I have recently been posting here on the forum, and i felt like it was time to delete them, due to either me getting my answer or because the conversations and activities died out on them.

I looked around to see if i could find the ''delete post'' option, and to my surprise there was none.

I was told that the only way to delete them was to ask the admin/moderators and to provide them with a reasonable reason to why you would wanna delete your own post and that they would have to deem your reasoning to be acceptable, to do so.

To me. This makes no sense. It is my post i wrote it and therefor i should have the ability to remove it whenever i see fit. What is the point of having a bunch of dead posts that you can't interact
with because they have been locked, around on the forum ?

Some times you just have a question and when it gets answered you feel like ''ok i got what i wanted time to remove the post so that no more people come and give the same answers, and also because it will now be too late''.

I had a question about two Priest skills. My question was, why do we take 15 in Doom and 15 in Summon dragon. Someone quickly answered that we take Summon dragon because it is a prequiset to Bahamut. and Doom because it is just a good skill and can help to deal with harder mobs.

Boom, i got my answer, now why can't i delete it ?
Why is it necessary for me to go and ask an admin/moderators if they could delete it for me and also give them a reasoning to why i want to do so ?

Should we have the ability to delete our own posts ? or should we have to bother the admins/moderators ?

Why would you want to delete a post that could help others in the future? Sure YOU may find them useless but others would still benefit from the answers.

The forum is not for you as an individual, it's a community that we build upon. By posting you are contributing to the community.

Imagine a new player comes in to the forum, to ask the same question that you had, this person could've found the perfect answer in a split second by using the search button (and finding your thread) or we could've redirected that person to your thread.

Doesn't that sound great? Why would you remove the thread if it helps other people?

You can delete posts, you just can't delete the threads itself

I don't see the need to constantly create threads and deleting them upon being answered
Aren't the answered threads a good reference for future players?

Although your question is "I got my answer, now why can't I delete it", I would like to confirm - why is there a need to delete it?
If your concern is about other players constantly necro/bump the thread, you can request Mods to lock the thread
I do not see the need of deleting threads

If you dont want your posts to remain but still want answers to questions may I suggest you utilise the shoutbox instead?

Changing your post titles to singular alphabets seem like a dick move to me imo. Doesnt help in deleting your posts nor does it help others benefit from the discussion people had.

It just makes it seem like you didnt want others to know the answer to specific questions you asked.

Starting a thread doesnt give you the right to remove it. That would discourage people from taking their own time to reply to any threads because whats the point if its going to get removed. I also dont think that recently active threads should be closed just because the person who started the thread no longer care for the discussion.

What if it is a post of me asking to buy a service ? How helpfull is that to others ?

It would be moved to marketplace section instead of discussion.

If you dont want permanent threads then just stick to using the shoutbox.

I dont see any of your logic working and the only plausible reason you want them deleted is either you're selfish or you have something to hide, neither are sufficient reasons to substantiate the removal of threads even by OP

I can reply to this comment and then remove it. Who knows i might have done it already and you would never have known.

How would the ablitiy to delete a post discourage anyone to comment on it ? Care to elaborate on those absurbed claims ?
You commented on this post and then left. As far as you know, you have done your part, Now if the poster reads your comment or not, it doesn't matter.

I meant to have comments of for this post, mainly because i just wanted to have a pole. I forgot to turn comments off, i planned on not reading any comments at all and wait for the pole time to end and see the resaults.
I decided to close it down earlier because i realised that this is Maplestory and its community hates having freedom and options. Because i decided to close it down earlier i thought that i might aswell read the comments.

There i just told you that i wasn'tg going to read anyones comments. now if i had said that in the description, would you have commented ? i do beleive so.

    Because it is my choice.

When i had some questions, i didn't search for it and see if it was there. I just posted it and got an answer within 5 minutes. Is 5 minutes too long for you ?

You just answered your own question.

I could ask mods every single day to remove my post, ( if you could message tham that is ) or just do it myself.

Take this post for example. What will this bring to the community ? Most if not all other Ms communtities that have a forum, they don't allow you to delete your own posts. Most people will already know this and therefor not ask or look up why you can't delete your posts.

Lets use this post as an analogy as requested by you.

If this post gets deleted, theres a chance some new player like yourself, may ask the same question i.e "why cant posts be deleted".

This post was made 6 hours ago and despite several people explaining common sense, you are unable to understand the answer.

If Royals gets 5 new players a day hypothetically, do you think the community is going to spend 6hours for each and everyone of them to understand something so basic like we are doing for you now?

Or we could just leave this post here and everyone benefits.

This is honestly the most R thing that i have ever read.

''It would be moved to marketplace section instead of discussion''. Ok ? I posted there before, and guess what ? i couldn't delete them there either. So this means nothing.

So because i want to remove my question from the forum, i am selfish ? HOW!!!. You can't just call me selfish and then not elaborate why i am.

Let me just prove your ignorance. You think that it is selfish for someone to remove a post, and yet you recommend people who would like the options to remove their post, to stick to the shout box, where messages will just disapear after awhile, due to people posting there and that causes messages to move up and up and after a short while, it won't be present anymore.
You can't search for that question in the shoutbox, so if someone had that question and wanted to get it answered, they couldn't just as if i had deleted my post.

The other reason to why sticking to the shoutbox isn't the best idea ever, is that it will get less views and there for less chances of people giving you the answer. Also you won't get notified if somone does text on the shoutbox, so if someone does, you would have no idea.

''you have something to hide''. HAHAHAAHHA, are you serious ? wait wait you totaly are. HAHAHAHAAHHA. Why would i post something that i didn't want anyone to know ? HAHAHAHAHAHa. Honestly did you think before you made this comment ? I honestly don't think that you did. All of your claims or thought could so easily be debunked and countered.

Please think before you make a comment and trying to ''lecture someone''

If this is such obvious thing to people (that you can't or shouldn't delete your own posts) then why would they ask ?

Several people explaining common sense to me ? Who ? i re-read the comments and no-one gave a reasonable explanation to why you shouldn't have the ability to remove ones post.

Again, you don't give any reasoning to your thinking. Why is it stupid ? you can't just say that it is stupid and not explain why it is so.
