As the title says Manny constantly spams his twitch stream in the shoutbox...I almost see it everyday and it's so irrelevant to the server yet I keep seeing it pop up in red text. I do not see anyone else promoting their own websites/youtubes/twitch/whatever's. Can we just stop with the self promotion?

The ToS does not restrict self-promotion as long as it's permitted by the staff. Besides, it's an open chat room, what business do we have telling people what they can and can't do?

Maybe the ToS needs an adjustment.

It's actually in the ToS. The rules just have been ignored by staff since the beginning of time...

    1. Link to any page of or content on the Site other than the URL located at http://www.royals.ms/ ;Punishment: 1st offence - 3 day ban, 2nd offence - 7 day ban, 3rd offence - permanent ban
    2. Provide a link to any web sites that promote any product or any service; Punishment: 1st offence 7 day ban, 2nd offence - permanent ban

I think it's a good thing. It's promoting MapleRoyals as well.

I thought the promoting other sites was for in game?, do you want the music threads and such getting closed.
The times i seen Manny "promote", maybe he does it once or twice.

(Didn't mean he spam, once or twice is far from spam.)

I have not seen Manny over promote his streams, and I see it as the equivalent of someone posting a link in shout box to their Pandora playlist or "radio station".

Marty, you seem to have lots of problems with staff lately. If you want to discuss something, do PM me. Maybe you're right though, the staff has been ignoring the rules. Maybe I should make sure to tell the staff when they see ANY link not related to MapleRoyals.com to immediately ban them for 3 days. We try to interpret the rules to be strict when necessary and more relaxed when the intent is not malicious, and that applies to whether the person is staff or not.

I've never seen him "spam" it before. If anything, I've seen him say it once in the shoutbox and again in about an hour or so into streaming.

These are applicable to in-game, the forums have their own separate set of rules and although there is a: "Don't spam the chatbox" rule, I've never seen it 'spammed' to the point where the chatbox is flooded with his streaming link.

I have to agree with Sila here, I think it would have been better to privately message Manny.

Just ignore it lol, it's like the self advertisers on YouTube, you can't do anytying about them, nor should one message every other hour bother you.

Idk why I added in Youtubers, but point is that people do shameless self advertisibg all the time, thus making it stupid to take action against one individual when ut comes to "one message an hour" or whataver people have been saying.

I like how you interpret my comment as something against Manny/staff. It's not, simply stating something. Not to mention that I think the rule itself is unnecessary if it's not enforced, anyway.

You can also leave out the "lately". But this thread is going off-topic, anyway... I'm not against Manny or his stream. He doesn't actually spam the shoutbox, so he's not doing anything wrong, as @Christine pointed out.

ToS nitpickers should stop taking everything said in the ToS literal. It's the spirit of the rules that is important. But that's just how I feel, I mean the rules have changed so much since I joined and the ToS is adapting very quickly. I remember when I first joined, the rules were even more strict back then(less exceptions) and I'm happy that the rules have changed for the better. I agree with John that under certain circumstances the rules don't need to be enforced as hard.

I think I remember that somewhere this very same issue was brought up by Oldie regarding plug.dj?? It was quite a while ago though but I'm pretty sure it's already been discussed before.

Okay so what's the verdict? Besides a bunch of kids posting cool memes, etc..

More interested in what John had to say will the rules become more strict?
