Hello Royallers and staff of MapleRoyals, i just want to raise a topic about Corsairs' Skill, BattleShip. As we all know, Battle Ship is corsairs' main skill to be able to use the main dps skill, Battle ship cannon. Rapid fire is almost 50% of battle ship cannon's dps. As Corsairs, we do everything in our power to prevent our ship from breaking, means of dismounting and dodging attacks. Ship HP, 40k MAX. +2K every level. at lvl 160, ship = 40K + (2k x 40) = 120k HP i just wanna say, The HP of Battleship is extremely LOW..... ship will break numerous times in HT. dismounting in zak is tedious but i got used to it. fighting samurai boss and toads. ships can barely last 30 seconds..... I also hp washed, which makes my battleship breaks faster in bosses who dmg my whole hp bar to 1 hp. This is pretty serious imo, it restricts corsairs getting into parties with these bosses because corsairs do not have party buffs to back up the low dps after ship break. i really hope the Staff of mapleroyals consider increasing the HP of Battleship which will not cause any unfairness to the game itself. thank you!
Hello fellow sair! ^^ I don't think the hp of the ship is a problem. There is definitely a learning curve to the class that many people don't realize. When I first started out, I would break ship pretty frequently because of the low ship hp as well as not understanding the mechanics of the bosses. It was pretty frustrating but once you start getting familiar with the boss animations, I guarantee that it'll get easier and easier! Ht is probably the hardest boss to master mounting/dismounting. Since there are so many different atking parts, it's inevitable that your ship will break. Usually, I just focus on dodging the 1/1 atks. If they were to change a few things to the class, I would suggest putting a cap on 1/1 and damage reflect dmg to the ship. Sairs is the only class where having too much hp hurts you. If they put a cap to 1/1s and DR to maybe 10k~, this would allow sairs to wash to 30k without having fear of their ship being destroyed so quickly and be able to survive current/upcoming end game content. Also, if there is a way to actively destroy your ship so it can go on cd that would be cool too. ^^
HP is fine you will lvl and get more HP just need practice dismounting and boss attacks timeing start by learning the 1/1 mechanic then major hit attacks (is defently harder then other jobs that "key weight" and netflix but thats the challenge with sair ) also @TofuMasterD HP wash is not that big of a issue with sairs, 30k is just unnecessary and expensive luxury but going for the ideal 18k~ with proper dismounting and positioning should be fine and when you go at boss that dosn't hit as much (zak,krex,pap..) you can lower the hp pot % on pet and "zerk"
I recommend you to adjust the title and poll options wording a bit if you are interested in a discussion. Otherwise, it looks like a strongly bias opinion rather than a feedback
Although I understand what op is trying to say, there really is a learning curve. Avoiding attacks in Zak is quite easy during body and his 1/1 animations are very predictable. It’s normal to break ship during legs / tail in HT, it’s unavoidable unless you had multiple shads or TL.
I enjoyed my Sair but I do not play it anymore and haven't since 2018. I do agree there is a learning curve and memorizing the boss moves to safely dismount; however in the same breath, not everybody is perfect and will be able to continuously dodge every 1/1 with dismounting. I do think there should be some sort of adjustment to it. Maybe making Battleship avoid 1/1s frequently, introducing a damage cap to 1/1s while in Battleship, or allowing Battleship to negate all 1/1s. I think figuring out what direction to go would be best. I believe there were adjustments made to Battleship (buffed HP a couple of years back I think, along with the recent addition of increasing the dismount/mount animation speed.) Sair is definitely one of the lowest player count classes in the game, and it's such a shame too because it's a niche class and it has the potential to white NLs if done properly and executing every single dismount flawlessly.
I don't think ship HP is a problem at all. Yes, sair is kinda meh in ht and it's very hard to outshine NLs there, but it does great in almost every other boss, especially in Neo Tokyo. If you really want to force a buff for this job just make it hit even harder (which is not even needed imo, because atleast this job is viable at all bosses which you can't say for all jobs). Also this poll is kinda meme, just makes the thread look bad.
Is it possible to remove the MP usage for Battleship? I found its annoying if you do not use potion that gives both HP/MP if you getting 1/1 and MP suck from HT you could not remount immediate and stuck on ship for a sec. The only solution i found now is using Elixir/PE/Ginger Ale and other potions that give both HP/MP.
If your battleship is breaking in 30 seconds you have to ask yourself this question: are you even playing your Corsair? When playing my own Corsair to 200, I thought the dismounting mechanic was quite engaging alongside with learning all the attack animations from all the bosses royals has to offer. You have to account that the higher level your Corsair is, the more HP your ship gains so sometimes it’s better to just dismount for the 1/1 animations only and tank the normal attacks. As for your HP washing concerns you can just use lower % hp pots because the 1/1 only damages your ship with your current hp. I feel like despite the huge learning curve, there should be no change because it really kills the identity of a Corsair, just like how another feedback thread was asking for a % hp increase to Berzerk for Dark Knight.
I agree with you in a sense of the learning curve as some classes also offer, and I also see where you are coming from with class identity and I'm saying this out of genuine curiosity; who still actively plays their Corsair? Corsair is one of the lowest classes played and the number keeps dwindling. A while back one of the Admins tallied up the numbers for 4th job classes over level 135 and who logged in since last August and there were two at the very bottom with a very large gap between the 3rd lowest class. How can we preserve the class identity if players are not willing to choose that class in the first place? Why aren't players choosing those class(es) in the first place, and what can we do to help fix that issue? All classes should bring something to the table, however if players aren't choosing certain classes like Corsair and Marksman for example, figuring out the underlining issue and discussing on what direction those classes should go isn't a bad option either; which is what this feedback post is trying to encourage. Despite OP originally asking about a Battleship buff.
if a class is unpopular but also strong it needs to light red light, maybe there is something wrong with this class? If the class is coming with learn the bosses animation and repeat unmount and mount all the time I don't find it enjoyable, I left my Corsair since I understood that... Like Becca said, "Corsair is one of the lowest classes played and the number keeps dwindling" I even cant sell the gun that I used to play with because of no buyers. Seems like one of the coolest jobs is unplayed at all... Please help us to rebirth Corsair
It’s prob due to the fact that sair is not a “Netflix and Spam” class. I don’t see a need to “fix” the class
High effort, high reward class. There are plenty of skilled corsairs who would change your mind about it, perhaps ask them to stream a specific boss for you to learn - i'm sure many would help. I don't see much reason to change it, but I can have my opinion changed by more seasoned corsairs insight
Would be nice if Battleship HP formula would take into account Corsair total HP, that way washing a 30k HP Corsair doesn't feels like your punishing your DPM Just an example Battleship Health = [(Skill Level) * 4000)] + [(Character Level - 120) * 2000] + [(Total HP)/2]
If the question is "do sairs need to be fixed" then I would say no. I was able to white similar funded nls even in ht so if I can do it, I think anyone can. Although, I do think there are certain quality of life stuff that can make it easier for sair players without ruining the class identity. Spoiler: Potential Changes? Ability to break ship to reset ship hp without relogging There are many moments while bossing that I wanted to break ship early so I can have a fresh ship available for another stage of the boss. (i.e. during auf main body, there have been instances where my ship broke while trying to kill the clone so ideally I'll prefer having a healthy ship to kill clone quickly.) Maybe right clicking the ship picture on the top right will force it to go on cd? Damage Reflect(DR) dmg cap on ship The way damage reflect works, it's 100% unavoidable dmg that will be apply to my ship unless I stop attacking. From what I've seen for DunasV1, most other classes simply keep atking and manually potting through the dmg reflect. I think having a certain dmg cap on the ship is a fair and reasonable ask for Sairs to continually atking during DR. Maybe DR does 1/2 dmg to the ship? 1/1 dmg cap on ship To me, I don't think this is a needed change. However, it'll definitely help new players manage their ship hp while it shouldn't change veterans behavior because they are still dodging 1/1(at least I hope they are ^^!) Now if the question is "why are corsairs an unpopular class", I think you'll have to ask what do most players want? From my opinion, I think it comes down to a few reasons: People like high dmg and flashy/mobile class. Nls and Sairs provide the same purpose in a party, high range dmg. However, NLs are very mobile and is probably the 2nd tankiest class because of their avoidability(assuming you're hp washed). Their avoidability and range allows them to continuously atk without much repositioning allowing them to mule other characters like se/bish/2nd atker more effectively. Sairs, on the other hand, you're pretty much guaranteed to get hit by every attack forcing you to reposition and mount/dismount constantly. Certain bosses it's not a big deal like krex/toad/ even auf. Others like zak and especially HT, it's really annoying and juggling multiple mules during the run. Given these factors as well as the type of bosses currently on Royals, it makes sense why I see more people play NLs. Now, how do we promote sairs? Here are some thoughts I had. I think introducing more bosses where sairs shine is a good way. I think LHC is proof that new content will promote unpopular classes. Ive seen parties recruit unpopular classes like heroes/MM way more often then NLs. Another simple and probably an unpopular way might be just increase their dmg output. People naturally gravitate towards having high dmg so having sair even stronger might promote the class even more. Also, sair's dont currently have a party buff ability so maybe adding that will give more incentive to make one? For example, bullseye can become a party buff where if you atk the boss that the corsair has currently marked, then the party enjoys a 5% dmg boost to that specific marked target while you still get the flat 20% boost. You can even mitigate sair muling by forcing the party buff to only occur when the sair is actively attacking the marked target every 10secs or something. These are just some random thoughts I had. As I said earlier, I don't think sairs are "broken and need fixing", but I wanted to suggest certain things that could possibly make the class better/more enjoyable. Quite often, I hear people say "oh i didnt know sairs can do this or that". Maybe part of the issue is education, and sair's weren't around when I played back in GMS. Maybe, we need to do a class showcase to show how strong sairs are. I'm glad we are having this open discussion If there are any changes that the GMs want to implement, I do hope they reach out to the sairs pros for feedback and testing. #Sair4Lyfe
i disagree that corsair is unpopular i know a lot sairs now and i see way more then before and players that want to make or makeing it now i've seen so many players exited to make sair aswell after runing with mine corsair is not all about learning dismount thats mostly "endgame" in my opinion corsair can be very casual job and strong at early bossing if not one of the best job for example at krex,bf,anego.hh,other area boss... you don't have to bring se mule evrywhere ,gear is relatively cheap and common to make, has great mobing skills... you can out DPS most if not all other jobs at area boss even without mule what else to ask for ? (but yea when it comes to meta and "endgame" it does discourage main corsairs to go further because is not mule friendly but there is like 2-3jobs that are mule friendly anyway... and thats for another topic is not just about corsairs) on gun prices i'd say that they are still "same" in last 1 or 2 years, for example perfect dragon rev oscillate 6b +- (min 25b - 32b max and 27/8b avg ) from what i've seen and when is compared to other weapons is stable if not better (of course there is meta factors, rwtrs and hackers that push all prices down and shake the market but for corsair weapon market seem stable so far ) oh @TofuMasterD about DR it dosn't effect ship HP in fact it works as iframe and kinda helpfull (especially at lilyn and dunas v1 unless pet auto pot fail )
Moving to closed, as there are considerations about the battleship already in the most recent discussion on skill changes. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/feedback-request-skill-changes-and-balancing.205730/
