Dear Royals community, I've joined the community myself back in 2014 and have played Maple GMS since 2007. I was one of the server pioneers, still holding the glorious Genesis Bandana in Mardia. Despite being pretty acknowledged with Maplestory gameplay itself, I have always enjoyed the Market aspect of MapleStory and lately thought of something that others might find useful as well. Spoiler: Why? Market Place supposed to be the most crowded map of all, a place where "@@@@@@" is the only text you see. Extensive hours in front of the screen, just to snag that perfect deal of yours. Well, then you have the amazing forum [MARKET PLACE] in Royals, that solves the problem of too few people actually being active in the FM. But the intensity, the solid format and the spam are lacking, while delivering a phone accessible platform. Also, people tend to post mostly precious items, while neglecting other interesting pieces as sometimes it is just not worth the time it takes to post and wait for a buyer. Another aspect is searching for a specific item. Owls being 3mil meso each deliver somewhat disabled results, displaying only items up-to Max meso of worth. So currently the Market situation as I see it is: [Items below max meso in game OWL] + [Items above max meso in Forum]. Why not make the most out of 2020 and move forward? Improve the fun aspect of the market by allowing you to dial it up? Spoiler: How? It is possible to make one platform to deliver an online Market for Royals. A place where people can get notified when an item they are searching for is available, or just auction your items directly from the Mobile phone or a Desktop Browser with ease. By using the Angular Technology, it is possible to create a cross platform web, automatically scaling the design between mobile and desktop to deliver a more native experience to each. Spoiler: what? It delivers a platform where you can register and verify an account, bind it to your ingame character name and start to auction your items. Also, you are always able to search for items to buy by using the SEARCH bar, it will display top 10 or whatsoever best options (Lowest s/b or c/o) When your item is being bet on or a/w you get a notification to your mobile device, keeping you acknowledged 24/7 of the market situation. Spoiler: Example please, Here is a simple presentation of abilities, created by raw Paint.exe, so don't judge the design please. Design, colors, images, borders will all change during development if the community sees this as a useful tool. Spoiler: Auction Board The auction board lists all items by "First-come-First-served" scheme, similar to Royals Market Place posts. It displays general information about what is sold, for how much and how long. Using the search option will filter the results for you, similar to an owl. But without revealing the location of the item.* *optional, can add an area for sellers to submit their shop location. Spoiler: Click on auction item If the user is registered and has logged in, Auction items become clickable. Revealing more information as well as allowing you to bid by sliding. Slide increases by the amount the seller has set, up until A/W. Also, you get to see the ign of the CurrentOffer if available. Otherwise shows only S/B. Click "SET BID!" and the seller as well as CurrentOffer get notified about it. (These notifications are optional per seller Toggle ON/OFF) Spoiler: Your Auction items This tab displays the items you have listed. By clicking one of them, the item gets expanded for more options. SELL TO - button is designed for selling items quicker, if the a/w hasn't been reached yet. Lets say you have placed an item that worth 500m, your a/w is 600m and the current offer by "SomeGuy" is 450m. You decided that 450m is fair enough, You hit that SELL TO button and "SomeGuy" gets a notification that his offer has been accepted for trade, item then removed from auction board. EDIT PRICE- button is for price changes. If no C/O has been set yet, you can change the S/B and the A/W. If there is a C/O only A/W can be changed, if A/W is changed, the CurrentOffer is given the option to drop his current bid and also gets a notification. BUMP BUTTON- efficient bumping in my opinion is every 4 hours, therefore 6 times a day. This button becomes available to press 4 hours after last click or post time. This moves your listing to the top of the Auction Board. Spoiler: Removing an item from auction If for whatever reason you wish to delete your listed item you can do so by clicking on remove in the details tab of the item. If there was already a C/O the owner of that C/O gets notified about the cancellation with a detailed reason from the seller, item then removed from auction board. If no C/O item gets simply removed without reason. This makes the perfect ground for separation between sellers, and pleasant sellers. Spoiler: Sell New Item button If you wish to auction a new item, just click on "SELL NEW ITEM" button in "My Items" tab. Enter the item name until you see the right image appears, Image is automatically selected by text you enter. For scrolls just put 10% 30% 60% 70% 100% 100%e and the right image will appear. Also, ones the item is located in the Database, only the relevant stats to fill will be present. For scrolls and potions I might not implement the stats unless requested. After that you chose the S/B and A/W, if you enter the same amount, INCREASE RATE will be disabled and your item will be listed as "Buy now" item without the option to increase bid. Increase rate is to set how much minimum of bid increase you are interested in, Max Increase rate is (A/W -S/B)/2, minimal is 1% of A/W -S/B. Auction time is either 24h, 48h or 72 hours. Might add 1 week if needed. Fill in the stats of your item and hit PUBLISH. New new published item will appear on top of Auction Board and last in line in your personal items. Also, when you Publish, a notification is sent to people who are looking for that item, with stats Filter applied. All these will be working on the mobile phone as well, but the design will be resized and changed to fit the mobile automatically by PWA technology. This allows you to trade during the bus ride, your visit to the toilet and even during your dog walk. PriceGraph tab will display the value of each item you enter in the searchbox, Same as using the PriceGuide on forum but instead rely on prices that the items were sold at, showing you a graph of time and price change. What do you think guys, would it be a useful fan made tool? To make clear! - keep questions coming IT neither replace the existing Market forum, nor touch the game market in anyway. It's just an additional tool to let busy people advertise their stuff. Ones trade is done the seller gets the IGN of the buyer and the price he has to pay. The buyer gets the sellers IGN and item stats he/she should get. They still need to login into game for the actual trade to happen. It is supposed to help find buyers and sellers quicker and with more ease.
As long as this doesn't outright remove Free market like in original maple. I'm here because I don't want to play original maple lol
If understand right, you're just suggesting to move the Market Place category to a standalone application. Well, it could be nice (though I guess that's one of the forum purposes). But if you mean for this application to behave as a replacement for the in-game Free Market, I'd say that completely destroys the way in-game marketing should be. (Obviously premising you did not mean to actually integrate between both applications, but let it just act as community-based)
Ohh guys, it doesn't replace anything. It's an additional tool you can use alongside the forum and MarketPlace in-game will never change. That's the whole nostalgic point. this tool just expands your ability to interact with items being sold over FM. Let's say you are not home and want to buy yourself some equipment, you can't login into the game and can't find what you are looking for in the forum. Then you can browse a stand alone platform, that allows the users to list their items that they sell in game. It's like extra layer of advertisement for sellers. And extra place to look for for buyers. Increasing the success for a trade. Also, it will have a price guide based on pure prices items are sold at rather than valued at. Hope it made it more clear. @Royale @Shiratsuyu
That's why I stated that I am an old maple pioneer myself as an opening. I quit the modern MS a bit after Bigbang. I truly love and much prefer the original feel of the maple. But I do see that the market itself is dead in game. People prefer to open shops and go leech/boss/quest. I don't see many traders camp and spam messages for long hours in the Free Market Entrance.
I mean, if it takes literally hours to sell something then I ain't gonna stay at FM entrance either. I'll set up a shop as well
That is because we are lacking more players, when the original had more than 20k simultaneous players you would enjoy the wave of free marketing. I did, super hype during V.36 of maple. You wouldn't put anything above max meso in shop in game, you would post it in forum right? Its not so easy to search for your items through the forum, the filtering system is a mess. What I try to deliver is simple. You get to enjoy your regular MapleStory sessions alongside the Foruming while benefiting from a free standalone platform in which you can post your items for sale online, that others can search for in a more convenient circumstances. Such as, work, walk outside, the restroom, during the shower and everywhere else where there is a cellular internet available. As this is a PWA application, works on mobile as if it was developed for mobile, but it is actually a mutated website. Also, wouldn't you trust a statistics based item prices more than 2 completely separate authors of current market state? Its meant to help, bother buyers and sellers to be more efficient at marketing. To perfect the missing few screws in the system.
