Oh, man... out of all the games I've played, MapleStory for sure has the best OST, in my opinion. Of course, most of the BGM that was listed previously, I enjoy as well, but I don't want to be repetitive. So yes, my favorite MapleStory BGM is hands down the Ellinia - Slime Tree (Missing You), but I feel like other MapleStory BGM usually get out-shined. Therefore, I will list my three honorable mentions, along with my three least favorite OST. Here are my (other) favorites:
Favorite - CWKPQ Least - Haunted House ( I dissaprove the level of spookiness, of this BGM. ) Change it to this one and it il be my new favourite.
Ellinia music makes me nearly cry from nostsglia. My first ever character was a bishop that never made it to bishop until years after starting that account. The music always makes me feel.
Favourite - Lith Harbor, Eliina Inside Tree, Orbis Least - Kerming City Never played too far from victoria island, so its limited =X
It might sound silly, but I warn you to be vigilant when using background music because it's now very possible to be punished for using a copyrighted song, sample, or even pattern. The explanation is simple: people are extremely proud of their inventions and they think that it's very important to protect it, and, from the other hand, it is very easy to sue anyone for those reasons nowadays. That is why I love using all of Depositphotos' background music deposit. The benefit of this place is undeniable, their large library and the fact that you can do it all for free, thanks to their free bank, is insane. I sincerely hope you will consider it.
To name a few of them... Favorite : Spoiler (this only plays if you have the headset in current Maple, but its technically still a bg music) (i prefer this version more than the ones we have right now) Least favorite : Spoiler (simply the worst login theme ever) (its not bad really, but the longer you listen to it the boring it gets)
Pure mainlined nostalgia favorites: Lith Harbor+areas (pig beach) this track is perfectly evocative of a lighthearted adventure sparkling to life and taking off, but also serenely beautiful and calming. There's possibly no other track as nostalgic as this for me, leaving maple island and seeing the world explode in size in the albedo glaring greece-like seaport town, and the sprawling crossroads beyond it was such a sweet little journey and memory. Kerning finally reaching kerning (and hearing the music long before the map loaded on my old dial up computer) was an unforgettabletreat, I was so hyped. It's a really catchy, funky track that evokes a bit of danger around every corner, but mischievious and catchy at the same time. The city was always buzzing with intrigue and interesting players back then Sleepywood. oh how I wish there was a bit more content hidden in sleepywood. The track is so serene and mysterious and works so well in it's dewdrop twinkling piano verses in the lush, ancient forest ruins and cliffs, somehow made inviting and warm with this bgm and the lovely backgrounds and platform and art pieces Missing you an extremely sweet and tender bgm hidden inside the beautiful trees of the ellinia forest. they had such a great fungal/shroomy early maple vibe, but this especially heartfelt yet lonesome track really sinks the already dreamy and mysterious locale even deeper into a remarkably memorable experience Ant tunnel/dungeon Just an incredibly immersive and haunting track that both dares and warns you away from travelling any further into the dizzying, seemingly endless depths of Victoria. An excellent atmos-fear-ic piece that always evokes danger with its didgeridoo drones, stalactite drip percussion, heavy bassdrum playing in the epic yet melodic organ sections The lower descent is even worse, much more sparse and fearsome. The spaced bass drums/knocks evocative of someone beating at the doors of your unfolding nightmares, the dripping water somehow echolocating you back to reality, the slowly surging organs swell behind you, then finally a great drum beat drops in, accompanied with lush string verses to alleviate some of the atmosphere that doesn't go away, but the new accompaniments and relieving arrangements suprisingly, darkly, invite you into this cold and oppressive environment Orbis ship ride, and crog bgm Simply great tracks, riding high through the endless skies to untold adventures, and the most dangerous encounter you could have in the game for months, maybe years (back then). The ship ride bgm is wonderfully evocative of high adventure to come, as well as very peaceful, and not campy or too simple. The crog ship track is one of instant danger with great harsh slapping bass and terrifying but multiple and amazing Egyptian sounding melodies arranged on top of eachother from unique and unusual high tones and a heartrate boosting tempo, and this track is a lot longer than you think, probably intended to be a boss battle theme. It has lots of arrangements in it if you dare to venture out to experience them El Nath and wolf territory The nath bgm really has the comforting warmth of a hearth-warmed cottage amidst a scenic snow town, a classic track of maple, and very similar to the opening menu bgm the wolf territory track is another absolute classic awful atmospheric pieces that haunts the dangerous terrain and heightens the monster threats that the nath mountains hide, perfectly complementing the frigid, harrowing territory and looming danger. Would fit great inside any horror movie, even complete with lonesome, striking wolf howls in the track. The piece moves very well in it's organ arangement, being both very melodic in verses and culminating in sparse, harrowing wind sounds, what sounds like the beating on walls (or the inside of a coffin), and of course, bridged throughout by the mockingly simple and playful horror music trope of a simple repeating 1-2-3-4 melody that becomes a terrifying nursery rhyme like amidst the atmosphere and track tone Highly dislike amoria (sounds like elevator or hold music, it creeps me out, the whole place does, especially since t was all a huge scheme hatched to make money off very young people to get married like whoaaa now), ariant sucks, omega sector is interesting at first but too repetitive, and I feel the same about temple of time, it's pretty but its a bit too somber and repetitive and epic sounding, it gets exhausting quickly, and I hate hate hate the cpq music, it's used too many times in the game (in pap/krex/cpq2/somewhere else probably) Also largely dislike all of the real world locations and bgm, never enjoyed the content either, very jarring and never felt inspired or necessary, just fanservicey
