Hello. I have a Dark Knight level 133 and Bishop level 132. Both are okay, but I must admit Im getting bored and tired of these classes. Bishops cant be attacker,s they are a supportive class and I dont really enjoy being supportive anymore, even if I did in the past. Being able to leech, farm, and so on is fun of course, but it can get boring too. Dark knights are good in general, but honestly I prefer a more flashy and fast class, with more varied attacks like Shadower, Buccaneer and so on. So I'm confused between Shadower and Buccaneer. Shadowers have a nice variety of attacks, and Meso Explosion which allows you to be strong even with terrible clothes. Buccaneer has interesting transformations and combination of attacks, but requires more focus it seems. So, can anyone please explain a few things and tell me what could be better? Also, I dont like the other classes like Bowman and NL, they're too popular and repetitive and I want to play the less played classes like these I mentioned. Thank you.
Depends on your level of fundings. Or another way of saying, how rich are you? If you’re extremely funded. Shadowers. If you’re not? Bucc for sure. Personally i find buccaneers way superior then shadower in every other way in terms of cost efficiency to arrive at the “min-maxed” point. Cost of weapons, bucc you’ll be required to focus only on your kingcent/DSC while shadower to focus on both GDK/Kanzir (dagger) & Dkhanjar (shield). Washing a bucc is way cheaper then a shadower. If ur planning to make this your main character. I recommend 30k potential and buccaneers is simply easier. in terms of bossing. In horntail, maybe shadower might be better for like 30% when really well built, but bucc just destroys your current end game attraction, “Auf Haven”. Also labelled as the SS+ tier class that even outshines the all so popular Nightlords in pub runs. Their efficiency to mule & control multiple characters are quite on par if you are looking into the more in depth details.
I'll explain. There must be some misunderstanding... I dont care about what class is more expensive or cheaper, and I dont care if I'm funded or not. I also don't care about washing, and I also don't care about which class is better at bossing. I only care about what I enjoy more, simple as that. Thats the most important part of this game, of any video game, and its simply to have fun and enjoy the game. So basically, I'm just not sure what I enjoy more and thats why I started this thread about it. They're both good options for me, and thats why I asked specifically about these classes because I'm not sure which one I would enjoy more. But I really dont care about anything else. I appreciate your intention to help, but Im more looking for advice on what is more enjoyable. I know that its a matter of personal preference / taste, but generally, which class is more fun to play? I only talk about the gameplay style, skills, attacks, etc. Not about washing, funded/unfunded and all that. Of course, its not fun when you cant go to a boss because your unwashed, but thats not something that would stop me from playing a class. So, I appreciate again your help, but if you can advise on the gameplay style of the classes and what would I or players generally would enjoy more, please tell me. Especially the way the classes are played. Like for example, Buccaneers have delay in some attacks and their transformations have cooldown, so you need to wait to use them, you're not always transformed. Shadowers can use all attacks without delay, but they have different attacks and it is used differently. They're a melee class like Bucc but are different. I dont like ranged classes, because they're all about throwing or shooting mostly and this can get boring fast to me personally.
As you mentioned having fun with a certain class is personal. How can we advice you in that? Jooon gave you the best advice by giving you the facts about these classes and there spot in the game If I were to guess what you might enjoy more without knowing you at all id say go with shad although I’ve never played one i do have a Bucc and it’s fun + we basically have infinite transformation on this server so you can always use combos Solo Client shad might just be a little more fun cuz you got more opportunities gameplaywise (meso bomb) and it seems to be a little more active i guess you don’t care though
I played bucc for a long time pre buff and a bit post buff, and I actually think shads are alot cooler now. I think the unique movement option of assaulter is super cool, and that shad gameplay is more interesting now. They also look cooler and you can see your nx while bossing. The bucc buff removed the super trans cd (later extended to 1m but buff duration is 2m and can't be dp ... ) so bucc just sits in perma super trans now unfortunately. Furthermore, this means that if you're newly 135 and bossing its optimal to just go straight for max demo first, as opposed to pre buff when there was some balancing between leveling barrage + ds / demo. It's also removed some variations in bossing, such as in zak where you may do top right arm with demo while super trans is up, and then rotate to bottom left arm for barrage ds while it is on cd. It's basically killed the use of energy orb too, now bubble just exists to give you stance. And super trans never being down means that you just i frame everything with very long animations. I was happy that bucc was buffed immediately after the update, but the charm waned on me and in retrospect I think it was responsible for making me eventually quit the class. But yea, tl;dr I think shads are cooler than bucc.
I start to see the differences and make my decision about what I would enjoy more. I really appreciate your replies, thank you. Shads move faster and attack faster, while Bucc do things a little slower. So I might enjoy Shads more. I'm glad I'm starting to realize things now. I still have a Bishop and to be honest with you, I worked very hard to get to where I am now with this Bishop. Just reaching fourth job was difficult, but also getting all my skills and everything... Tell me something, if I decide to also play my Bishop still, is it okay to play it as a main character? Or are bishops never meant to be a main character to play, and they're always just farmers/mules/hs mules etc. By "main" I mean playing a Bishop like without the intention of only playing it for farming, leeching, hs mule, etc. Although recently I started to realize also, not being able to contribute to attacking and dealing damage gives an inferior feeling. Do you know this feeling guys? When you play a Bishop, and you feel like you're just a mule standing there and supporting everyone else in your party. Like the only thing people care about you is your HS and your supportive abilities.
As a person who plays support alot in Moba games, i am used to standing on the side lines. And i mained a bishop at first, for many purposes aoe skill, hs, party wanted. But Bishops are just as wanted in HT as a NL i think it depends on gameplay. Some people cant play support and find themselves being able to do more, but i believe its more about teamwork not who kills or does the most.
How about a Corsair? is probable the most fun class (on my opinion) and not that hard to understand how it work. Maybe only problem gonna be the HP wash (depending on your HP goal and ship HP) but is definally a good class if you wan't too see good mount of damage in a low time of levels.
I love your mindset! Play the game and don't let the game play you! Play whatever class you found most enjoyable is the key!
I know man. I was talking about that and how its the most important thing, because that really is the most important thing about video games. I understand there are achievements, content to complete or explore, game features, and so on, but you gotta enjoy what you're playing first of all. Its not even about a high level, because, you can be level 200 but the class you are playing is boring. You got to that level because it was fun in the beginning, but now it feels boring and repetitive. So, the level wont matter altogether. So all video games generally have the same purpose / thing that is most important, to enjoy the game, if you're not enjoying it then maybe you're playing the wrong game. But some people have a different perspective of what is "enjoyable". They could say, its fun only at the later stage of the game. For example, a class that is boring until 4th job but after 4th job its fun because they get better attack skills. Thats okay, because you're playing something you would eventually enjoy. You totally gotta plan out what will be with what you're playing. But, I'm actually talking about classes that are boring to me all the way, even after 4th job. Corsair is a good example, like it was mentioned here. They're so boring up to 4th job that the path to get there could make you give up before you actually get there. But I'm not choosing Corsair right now because I think there are better classes I can play. The gameplay style of using a battleship, and using rapid fire when you're not on the ship, to me appears like a modified version of Hurricane except you hop on a ship from time to time which is already slow and uninteresting - in my opinion of course, not a fact. So I'm more thinking in the direction of a Shadower, but still not a hundred percent sure about it. The good thing about prebb maple story is there arent too many features or classes to confuse you, you have a basic amount of classes and features and everything is simplified. if this was postbb I honestly wouldnt be able to remain focused on anything, id get so confused and miserable.
Tbh, i think (you probably already have) when you just start a bandit, you will eventually be addicted to the gameplay at about level 40+. It's flashy, quick, highest avoidability and it gets unique and usefull skills at every job advancement, with the cherry on top when you get to shadower. My now 101 Chief Bandit did all the pq's you can do with ease and most important FUN. Carnaval pq's with savage blow, pirate pq obviously meso explosion, assaulter which basically makes you teleport to platforms when there's atleast one mob around. And band of thieves has like zero delay. Anyway, those are just skills and probably general mapleroyals stuff. Subjective i mean. But, as someone who enjoys classes who are, like you said, less repetetive, i like both bucc and shad. I just think the Bandit is the probably weaker, but quicker, flashier, more versatile and with the highest avoidability better class. For me ofc. Also no recharging ofc and no etc items needed besides mesos. Meso up makes nobs drop not too much meso's, but i feel that skills makes you enjoy meso explosion even more and keeps it relevant. Where most classes eventually get skills that overrule previous ones, the bandit uses most skills because for example, assaulter keeps you moving. Boomerstep doesn't u think, again i need to get to shadower still haha. Last but not least, as you mentioned, meso explosion recquires zero gear to max out dmg. There's always a boss path or even washing ways later levels since you can have 163728 INT and still boom those mobs haha. Pretty sure you'll feel the same haha, what level is you're shadower by now? #longstory
