Yeah, I REALLY hope you don't wipe/change it around.

Not that it really matters, but that would be the end of my stay here.

either way, I hope whatever is decided/done is best for the majority of the community.

I've talked with you in length about how I feel about this on a personal level, but I want what is best for the server in the long run, and I feel like this is probably the only logical answer.

I really do not support the wipe or change to v83. I feel like fixing male boss spawn and adding APQ or BPQ would do a lot to the server. switching to v83 will take some time to learn and patch all the exploits that we have already fixed in v62. Also ive just put to much time into this server just to have it wiped.

100% do not support either of these ideas. Really sucks for the players who have actually been here a long time and put in work to be at the top that now we're put back down to the bottom just because some people cry that it's not fair.

 

exactly this. I've spent quite alot of time, and i haven't been here nearly as long as you. and because i was only here for v62.

EDIT : like i don't even know what to say to this. if this wipe occurs, i feel like i've literally just wasted quite a few hours of my life for nothing. i couldn't even imagine how some other people must feel.

I think it's a shame that you're letting the minority sway the decision to rip this awesome server away from those who love it.

and you're only taking into consideration the opinon of those who are regular forum users. many of the players in game don't even use the forums.

but again, I'm not trying to complain or whine, i just still can't quite comprehend why you change something that works. yes, a few people have quit recently, but more people will come, especially when we're the number 1 v.62 private server. the longer we are number 1, the more people we will get in. You will also be competing with plenty of low-rate v83 servers.

I really think this change would just be shooting yourself in the foot and killing your own server. I strongly recommend against this from what i've seen from servers doing these types of things in the past. unless it was a server that was dedicated to staying up-to-date with GMS.


again though, I know it's tough pleasing an entire community, and I'm glad you at least took the time to hear our opinions and votes before making a final decision. Sadly, the fact that you're wiping either way has basically terminated my stay here, as i will not want to put those hours back in, especially after this i wouldn't be able to trust that my progress would even stay.


but, no matter what the outcome, i really do hope your server pulls through

It's just a shame that the people who just started never actually got a chance to experience the server. All the other people who were here since day one, got a chance and now they are bored and don't want the rest of us to have that chance.

what is this nonsense about other players having an advantage? AN ADVANTAGE? in what way??

this isn't a PVP game, there isn't even a PVP mode. we work together, so if someone else has a good item, then it helps us too when we're fighting bosses together.

not to mention we see more and more people here every single day. if this server was as boring as some people are making it out to be, then our population wouldn't be slowly and steadily increasing.

No. Just no. MapleRoyals is the only best v62 ms server compared to others. And all of our hard effort leveling up will be wasted. NO .

 

my POV

Although I would like to have a go at a low rate v83 server- I wouldn't advocate a wipe for the following reasons.

A) Many of us here come for the v62 nostalgia- so a v83 server would effectively take away a sizable portion of the player base.

B) A wipe now (or in five months), would effectively ruin all thehard work, pain and effort many of the existing players have exerted into making high leveled characters with decent equips. (My NL T.T)

C) Many of the bugs are not fixed yet. I agree wholeheartedly that a wipe would be beneficial in the long run (and much more easier to implement then multiple servers), but in my honest opinion- it's rather depressing to talk about a wipe when so many things are lacking. Those who want a wipe are bored cos no endgame content/the bishop leeching problem/unfairness vis a vis OP-ed equips.

If GPQ, BPQ, Horntail the *****, all job skills, quests were fixed and fully functional, and people got bored- I'd understand, but not when a bunch of us have been waiting for stuff to happen. :<

Regarding the Bishop leeching problem: Clerics have always been traditionally the meso farming class (I was around in v.2x- and we were the richest hoes). Wizet nerfed Gene because of this.
I'd say decrease the leech exp, or nerf skele spawn to solve this.

My opinion: I'm strongly for Ty's POV (Go Ty you sexi beast you ) which he advocated in the post which got locked due to some childish halfwits turning it into a flaming war: That of two servers being implemented, instead of this current one. This one, and a new one for v83/lowrates/whichever.
The player base might be halved initially: but at the rate we're going, we'll definitely attract the other players from the low rate servers. E.g NobleMS/NSMS/Extalia, etc etc. Also, we average around 100-120 on a good day= half of that is still a lot for a private server.

Of course, two servers= more admins required/more time taken/twice the hassle- but with the manpower recently recruited/ppl who are willing to help- I'm sure this can be overcome. :<

IF and only IF a wipe HAS to be implemented- I'd suggest that you do c) first before doing a wipe (and give us a year at least to enjoy the server). Also- be warned that the playerbase will decrease by a huge amount. I came from NSMS, and it had 40 players before its wipe. Now- it's averaging 11 on a good day.

That being said- I'm really glad that you put the community first by bothering to talk about this.It is amazing that you're willing to listen to our POVs (as compared to a certain another owner who was a troll)
Also, to all those who put in dedication,blood, sweat and tears into this server- you have NO IDEA how grateful we are for maintaining this amazing server. I'm proud to be a Royaller- the community, the GMs, the owner is the best I've ever seen- so I hope this will be thought through carefully before any step is taken.


How I feel about a wipe

 

Here's my opinion and awesome suggestion, though the suggestion might be a little complicated.

I would definitely say the v83 change is a bad idea.
I know most people would have come to this server because it is a v62 low rate server, a lot of people, including myself, don't like v83 so much.
So I think if you change for v83 a lot of players will leave.

MY SUGGESTION:
Okay so basically we want to fix the gap between bishops and other classes and get more areas to train?
What about if we had 2 servers? Scania and Bera or whatever.
The current servers (Scania) would remain the same, or maybe have some minor changes or something idk.
But the new server (Bera) would be fresh and have lower rates, and also new areas to train, like how someone suggested earlier to have HH at the bottom of the Skele map, things like that.
I think a new server with changes that people want is a good way to go.

Now to be honest this is probably just as complicated as changing to v83 in terms of coding and I'm not sure if the server is powerful enough to actually handle 2 servers.
And I'm not sure if the Owner & co. will think it's worth buying more power for another server that a lot of people might not actually play.

But if there are 2 servers, that are slightly or maybe a lot different, players that are getting bored on the main server (Scania) can just relog and go into the other server where they can start fresh and with a few variations.

There's my opinion and suggestion anyway.

This is an excellent suggestion, and very well put.

as one of those childish halfwits, i whole-heartedly agree with every word you just typed out.

 

Let's be cereal here, there is no benefits on having our characters wiped out. Especially for reasons such as the high leveled characters are getting bored. It's the circle of life- old players leave, new players come in, its completely normal. Lowering the rates on a new server will only just make it harder and longer for us to achieve what we have already achieved= boring as hell= same situation we have right now but only delayed.

 

The only real advanage I see here is more content .
Now why don't you just add some PQ's such as Bpq, fix horntail and do some more Challenging monthly(or weekly) events (such as the sunshines and cakes events) that are acctually hard and / or request teamwork.

Also : Above the fact that I joined a V62 server , I joined a x10 exp server.
and with V83 I can l still live (maybe) but sadly not with x4...

 

I vote a definite no against the wipe and upgrading to v83.

However,some suggestions made above are interesting indeed,the rates are just fine,it doesn't have the tedious long grinding as lower rates would have yet it's not over-the-top high either,it's just in between. Exciting but still challenging.

I personally would love to see some added content,CWKPQ,BPQ etc etc. but other than that,it should stay the same.

I quit the original GMS/EMS years ago and I was looking for some nostalgia,I found this server through a friend and I quite enjoy it. The time and effort I've put into building my characters is well spent in my opinion and wiping it would just completely kill the interest of doing so again and most likely lead to a chunk of the community just finding something new.


Last but not least,the 'unfair' advantage isn't really showing at all,yeah older players are more funded in terms of mesos and equips but with a little patience newer players can easily get to that point aswell.
