time warior char for me cause ididn't feel like spending way to long selling leech to buy apr for a sin or bowmaster. First time close range for me! why DK simply to be sure that when Pink bean is released i will surely have enough hp to take him down too. I just wanna have fun and enjoy all content/bosses without begging for a place in a boss squad. For now I have a friendly guild who does bossruns not to beat the best time but just for fun! And FUN is for me what maple is all about! Damage wise i like HIGH numbers but i don't realy focus to hard on it!
