Hello Royallers, First of all we'd like to thank @Incentv for his work on Staff for the past 4 months. He participated in a lot of anti cheating countermeasures and left his mark on making this game a better place for all of us in that time however he has chosen for an early retirement from Staff and you'll be finding him in game again as a regular player! In other news a long time Staff member that went on a break has returned, put your hands and paladin/ban hammers together for @Shane as he has taken the role as GM back up again to help the community! - The MapleRoyals Staff
Thank you Vincent for your time and the ridiculous amount of patience you have shown during your time in staff! and Welcome back Shane! It's an honor to be hammering hackers alongside you
As a player, thank you Incentv for committing the time to make the server better! Welcome back Shane!!!
Thanks Vincent for all of your hard work talking to the community and listening to our thoughts, opinions, and suggestions to better the server! As a disclaimer, I'm not trying to undermine Vincent's contributions with my next question. I've seen his all of his effort talking and listening to community members in his feedback sessions and heard positive things from mutual friends as well. However I do want to resurface a comment from January's GM blog post. I initially posed a question as I wondered why GM June's departure was omitted from the blog post. Then Matt gave the following response: As Incentv left the team technically as a GM intern, I'm once again curious why there was such a discrepancy in announcing the departure of GM Incentv vs GM June. I understand that this is not the official GM blog post and there happens to be another GM re-joining the team. However, now with this post, there's written, external acknowledgement of Incentv's contributions to staff compared to the complete lack of acknowledging June's contributions after her departure (maybe even resisting acknowledgement in the January blog post). Again, my intention is by no means trying to discount or weigh differently the contributions that both Incentv or June have made while they were on staff. I'm just trying to understand why there's a difference in announcing staff changes externally for the sake of transparency.
Hi laora. Sure thing, and thanks for the question. We think it's better for all of us to be on equal grounds with regards to the stance of the Staff on matters like these. We would like to thank all of our hardworking volunteers, whether in the GM Blog or a standalone thread such as this one. We all believe that any volunteering Staff member who has devoted time and energy into bettering the server, has contributed positively. The difference between the case of ex-Intern Vincent and the case of ex-Intern June, is that Vincent left on his own accord, on very good terms with the Staff (as far as we know), and June was removed from Staff, with all of her privileges revoked. It is undeniable that June contributed her time and energy into bettering the server to the best of her ability, but in light of having spread false rumours about her colleagues, and having abused the powers vested in her, the Staff agreed that a formal "thank you" was not warranted. It is largely a symbolic action. However, we don't wish to send the signal that we don't appreciate our volunteers, or that you have to do X amount of work in order to gain our appreciation, since it is not the general case. Moving forward, we hope to be able to thank all Staff members, interns or not, as long as they leave on good terms and don’t breach our trust or internal Staff rules. I hope that answers your question!
Thanks @Incentv for helping the community be a better place with your rounds of meet the GM session. I’m sure that would be dearly missed!! Hope to see you around! Not forgetting @Shane , welcome back!!
Ah I see. I'm once again disappointed to hear that staff won't acknowledge someone's objective contributions, regardless of how the relationship ended. With this post, I've learned that if someone leaves staff on bad terms, it's preferred to sweep their contributions (regardless of magnitude) under the rug. Regardless, thanks for being transparent on what went into this decision. And thanks again for taking the time to reply to my questions surrounding staff.
He technically was using my dagger, he sold his for a gun. But anyways. This server is so fucked now. Lmao.
