So, recently whenever I try and run the game, it launches, but it stays minimized, if I try and click it, the screen goes black for a moment, then minimizes again. Does anyone know what this issue could be?
Do you run it in compatibility mode for windows 98/ME and checked run as administrator? Also. have you been able to completely shut down the game? Someone who had a similar problem: royals.ms/forum/threads/game-auto-alt-tabs-at-login-screen.15440/ which means this could be caused by background apps.
I just included that link since it was a similar issue. I didn't mean for you to try the specific fix provided there. Running in compatibility mode did not fix this? Maybe you should try to reinstall the game. Otherwise, I can try to inspect the situation using remote support.

The Solution was to click inside the black space of MapleRoyals for the short duration there is while it loads before it is minimized to the taskbar. Seems in some cases or on some computers, maplestory does not begin loading until it knows the window is in focus. For some reason in some cases, Windows 7 minimizes the game when maplestory does not begin loading.
