It's great that you guys put in a counter for the ring, but I find it alarming as to how rare the ring from the boxes themselves actually are. I do believe I heard from a GM (not sure which one) that the ring was about as common as the untradable Christmas chairs from the last event. Well guess what? It's not that common at all. Now I'm not here to complain about not getting a ring (I have 26 kills at the time of making this thread on both my main and my mule) all I'm saying is that the ring is ridiculously rare for something you can't even sell/trade. Now this all leads me into whatever the next event may have in store. It would be nice not to have a repeat of some nice item that adds a little extra bonus, but is not (excuse my language, lack of a better term) a bitch to get, haha. Just confirming your suspicion that the ring is more rare than initially disclaimed. I've opened at least 50 presents and was able to get one of each chair plus multiples, but not one ring.
In other threads, it's been posted that due to the counter, you need 1 slime per weekday and 2 per weekend day to get the ring, guaranteed. Requiring that little time is (imo) not much to ask for the most powerful item available for a certain equip slot. They mean as rare as the jack frost, phantom, and peppermint throne from the snowman event, which seems to be about right.
You've already made a thread about your opinion towards the event system before, I don't see why you'd make another one. If a player is to attend 1 or 2 kills per day since the beginning of the event, the chances are fairly high that they've already gotten the big prize. Of course there's going to be a lot of players who haven't gotten it yet by luck, but even then, there's still 2 weeks left on the event so even if they only grab 1-2 kills a day they'd still get it. As it stands, every player who wants the ring has the ability to get it, even with the worst luck in the world. Making it easier would be .. stupid.. so to say.. If they'd make it too easy to grab, towards the end of the event nobody would be doing the boss anymore, is that what you want to happen?
Seems about right? No, I really don't believe that. I probably did 20 snowmen or maybe 25, and I had at least 3 of each of those chairs by then. The last one was about losing an entire day's worth of slime kills, not about how extremely rare the ring is as opposed to what was previously stated before by staff. The other one was about taking our extremely common items from rewards (E.G. 5 red envelopes) Both options are extremely tedious, whether you do 1 kill each weekday and 2 each weekend, or get as many in as humanly possible. The disadvantage of the former of the two being that if you were to miss one or two too many days near the end by some chance, you're completely screwed. People want other things from the event, like rare chairs, so I doubt it would die off if the ring was just a little more common. It's not like we're asking for the ring to be something you can get within 5 kills. You would think between 50+ presents (between my mule and I) that there would be at least one ring. They could try to throw in some other equally rare (but perhaps not quite as useful) items to keep people interested in future events. I'm all in favor of stuff like AP resets and other useful items a player can actually use, instead of sit on. I just don't like being told one thing, but seeing another instead. The people who accept events just the way they are contribute nothing to future events, the people who give feedback are the ones who help make future events more enjoyable for all types of Royalers.
The fact that they give us events, that they give us compensation during the events.. it's a gift they grant us, asking for more is just greed. Naturally, feedback is always helpful but in the end it's Matt's choice of how he wants the events to turn out. Whether it's 1 item that takes effort to acquire, or a bunch of stuff that is more common, we are to accept his preference. As there aren't many rings in the game, this event draws a lot of players towards it because they want to try to get it, I think it's an improvement compared to the Pilgrim hat which I ended up buying the last material for. And as for the chairs, they're vanity and in this event tradeable.. If you so desire to acquire those, most of them go for around 20-50m on the free market.
A lot of thought is put in to any seasonal events we implement. We try to make them as enjoyable as possible, rewarding and sometimes challenging. But since there's only so much testing we can do within our staff, it's always hard to know how it's going to be when implemented to the audience of our ~600 active players. We have made some small adjustments near the beginning of the event which did include changing the reward chances, and we found that the current rate (based on how many people were obtaining the ring per day) seemed acceptable.
I wasn't really asking for more, just giving input on how the next event could go. And I wouldn't really call it a gift, these events benefit both us players and them as as server owners, as it keeps us interested and gives them more traffic and attractions. And we all appreciate the hard work you guys do. I'm not making these threads to complain or anything like that, I honestly like to give the extra feedback that you may or may not be noticing. It's a nice luxury of playing on a private server with staff that actually listens and takes in ideas and suggestions to improve the overall experience of the game. That's something that makes Maple Royals an excellent server, as opposed to any other or even GMS (yuck)
I never got the phantom chair and I can easily say I did more than 30 snowman's, so the rarity compared with the ring of this event seems right. If everyone got the ring without effort I would find it most disappointing and we wouldn't need an event only a GM dropping rings in FM.
