Since you're only given 2 Krex/Zak runs every 24 hours, it would be extremely convenient if there was a way to check how many runs you have left and how much time is left until your next run is reset. Typing ~bosstimer would display something along the lines of: You currently have "x" Zakum(s) and "y" Krexel(s) remaining. Your next available Zakum resets in "x" hours/minutes/seconds. Your next available Krexel resets in "y" hours/minutes/seconds. I'm surprised nobody has brought this up yet!
This is a potentially useful concept but from what I have seen in these feedback forums the staff is not in favor of adding player commands. It may be possible to implement in a different way though?
We already have commands such as ~bosshp, ~mapowner, and ~shiphp, just to name a few. It wouldn't hurt to add 1 more. Considering how many boss runs take place each day, I can see this being an extremely helpful command. If the GMs are that opposed to adding more player commands, then another idea could be to add a NPC in FM that displays your timer.
~rolldice would be a nice addition too. In most MMORPGs, there is an in-game dice system built in to determine who gets the rare drops from monsters. Obviously the person who rolls the highest wins and people are also given the option to not roll (forfeit) the item if they so choose to. This would greatly help decide who get the loots/reloots from bosses.
I agree for a command but I really don't want anymore NPC's in fm, It will take away the GMS look alike feeling.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a new NPC, that was just an idea. Perhaps give Frederick that ability? Best case scenario would simply be adding a ~bosstimer command, hopefully something like this gets implemented!
I would greatly appreciate if adobis and commando jim could tell you how long it is until your run becomes available. That doesn't make it too easy, but it's an extremely useful feature - much more so (imo) than something like ~uptime.
Don't think we will add this. There's nothing hard about writing down the time when you go into a boss. We could add a timer to the NPC though which would tell you how long you have to wait until you can go in again.
@Matt i like this suggestion cause inside zakum/Horntail it's very hard to see which buffs you have cause they get blocked by the timer. Not a big deal but, maybe make the timer smaller?
You're right, people can write down when they last entered a boss but how many people actually do that? Most people simply glance over their clock when they enter and usually forget the next day. It's no fun having to open up a notepad or bringing out a pen and paper to write down a time, that's something you did in the 90s when the internet wasn't easily accessible and you had to write down long codes for video games. If you're still hesitant on adding a ~bosstimer command, then adding that function to a NPC would be a great second option. But preferably not Adobis or Commander Jim because you should know before joining a party that you have runs left available, not after making it 1 portal before the boss to find out you went through all that trouble for nothing.
All I'm reading here is "make things easier for me im too lazy to walk places" which is poor design. If you can't remember a general idea of when you ran, maybe you shouldn't run every day. I would just like to see the mpc update for the occasions that you get there a bit early and want to know if youre waiting 10 mins or an hour.
What Jake said. I generally have an idea of when I've run, but I'd like to know whether my timer is up in 10 minutes or 20, rather than just checking the portal every few minutes for krexel. Plus the chance of you accidentally walking in on someone when they're about to start a run... have had it happen before. lol
When people kill bosses I'm pretty sure they tend to try and remember the same sort of thing, if not, they write it down. Not really very different to this. And if we approved this, next people will be asking for a ~whenDidILastKillAnego command.
@Matt ~shiphp: only about 50 people can actually use this ~bosshp: you can just kill it... why do you have to know its hp unless its BF which has a hp bar on your screen ~uptime: has the same use as ~bosstimer except its for merchants instead of bosses Just my input...
This is no different than going online to check when your next bus arrives. Sure you have a general idea that it comes at around 2PM but why would you waste 5 minutes walking to the bus stop only to find that you're 8 minutes early? Convenience =/= poor design. I would argue the exact opposite. Pretty much what Sila said. If you've already rallied up your party + buyers, and is about to fight Zakum, it would suck to get a notification saying "you have already done Zakum in the past 24 hours, your next available run is in 13 minutes". Not only does this affect you, but the party as a whole. Should they then wait 13 minutes or go through the trouble of finding a replacement? Why should this happen right before entering Zakum after you have already gathered up everyone? It does not make any sense. I'm not saying people don't remember when they last did their boss, it's just that not many people will remember it down to the seconds. I've been part of runs where members aren't sure when exactly they did their run; they know it was at around this hour but not sure if it's in 5 minutes, 10 minutes or 15 minutes. It would just be nice to know ahead of time to clear up misunderstandings. And this is different than giving a timer to bosses like Anego or Bigfoot. Those bosses' spawn timer depend on when it was last killed, whereas Zakum and Krexel's timer is based on when you last killed it.
~shiphp; I'm not sure why we have this command really, we just left it in when it came with the source. ~bosshp is for bosses that don't currently have a HP bar, once we implement HP bars for all bosses then this will be removed. ~uptime was implemented as a main use of it being able to simply show how long the server has been online for since a reboot.
Honestly I don't even remember reading that command when i started out. Not to mention I don't know how to get a Battleship @.@...
