Yea pretty much lol. Meanwhile a peer server is no Vote2win and now averaging 200-600 more current online players than Royals is. Those risks might need to be taken if Royals wants to compete.
750 tokens= 35 gach tokens. Maybe some system check that decreases # of tokens you get if you run PQ too many times with the same group to encourage playing with new players rather then 3 Guildies and a mule running KPQ non stop
My Two cents on this topic is as follows. We're about 5 years too late for any meaningful changes to be made now that wouldn't have an ultimately catastrophic impact on the servers economy. The economy runs because of certain items being expectedly gained from Gach then being circulated within the economy. We should have looked into long term balance decisions long before we reached a point where we are now. Gach was designed in its original form as a pay 2 win feature where a small number of players would have access to the items the Gaches contained and a significantly smaller amount of good items would be placed into the economy of the server those items were gained on. The only real barrier to entry came at the cost of the consumers wallet. On Royals, the only barrier to gain entry to game and economy defining power items is a simple 2 minute process to vote where we gain 8k nx everyday. 1 year of voting is 2,920,000 nx if you vote every single day. Not including any 2x vote nx events. That lets you purchase 3,337 Gach tickets if you bought all of it optimally with the 35 ticket bundles. In real life money that would be as if every player spent $2,920 on gach or a combined $4,380,000 spent in total for an entire year if you figure in an average days player count at 1500. Thats a lot of chances to get good items and get them circulated within the economy If i had to think of a quick solution to the Gach issue Id say id probably halved the nx rate for votes or maybe even increase the cost of Gach tickets only and kept the vote nx amount the same that way we dont affect buying cosmetic items. Increasing the cost of Gach tickets goes at the issue directly as it slows down the rate at which players are getting tickets to dump into Gach. It slows down how quickly powerful items are circulating within the game. Slower circulation of items means slower rate at which power creep comes into play both economically and acrossed players characters. It also slows down the pace at which players are consuming the content the game has to offer. In my opinion changes should have been thought up and implemented all the way back during new sources testing and then eventual release. It would have come at a time when there was significantly less players playing both in general, and because of how busted the client was at the time. We should have made the changes that would have set up the server for long term life expectancy instead of going about things normally. But honestly i feel like its way too late for large scale sort of changes to be made without serious backlash and exodus from the community.
Here's an idea to counteract some issues you brought up. If Vote2Win is essentially removed by the removal of gachapon from cash shop. Then it would essentially de-criminalize all prior vote abusers. Thus, Unban them to allow their return to vote/play. Essentially like how I can smoke a fat fuckin blunt now, and not face jail time. But a few years ago I would be locked up. I wish I was Meme-ing but honestly, wouldn't be a bad idea. I get they did something against ToC, but like, it's not the end of the world over some double voting. The real bad guys are the ones that do it HUNDREDS of times and then RWT. They can go sit on a stick and spin. I personally think a lot of players in general would come back and revive the economy if this was done along with HP adjustments currently in discussion.
Can we change the title or remake a thread to something like : remove vote2win i actually think it will be really beneficial for our server in the long run.
I can't change the poll. shall we team up @Jooon and make a new thread? I'm down. I just finished all my classes for the day and smoked a bowl. I'm ready to shake up the system.
I can edit the poll content such as title or options if you need But I would recommend not to edit it too often else people may be reluctant to vote on it
Awesome! for sure. I secretly love you dave. I guess not secret anymore. fuck it. Title of poll: Remove vote 2 win Options: yes. Explain why no. Also, explain why. Thank you @Dave Deviluke <3 uwu Editing main post now
Have amended the poll content - title and options Have also reset the poll options as the context is different now
If gachapon tickets were removed from the cash shop, how will they obtainable thereafter? I agree with removing vote-2-win, but I'd like to hear ideas of how they're obtained outside of the cash shop, and how this would affect CS/WS and gear prices. Given the economy in-game, do we want the prices of these items to increase/decrease?
OH for sure! i have some ideas. Gachapon tickets can be obtained from... PQ tokens PQ bonus stage Boss expeditions HIGH-level mobs (ToT/Neotokyo/EllinForest/etc.) great for non-mages as well as high level mages that aren't just leech mules. Quests Balance Gachapon Rates - this should be adjusted and monitored to retain cs/ws balance. Also the overall function of how the gachapons are town-based might need to be altered. other ideas please my friends...? I'll use a peer server as an example because they have this system. The only thing I don't like about their system is Gach dropping from low-level mobs. IMO that's too op. I feel like it needs to be guarded against blatant hackers in indirect ways. Since Royals has hackers, we have to switch it up to protect. I have been playing that server for like a month now, I love how they do things. We are not them, this is royals, but we really need to model ourselves based on others, especially if it works and it's good. Dare I say it. i imagine a day server merger. I think that would be so fucking cool. It would honestly rival GMS player counts.
i'll say no unless we remove mulefarm&boss2win on the same day as vote2win although i think is to late for such changes and it will make further imbalance in already broken ecosystem maybe for 2nd world something like royals reboot/royals bera? is pointless to allways make methods/changes like "legit player race with ToS breakers with this and that".... i'll keep say the only way to stop the ToS breakers is with reports and geting them ban , is not easy all games deal with same issue, royals ban appeals is full each day and they still comeback... we can't race with ToS breakers and we should not adjust content or approach indirectly according to their rates or what not
I disagree a little. Bossing should be rewarded content as it was in Pre-bb gms, but I do hate mules in bossing as it ruins the design of MapleStory. Mule farming can be balanced, as it is in other servers. I would like to see NX/Gach dropped from mobs that are very high-level mobs that are too hard to kill for low-level magefarmers. But multi mage-farming can still be viable meso making for leech/exchange quest/equips/prequests
I'm on the fence with this suggestion so I haven't voted. First, I think it would be good to clarify that you are mainly trying to target vote abusers by getting rid of vote2win, so the system that is implemented afterwards must be hackerproof, else all you are doing is shifting cheaters from one method of cheating to another. If this system were to be implemented right now, it would turn our economy upside-down, people who are voting but aren't actively playing could have nx wasted because they don't know about the change and don't necessarily need untradeable aprs, and these cheaters who level accounts just to vote will instead turn to hacking goods such as popular scrolls instead. I know you brought up the suggestion where low level mobs won't get gacha tickets, but if someone wants to cheat they will find ways to do it and everyone knows we don't have autoban in place so unless this suggestion is more comprehensive such that vote2win cheaters cannot easily just switch to hack2win, I can't be fully onboard with this suggestion. In general, I don't like suggestions that revolve around hackers because I don't see why we legitimate players should make our community/economy/playstyle revolve around them.
I'm not clarifying the main target because there isn't one. The direction of this change would be that it's fixing an aspect of a game that very comparable to Pay2Win. And then it would indirectly fix some problems like Vote Abuse. I'm not sure if you are aware but the current state of AutoBan seems pretty efficient as long as GMs are online to ban them. So when it comes to the substitutions of exploits. Yea, they will try something else. But this change would GREATLY stop a lot of efforts and prevents them from blatant Vote Abuse. Taking something away from them is a step forward and I would not shy away from "turning this server upside-down" when it's already heading in that direction without any changes being done. You can easily notify people of changes coming, which is something that should be the norm. I think in the long run it would repair the servers economy and reward active gameplay, rather than the current state of constant ToC violations/Ban evasion. sometimes upside down is actually right side up when we are already in a state of melancholy
