First of all, this threads is not to blame anyone, just want to voice out my frustrations. I think I have wasted 48hours of my life. With yesterday only gaining one slime kill counter, and today gaining no kill counter at all. I feel like I am waste more of the precious time of my life if I am going to continue to participate in this event. So far I only managed to get 9counter. Others, maybe more or maybe less, but I think all of us deserve more than the counters we currently have. Waiting up every 4hours, trying to record down the time, put an alarm so that we don't get overslept, standby on the forums waiting while the servers are down so that we are able to catch up on time when the slime is spawned, missed the slime a few times due to inaccurate timer..

I have enough of this, I will just let my counter stay as it is and not gonna spend any more effort for the event. Again let me clarify this, I am not blaming anyone for this. I know the server down and lags are not what the GMs intended, I know the GMs are all working very hard, and have put their best for MapleRoyals. But I can't participate in this event further. I feel like I am wasting my precious time of my life. Thank you GMs for everything you have contributed to the server. Good luck to all Royallers <3

That's your choice to set an alarm every 4 hours. You only need to kill 1 or 2 slimes a day to get the ring, and even then you might get it before the end of the event by luck.

Even if you did get the points for killing slimes, you still wasted 48 hours of your precious life on a game.

I don't see the difference, plus a ring like that wouldn't make much difference to your gaming experience either. Just like Matt said, you only need 1-2 kills a day to get a ring anyways.

Just keep in mind that this is just a game, a virtual reality that could potentially dissapear in 52ms. Make sure you spend time with friends and family as well.

Something to consider: Should all active and participating players to be able to obtain the ring? What's the cutoff for "active"?

Only killing one slime per day won't cut it. The counter was added on the 7th, and if I recall correctly, the kill counter was lost for everyone a day or two later. So say we have Feb 8th through Mar 2nd to accumulate 30 kills. That's 23 days - 16 weekdays and 7 weekend days. Now I'm sure a lot of people, myself included, aren't able to be around for more than 1 slime on average during each weekday. That leaves us 7 weekend days to get the other 14 kills. So it's possible, but there's not a lot of room for error. And unfortunately, the event has not been without error. Recent freezes and kill count rollbacks haven't done people like me any favors reaching that 30 kills mark. I've been at 5 kills since Sunday evening.

Now, I'm not saying the ring should just be handed out to everyone who afks one time in Amoria while slime is killed. I also understand that reaching 30 kills is not the only way to get the ring. However, if someone plays daily, and attends every slime they're online for, should they receive a ring? This is not me saying they should - that's up to the staff. I just wanted to bring this issue up for some thought.

We've been discussing the ring a lot over the last week, so since it's been brought up, let me summarize staff's current view of it.

    • It's an end-game item, as it is, and thus making it purely up to chance to receive was deemed unacceptable. There is no current equivalent to it since it can be worn with other rings.
    • It's an event item, and I'll bring up the example of the GMS Lunchbox event to say that anything ridiculously difficult or exclusive is against the spirit of an event.
    • Since it's both of the above, it brings us at a discord; in order to make it not completely luck based, we need to make a commitment/activity based method of obtaining it as well.
    • Since it's both of the above, that method can neither be too easy (else we're handing out an end-game item to everyone) nor too hard (else the event becomes exclusive and people will cry).
With those four statements, staff discussion drew to the number 30. When we implemented the counter on the 7th, there were three weekends and 23 total days remaining in the event. Going under the assumption that the average player sleeps for 8 hours a day (lmfao) and has some form or real life commitment for another 8, be it school or a job, that leaves 8 hours of available time, meaning at most, they'll be able to attend 3 slimes per day, but more likely only 2. Two per days left us with the number 46, however we knew that there were going to be issues with the event, and we had to account for stability issues (since while we've been working our hardest to avoid them, the possibility of them still arises), and so we decided that requiring only one slime per day and two per weekend day, when assumedly the average player has more time to be online, was not an unreasonable number. 23 total days plus one more slime extra on each of the six weekend days left us at 29, which we rounded to 30 for simplicity. If you cannot be online for a day, it simply means you need to make up for it another day. It's a forgiving yet still challenging count; it allows people who have the time to play to get the ring faster when they deserve it, and those who don't have time to play 15hrs/day or don't have the luck to win it from a Gachapon to still have a chance at getting the item.

As for the OP's point that we've lost a lot of slime time because of last night's downtime as well as the first day's rollback, we're still discussing that, so keep your ears open and keep hunting Slimes in the meantime, lest you throw in the towel too early and realize you may have had a shot after all.

The Lunchbox event was a back-to-school event about seven years ago or something where all you had to do was log in once per day for 12 days straight and you'd be handed what would eventually become the end-game weapon for all Heroes and Paladins. It came Fast 4 speed and had more base attack than any of the warrior weapons at the time with the exception of the Crushed Skull.
