I would also like to know if this was just bug fixes/removable of duplicate items or actual new content!
Some new items were added, go check through it. Some of them are pretty cool and cute too...My fav is one of the new hats.
May I ask why there wasn't decided to use the "New" tag on newly added items? I've added that option exactly for a reason like this, an update. It would be a lot more clear what is new and what not. Edit: this would also make sure the "New" items are listed before the other items, so even more convinient. Also, why is the Harp Seal labeled with "Sale"? Will the pet cost more than 20 RP in the forseeable future, or even get removed from the list again?
Afraid I don't' know the answers to your questions, Gi, as I'm not the one who updated it or touched any of the coding. If it wasnt a question directly aimed at me, then my bad. However, I can go through and try to make a list of what's new just for the sake of it.

I think changing the items to show the New tag just didn't cross our minds. Katsuruka added the new items to the CommodityWorker and it took me a while to figure out how to get it to work. It wasn't until very late that we found out that the script was only writing the donor nodes for packages and not for single items - So this caused us a bit of trouble. We would need to release a new .wz edit to get them to show up as 'new' now unfortunately.
It would only be an optional download, if it were released. Also, Etc.wz is a small file, nothing as major as redownloading an entire Map.wz. I would download such new file. Late edit, I noticed the Big teeth are in the donor shop twice, and also the Santa Boy Overall is in there.
