Hello there, I was banned on September 6 for harassment, I believe it was due to me sacking people at Ulu City Center for fun. I kept track of who I sacked just so I was sure not to sack the same person multiple times as I did not intend on harassing anyone. This seems like it could qualify as Objectionable Behavior (Disruption), since I did cause a disruption to the individuals around me, but I don't believe it was in any way excessive given the fact that I did not sack too many people, neither did I target (a) specific individual(s).





I made sure not sack the same person twice, and I have done so throughout the entire time I spent on MapleRoyals. Sacking people is quite the nostalgic experience for me, as I have done this many times in the past during the old days of GMS. Royals is advertised as nostalgic and gms-like; for me sacking people from time to time reminds me of the days of when I used to sack people with my buddies, and had lots of fun.

Most populated servers competing with royals do not have sacks enabled, and so that was one of the features that made me choose royals over these less-nostalgic servers that did not provide the experience I was seeking. Sacking people could potentially bother/upset some people, however I didn't think it qualified as disruptive behavior nor harassment since sacks are enabled in these maps, and leechers have a choice to afk on ropes.

I did not target the same area for extended periods of time, nor the same people which I kept track of through screen-shots. I also used a few sacks in Kerning City, The Dragon Nest Left Behind, and Henesys once or twice just for fun as to avoid targeting a specific map.

Sorry for wasting your time with a somewhat trivial matter, I would suggest some type of addition to a rule clarifying restrictions on how sacks can be used.

You were banned for Disruption and not Harassment as it was not targeting any specific player.
Purposefully using Summoning Sacks to cause a detriment to other players, whether seldom or often, is still disruptive to their gameplay choices.
Quantifying your actions as less than excessive does not change the fact that it was negatively impacting many other players, and apparently you have been doing this for some time to have so many documented cases.
I'm not sure what enjoyment is coming to you from these actions, but I'd like you to think about how you would feel if you had your work (even if it's just spending mesos for leech, they worked for those mesos) taken away from you for no reason other than being in the 'wrong' place at the 'wrong' time.
We are all trying to influence as positive of an experience as possible for all players, and don't feel that these actions you took condone the community's outlook.

 

I have been doing this for quite some time In GMS and in other servers, however I haven't done it in royals until I informed myself by asking some some high level players whether sacking unsuspecting people was allowed or not.

It's more due to the nostalgic aspect and having that little flashback experience we all seek from this beautiful old 2003 mushroom game. Regarding the inconvenience towards the people whom where afk-leeching, I do think it's slightly unusual that leechers are being considered a protected class simply due to a economic transaction. I thought the individual was the one responsible for their own character whilst in the game. In The nostalgic world of MapleStory I know, there is a risk every time you walk away from your keyboard while logged in. That is a risk you take when you decide not to play the game you signed up for and get someone else to do it for you.
I didn't know that dangerous high level maps were excluded from this in Royals, nor did I come to believe that those specifically engaged in a transaction were protected in this way.
From the lack of clarifications in the rules regarding the use of sacks, since the use of sacks isn't limited in these maps, and the fact that the players I sacked weren't map owners, it seemed to me as indifferent from simply sacking noobs in a town for fun, which is how sacks are meant to be used.

For a lot of people, using sacks to mess around and troll people who were too lazy to hang on to a rope is a positive experience, though these things are very subjective as some people cannot view sacking others as fun, and I respect that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and I seek to abide by the rules MapleRoyals has in place, I just did not know that you could get banned for using a tool in the game in the way that it was meant to be used.

 

Leechers aren't a "protected class". They are people that are trying to level up, and summoning boss sacks on them, causing them to lose up to 10% of exp gained is a great inconvenience and counts as game disruption. This only applies for areas outside of towns, as you only lose 1% maximum in town and are usually not actively trying to level there. We're trying to keep this server's atmosphere as positive as we can, and if we let people go around annoying players by summoning monsters to kill them or their party members while they're trying to level, it's not a very fun experience is it?

 

Understandable, I disagree with the measure of banning sacks outside towns but I respect the server's decision. Would be nice to have a clarification somewhere, or some mechanic in place so players would be aware that they cannot use summoning sacks outside of towns; the use of sacks in training maps does not seem to be indicated as an infringement of Mapleroyal's Game Terms & Conditions, so this ban came as quite a surprise to me. A few other servers have disabled the use of sacks specifically outside of towns which seems to me as an interesting way to solve this issue.
Once again sorry for wasting your time, I'll refrain from sacking people outside of towns in the foreseeable future.

 

Just to clarify, those screenshots weren't from Royals, I have only started sacking people yesterday in this server until I realized that It was forbidden (outside of towns) from word of mouth of a gm. I understand however that the Objectionable Behavior rule is vague enough for it to justify my ban, so I guess I have no say. Thanks for the quick replies though.
