Good evening dear maplers. as far as you all know, each type of warrior weapon has a unique one that stands out in terms of either speed, level, looks or attack Swords: red katana, the fastest sword in game and Stonetooth of course, a fast 2h sword Pole arms: purple surfboard, while most polearms are at slow speed there is a level 95 PA which is fast Spears: sky skis, having nice looks, normal speed and decent attack Blunt weapons: colorful tube is fast and lets not forget the OP crushed skull.. and at last, for the type of weapons that people just drop or NPC: the axes. NO 2h axe that stands out, having to use colonian (level 90) which is extermely hard to get. because after that the level 100,110 are slow. NO 1h axe that stands out, all 1h axes are normal speed. I dont even mention that in terms of range and speed swords>>axes.. so behalf myself, as a loyal axe user and my buddies axe users (yes we exsist). please consider adding some new unique axes or upgrading some old ones so that we too will have our unique weapon and style. I'll have to agree here , but then again mapleroyals didn't set this , the patch v62 is just like this. Yet i think it would be fair to balance some features here ( the server isn't bound by any maplestory laws ) to make it more fun and diverse for players.
My suggestion would be changing the dragon axe to fast (5) and dragon battle axe to normal (6). Still not as good as a stonetooth, but closer. However they've already expressed no interest in any balancing. Regardless, I'm working on an axe hero because axes look way better than swords.
Not that it's any consolation, but there are two widely hunted areas that do drop the Colonian Axe which are Squids and Dreamy Ghosts. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing more content in the game and this doesn't seem to do much in terms of giving a class an unfair advantage. Axes should get a buff seeing as Hero damage is more in favor towards swords because of their stable inherent range.
Dreamy ghosts dont drop them, they instead drop level 80 one. as far as i know besides bosses the only mob that drops them is Memory guardian.
I feel like you chose the novelty of being an Axe warrior for a reason and there's really no need to balance it, though... Edit: Don't get me wrong, I have mad respect for you, but if you were to balance out axes and swords then where would the novelty go?
The appeal of being an axe hero is that the brandish formula allows you to see 1 bigger number than a sword hero would, at the cost of having a lower dpm. The massive speed disadvantage and the fact that axes are far less numerous than spartas/stonetooths just makes it worse than it needs to be.

My first ever character in ms from 2005 was an axe fighter, I don't expect them to get a boost to be at the same level with swords but the gap in range/speed is high and also the fact that every other weapon has a unique one.. All I want is that when people open a fighter they will consider choosing axe style too in terms of dpm
Hey guys while I do support the idea, I'd just like to share with everyone that axes do less damage when stabbing in comparison to slashing. About 66% (or 75%) the total damage if I recall. And guess what skill involves one stab and one slash? That'd be brandish. So it's really an uphill task to balance out the axes and swords, although I do feel a unique axe would help. Cheers!
That's what we're saying. Axes are already inherently terrible thanks to the way brandish works. The fact that the swords themselves are also better (in attack speed and availability) is sad.
Unfairness. Haha I'd like a change too. Guess this issue was addressed in Bigbang but... Eh. Thats pre bigbang for you.
Big bang wasn't bad (apart from some of the the map/mob changes being drastically different for no good reason), potential/hammers/enhancement/gach/2x/everything else p2w broke the game in the patches leading up to it.
GMS actually did a great job of balancing all the jobs by making all of them overpowered. If every class is able to solo Zakum within a minute but the way you approach it is unique for each class, that's when you have a perfectly balanced game with the incentive to create different classes. Maplestory was never designed to be this be-all end-all balanced game but that shouldn't limit us from making it happen; after all, we are a private server. Going back on topic as well as including other similar threads (Paladin buff, MM buff, etc), these buffs won't make their respective classes anymore stronger than our already favored counterparts, nor will they make them become picked over them. But it will open up more options for players and create a more diverse pool of classes within our server so why not?
