I'll preface this post by saying that I appreciate every member of staff. I just wanted to give feedback on the latest chimney jump quest, because it was really infuriating. There is little to no testament of skill when there are hundreds of characters all vying for tiny platforms. That coupled with players who spam non-stop and wear flashy NX, there just aren't enough pixels on the screen for me to jump without relying on muscle memory. The only way I see that event being possible is if I were to open a video of how the map layout looks on another monitor to get past the hoard of players. If an event like this is going to be hosted in the future, could you please consider the possibility of automatically undressing everyone (like coconut harvest) and disabling their pets? Edit: This gives me flashbacks to the time when that toy factory jump quest was hosted. It was also not enjoyable for the same reasons.
What we can do now is close the entrance after a fixed number of players is in the map. Dressing everyone up the same like in Coconut Harvest won't make things better imo.
I'm concerned that if the number of players are limited, it defeats the purpose of engaging the community in events. I agree whole-heartedly with your coconut harvest comment. I was just grasping at straws at what could be done to make it better. Edit: Actually I need to respectfully disagree a bit on the point of undressing people like coconut harvest. I believe NX is a big issue in jump quest events and disabling them would help a lot. I don't know the name of the particular NX items, but those ones where your character is surrounded by a big purple/blue cloud are really distracting. That and when the player jumps, it becomes even bigger and blocks the entire platform.
Make the map like the Showa Town Sauna, the one that takes all the clothes off people. But just with the NX stuff. I think that would be helpful. No idea what that entails in coding though, so, just a suggestion.
Like I said in my previous post, I don't think this suggestion will make things any better. In fact it was discussed within staff and it didn't really seemed feasible which is why nothing's done. On average our events usually have 100-300 players (the most I had was almost 400+ in a single map). I can't imagine how confusing/messy it would be if everyone looked the same in terms of outfit. Many times we depend on visuals to see who's doing what, and if everyone looks the same, then it makes it harder for us to do what we're supposed to do. From player point of view, you'd probably have a hard time figuring out where your character is. So I still think the most feasible solution for such events is to limit the number of players -- first come first serve, limited to the first X players, maybe 100.
A stricter rule is needed for people who chat spam in JQ events. Despite the early warning from a GM not to spam, countless people were spamming nonsense with chat boxes big enough to cover platforms above them. This was more disturbing and distracting than any colorful nx or pets. There were at least 5 GMs in the event map who could have regulated the chat spam but nothing was done, maybe because it wasn't specified in the beginning. I hope something can be done in the future to prevent such fiasco.
I doubt that dressing out characters alike, disabling pets or chat would help with anything when the matter of fact is, this map wasn't designed for what it was used for during the GM event. It's just not designed to have 200+ people trying to climb it as fast as possible nor it's a good fit for a GM event because of how it plays when you are in a large group of people, Eliminating skill cap and leaving you frustrated. Compare that to the rush of accomplishment you feel when you score top 3 at Fitness. Since its not the first time Staff experiment with different Jump Quests as GM events, And they have made an amazing map for the previous event, Hopefully, Once time allows them and AntiCheat would no longer be a priority, they would be able to stretch their creative muscles and design something functional new and exciting for us. Until then, Yall can find me slapping coconuts.
I couldn't agree more, I really like jump quests but yesterday unfortunately saying, it was an unpleasant experience where I felt I couldn't use my real potential, yes if I focused more on muscle memory I would have been having more of a chance, but personally, that's not how I enjoy jump quests, I enjoy being precise and consistent and I felt like I couldn't do any of that, there were two people that spammed chat with the Christmas ring and you literally couldn't see anything, it hid like 2 bricks worth of height, hence why I agree that the main issue was the chat spam and not the nx, yes nx has effects but it can't even be compared to a chatbox that simply hides your entire character, I would think that maybe sending each player to a map of their own would be a solution, but this would probably require hard work AND will defeat one of the main purposes of an event in the first place which is to unite many players together, so I really do not see any other solution other then limiting it to fewer players and muting chat when it starts. don't get me wrong, I like the chimney theme and really hope that we will get access to this area someday, whether if it's during an event or as a permanent addition but that is a whole different subject.
