Well to be fair 25 days out of 30 (You can't count the days the server was down as extra days) on a event where the NPC didn't give you a time estimate of when the 24hours were over until late December isn't really a positive change at all. If you'd super time it you would be able to turn in the event max 29 times. Also not everyone had the chance to start the event the first day. I don't want to be negative here but this is really bad guys. The whole thing with the orb is messed up and this quick fix is not a good one.
We only want players that have been actively taking part in the event to reap the rewards. This way it guarantees that anyone that has been trying hard in this event will be able to get the reward. Please also remember that we have not stated how long the event is being extended for yet.
Nor do I think the intent should be for everyone to participate and get their "trophy" so to speak. It's like playing in a tournament. You are not guaranteed to get a trophy or win, no matter how skilled you are. Luck also plays a part in the event and for some, they won't be lucky enough to earn the Orb.
I think that's exactly the intent - if you didn't really give 100% to the event, then you'll have to keep hoping for RNG. The change seems like it's just so that those who really did every possible thing to get the orb are going to get it. If you didn't make 25 attempts, then you have no one to blame but yourself.
Bumping this with a suggestion: Perhaps make the Orb buyable through the Maplemas Stars? That way you're still able to get the orb through your own effort, since you can't trade the Maplemas stars or the orb anyways, but still allows you to get the Orb if you started late (Like I myself did sadly. Gotten stretchy Material 4 times in a row so far....)
Haha I have 11 stretchy materials - I started late-ish too and took a mini break for a few days in the middle. In total, I've only tried 19 times so far. Do you know when the extension will go until? 6 more days pretty please?? Edit: Oops, just saw Kat's update thread on the extension. Welp - I hope I get lucky and just get the Orb then!
Ok ok, so how about this then? You have to admit that 20 days is a bit extreme, and all it does is replace luck with obsession. What with the server crashing all the time, holiday celebrations, and other things. I know while the server was crashing frequently, all I did was vote and do other things, because I couldn't play for more than a few minutes.
No, actually we extended the event to compensate for the lag and server instability that was occurring during this period. We have already made the compensation.
I might just be beating a dead horse here, but could it be brought down to 20 days instead of 25? Like I said before, it was the Christmas season, and some people might have been away from their computers for a few days Just sayin
The event ends tomorrow, so no, it's too late to make any more changes to it. You had over 35 days to attempt it- not even counting the couple days of downtime.
The problem with that analogy is that individual skill plays a massive difference maker in determining the outcome of a game whereas rolling a dice is completely random. Yes, you're not guaranteed to win but a professionally trained MMA fighter will beat an amateur with no fighting experience 9.9 times out of 10. Relying on something that's 100% RNG to determine whether someone will get the Orb is silly. Someone could have done the quest over a thousand times and still not get the Orb, it's highly unlikely but it still can happen. How is that any fair? Actually it's not too late to make changes. Just make the Orb tradable via accounts only on the last day so that people who have the Orb on mule character(s) can transfer it onto their main. The whole purpose of making the Orb untradable is to encourage player participation in the event and that's been accomplished already. People who have yet to get the Orb on their main have continued to do the quest in hopes of attaining one. It's not like the event reward is something overlooked like a cosmetic NX weapon, it's a legit equip in the game that grants +5 to all stats on a slot that isn't very common.
And it's also automatically rewarded to anyone who's done the quest 25 times. You had from December 10th until Tomorrow, January 18th, to do the quest. That's 6 and a half weeks for an event that was only initially going to last a month. You only needed to do the quest 25 times out of 38 days, with only about 3 days of total unplayable downtime you still had more than enough time to participate and get the reward. Be grateful we even changed the event to begin with. We saw something was unfair, so we made it fair. Hard work, in this case activity, pays off. We will, however, keep these things in mind for future events.
Oh I didn't repond to this thread to vent my frustration, I actually got the Orb within the first week of the event on all my characters. Also, I didn't know you automatically get the Orb after doing the quest 25 times, that's a good way to solve randomness. My point against what John said still stands, that comparison is horrible.
Should've made it purchaseable (is that a word?) for 10k stars or something, but oh well. Sadly my bishop is among the 5% of people who didn't get it. Lol. My 1 character I actually needed it on.
I just want to clarify that I'm not really frustrated about the event either. This game's too fun to get all bent out of shape over a silly face equip lol. I'm sure there's going to be other event equips similar to it in the future. Thanks for the event though! That's one thing to take from this, events are really hard to balance. You guys are doing the best you can, and we all appreciate it ^_^
