I'm currently running Royals on the Mac client, though I plan on buying a zhelm and as such I've learned that I need to run Parallels to avoid DC'ing. Here's my question: Can anyone link me to, or provide a set up guide for Parallels? Specifically like: Where to obtain Parallels Which version of Parallels do I need Does Parallels come with windows already installed, or do I need that as well (If needed) Which version of windows and where to get windows OS Any other setup instructions For what it's worth, here are my tech specs: Macbook Pro retina late 2013 OSX: 10.9.5 Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory: 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB Thanks a ton for the help!
1. You can get a free two week trial version of parallels from their site. http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/ 2. Any version of parallels will work. You can effectively extend your two week trial for up to 6 weeks by trialing older versions (9 & 8) of parallels. 3. You'll need your own windows operating system. 4. Google is your friend. Windows XP service pack 3 works best, though you can also use windows 7. For zak that shouldn't be a problem, but for HT you'll have to GFX 20-30 times per run if you're using win 7, vs barely at all for XP. 5. I only installed once, and that was months ago but iirc it's a very simple and self explanatory installation. Most of the information in the VMware thread for people on windows running VMs for HT applies to parallels as well.
Thanks! I'm currently installing Parallels 10, though having some trouble locating a Windows XP .iso file. Can you suggest any specific site/torrent download link?
I used the one linked in the VMware guide thread that I mentioned previously. http://royals.ms/forum/threads/how-to-horntail-without-graphical-glitches-closing-your-client.16643/
Okay, so I found an XP .iso, but I messed up the first installation. I can't seem to delete the first virtual machine I created
I'm running windows 7 on parallels/bootcamp and I get a gr2d error when trying to run maple. This implies a graphics problem, which I don't know how to solve because I'm on macbook air and it uses an integrated graphics card. I've already run setup.exe to try and troubleshoot.
GR2D error used to be quite common. Try using the search function on the forums to find out what's worked for other people.
Okay, I feel like I'm live-blogging my quest to install Parallels, but here's another update: I successfully installed Parallels, along with Windows XP. There was a slight issue with figuring out the wifi situation on the Windows side, but that was dealt with. Successfully installed Royals, and hopped on. Everything works great so far, except one tiny thing. There's a slight delay in my keyboard inputs. I'll press the attack key, and a few milli-seconds or whatever later, my character will execute the command. It seems like this input delay only occurs with Royals, and nothing else. Has anyone had this happen to them before? I mean, I'll take it if it means everything else runs flawlessly. It's not super annoying, but it'd make bossing that little bit more difficult. Yet again I'm asking for more help. You guys are the best.
I don't experience this when running parallels on my mac. Just try playing around with the settings that parallels gives you i suppose?
Yeah, I've tried to find some sort of keyboard latency setting in Parallels, but no luck. I'm convinced that it's something to do with the Royals client itself, being that this doesn't happen when I tried other programs in XP (Internet explorer, notepad, etc). I guess I'll try browsing the Parallels support forums, maybe they'll know something more about this.
The gameplay in Royals isn't laggy, just that my keyboard inputs are delayed. Yeah, I just checked this. It defaulted by only have 256MB allocated to video memory, and 8GB for RAM with only 4 CPUs. I would naturally increase the video memory, but are there any other settings like this that I should change?
That's for virtual box. I don't see how installing guest additions would help with running parallels. And I've done a lot of searching around, and the general consensus seems to be that the gr2d error is a problem with the graphics driver or with direct x. Since I have direct x allowed on my parallel bootcamp of windows 7, I need to update my driver on windows 7. The problem is that macbook air uses an integrated graphics card, so I can't find a driver for it on windows 7. Apparently it's intel hd 3000, but the downloaded driver says my machine doesn't have the necessary specifications. The same for the mac bootcamp support software 5.1.5621 (I have a mid 2011 macbook air). The drivers said my machine didn't have the right specifications when I tried running the setup.exe. I don't know what else to do.
After re-installing the client and .wz files, I'm still running into this delayed keyboard input problem. I'm at a wall here, since this problem only occurs with Royals. I've installed other games (Heroes 3 Complete ftw) and the input lag is nowhere to be found. Has anyone at all had anything similar to this? Any advice helps at this point. As for my Parallels specs, I'm using Windows XP SP3. I opted for non-coherence mode. The mode where you have a window containing the whole Windows machine desktop OS. I've adjusted my video memory since my last posting about it. No clue where to go next...
Did you ever solve this? I just reinstalled Parallels for the 4th time and its still delayed... I tried installing VMware and royals doesn't want to work for some reason, just deleted that. I want to make parallels work as I've had it before. I'm thinking it has to be an older version?
Use VMware. VMware Workstation 10.0.4 works perfect for me. Idk about older or newer versions. Didn't have to do any voodoo to get it to work. Just worked with no issues. Edit: if anyone needs helps with VMware shoot me a pm. May or may not be able to offer some ideas.
Last try at Parallels (version 9 this time) if this doesn't work I'll try VMware again lol I have had both work for me before - I do generally prefer parallels (when its working).
I couldn't get rid of the input lag when using Windows 7, unfortunately. But, I did get Parallels + XP to work with no such delay ^_^ I also tried VMware, but that gave me tons of FPS drops. It was unreliable Edit: Here's everything I tried as far as virtual machines go: http://www.royals.ms/forum/threads/mac-user-in-need-of-desperate-help.38323/ Thom gave me the last piece of the puzzle I needed to get parallels playable
Alright so I came here after googling: How to play MapleRoyals on Parallels. Guys im puzzled, tired and almost lost for hope. I tried a MILLION things to play Royals on Parralels 2022. To be specific. I have a Macbook Air M1 chip. Parallels only works with Windows 11 since it's the latest version. Also Parallels DOES NOT accept any other Virtual Machines I try to download. (since it's a paid virtual machine itself) I've tried: compatibility settings, DOS, Virtual machines, getting Windows 10 instead of 11. Nothing seems to work.. Anyone out here playing MS Royals on Windows 11 - Parallels? On a M1 chipped Macbook? Much love
