If I can last to the JQ stage then I could win it easily after that... unless someone else can clear it first time most of the time.

This sounds like a very nice event and a lot of work on your part.

I'm in if I can make it at that time. Question: Can we participate with two characters, but 1 per level? aka farming purposes of a bishop, mobility of a thief

Suggestion for next event: If the winners of the 3rd stage are going to be picked at random (don't even try to argue that they weren't), just get rid of T/F and take the first 6 people to complete the scavenger hunt, or do something other than T/F. Because it really sucks to spend 3 hours scavenging to secure a spot in the next stage, and then lose entirely because of luck.

Well aside from that really unlucky thing that happened to us, it was fun while it lasted!

Thanks to Christopher and the other helpers for organising the event! :)

I agree with most of what you say pretty much, but they weren't picked at random.

Chris chose an extremely hard question that, let's be honest, none of the 12 people knew. It was practically a Russian Roulette. Us 6 'True' got it wrong, as we took our chance.

But still, it truly is frustrating to go through those hours of farming etc and the lag that us 6 had to lose to a mere question.

I don't know, it was fun nonetheless, but some tweaks could make it a bit better.

A suggestion from me is to have the T/F at the start, before the farming. That would make it much more fair, instead of having the hours of farming go to waste.

I also wasn't a fan of the T/F. I won that one but it didn't feel like I'd achieved anything other than simply having luck on my side. I had no idea what the answer was and we all just picked at random, I'm sure.

I feel that if you want to include something like that, it should be at the beginning of the event to thin the herd. Stage one of the event was scary simply because of the number of people answering. Many people typed out phrases or words before the question was even asked just to try to predict what might be there. If you switched stage one and three I think it would be more fun and people also wouldn't feel bad about losing to luck right at the beginning.

Overall I had a lot of fun during the event! It was more fun than any official GM event that I've ever participated in(I rarely even decide to attend those because they don't really interest me). I'd definitely attend anything similar to this again.

I can only agree with those above. The event was fun, but there were some things that could be improved. Stage 2 wasn't that well-orchestrated; I already messaged Chris about my ideas there. And not to mention the T/F... Either make it a RR and put it at the beginning or make it fair for everyone instead of... well, what happened this time.

I also thought the questions in Stage 1 were too easy... But that's me.

Alright lengthy post coming ahead from me, feel the need to address certain things that happened today during the Tournament.

First-off, i'd like to thank everyone who participated. As you guys would have known, only 3 players can actually win prizes out of the event, but i hope at least the majority of you who didn't win had a good time regardless. I'd like to address some stuffs though, based on each individual Level of the Tournament.
*I'll talk about the structure of Levels towards the end of the post (in terms of restructuring sequence of events)

    Level 1: Trivia
Surprisingly, pretty much everyone were quiet and paid attention throughout the 25 rounds of questions asked. That made it a lot easier on our part, no real issue of crowd control whatsoever. Apart from the mistaken winner from 1 particular round (which we rectified immediately after), everything else when pretty smoothly (apart from the lag) and overall i feel that Level 1 was the best managed round.

I understand at some point some of you guys may be seeing both the question and some answers pop out at the same time because of lag, however on our end it wasn't lagging so we had to continue on. It did lag badly at one point and we paused for that short moment, so everything was fine.

Trivia questions could probably be made a little harder, since almost everyone were able to answers easily.

    Level 2: Scavenger Hunt

Oh boy...where do I even begin. This was quite a mess, especially at the beginning stations. I was in charge of Station 1, and as soon as the majority of you guys found me everyone flocked around trying to get me on trade. I hope you guys understand that it was extremely stressful for me as well, trying to carry out each trade (followed by pming that particular person the relevant clue and items to hunt) one after another simultaneously.

Some of you guys might have reached earlier than others, but unable to get through to trading with me, I apologize for that. I tried to keep track of the order in which people entered, but i couldn't as soon as everyone came in around the same time. Moreover i had 2 clients on, main having to answer pm's to those who DCed and wanting to find out first clue/etc.

The lag was brutal at one point of time, thankfully for me it was after almost everyone were done with Station 1, but @Izzy who was in-charge of Station 2 dced so often and the entire trading process got delayed, making it tough to keep track of who came first etc... We definitely need to work on a improved system for trading ETCs, will think about that for future Seasons.

Oh and for the people who think Mages and Night Lords gain an unfair advantage due to Teleport, Mystic Door or Flash Jump, you'd be surprised to learn that the first few players to reach certain stations were warriors (1 even 3rd job as well). Hence the winning 12 participants actually varied in classes, pretty equal.

    Level 3: Take your Chance

This one i definitely had to address. We actually had a set of Statements to be used to slowly eliminate players, however as it turns out through the first 2 rounds, nobody got eliminated. The questions were rather easy and i felt the need to bring up the difficulty. Surprisingly the 3rd question had all 12 players breaking even 6/6 which ended the Level there, where half proceeded to Level 4, and the other half failed to move on. Technically speaking, it couldn't have been more fair in terms of the question as i believe no one actually had a confident answer which kinda placed everyone on an equal footing (literally taking your chance on it). But that wasn't my real intention, so i'd definitely have to revamp this part.

I don't know why I didn't see this coming beforehand, but yeah i understand now the frustration of having gone through various towns hunting only to lose out to 1 question of T/F. My initial reasoning for placing these 2 events the way they were was due to:
    - T/F is easier managed with lesser people, being an ordinary player i don't have the GM commands to force stun players at the end of a countdown or use a better map (horizontal rather than vertical).
    - Scavenger Hunt felt like a really fun event where you actually travel across the various towns in Maple and hunt monsters, so i felt like giving more players the opportunity to experience that feeling.
After hearing some of your feedback online and the above posts here, I'm most likely swapping them with one another. It's actually helps with the crowd control at Scavenger Hunt Stations (having lesser participants) and also gives a more accomplished feel completing it.

    Level 4: The Final Jump
Nothing much to say here, it was only 6 players to manage so that was easy.

    Overall:
I'd just like to address one important point as well before anyone tries to accuse the Tournament of being rigged. Trust matters in this case, there's no way i can prove myself being fair to everyone. I understand the 1st & 2nd place winners were from HOLLYWOOD itself, though you guys have to know that nothing related to the Tournament were discussed on Guild Chat to give anyone an added advantage.

It was an extremely stressful 3 hours for myself and the helpers. Grinding 40+ hours to farm 1b+ for the Tournament rewards was nothing compared to how much we multitask over the tournament period. That said, we'll still have future events on a monthly basis, improving each time with your feedback. I apologize once again to those that didn't make it past certain levels (especially the 6 at T/F). I do however feel the overall experience of hosting this event was a good one for a first-time event. All of us (helpers included) have learnt a lot from the experience and we'll definitely try to make things better for you guys the next time round.

Apart from that, Congrats to the winners. Keep the feedback coming in this thread (regardless negative or positive) and i'll try to address to every one of your questions. Season 2's exact date and time will be confirmed at least 1 week prior to Event date. Tentative date set as 28th February (Saturday).

I don't like the idea of moving T/F to before scavenger because you want scavenger to be as soon in the tournament as possible so that the most people are competing in that at once.
I think starting with the stage one they did was a good way to get 25 contestants for scavenger hunt, I definitely would not recommend replacing that with T/F. If you tried hard on each question, your chances of advancing were pretty good so I think stage 1 was fair and fine as is. Stage 2 was kind of the highlight of the tournament and I think it fits really well as the second stage.
Stage 4 being a JQ works well because you don't want to have to many people for JQ at once and since JQ's are intense on their own, it fits well as the last stage.

Only thing that should change is the 3rd stage. I think the hosts wanted to have a Hollywood themed stage which is fine. I wouldn't mind something different, but if it had to be something similar, I think what would've been more fair would be have people type T/F instead of move. Then if everyone has the same answer, last to answer gets automatically eliminated. That would solve the problem of questions being too easy since if you don't want to be the last to answer, you won't really be able to copy everyone else as easily. Then the hosts wouldn't feel the need to ask impossible questions, but it would still be up to them not to do so.

Another suggestion I would have would be replace the repeat after me questions of the first stage, with a section where the host reads the description of some obscure item and the contestants have to name the item. More knowledge based less typing contest. That's just my opinion though, others may prefer typing contest idk.
