Bossing Remove Ephenia (Fairy boss) teleport mechanic and lower Boss spawn HP

    That’s true for sure too! However that most Lv. 110-135 people cannot kill it probably has other reasons too which would lead to an off topic discussion.

    Don't quite want to nerf everything, idm if the boss spawn isnt nerfed, I would appreciate it sure. But what i want is to make the teleport mechanic disabled, the reason for this as stated is that everytime she teleports she makes a invisible clone of herself, get her to teleport enough times and those clones stack up, which eats up memory on your maplestory window, once that memory exceeds a certain limit the window crashes and you dc.

    People sometime take time to kill Ephenia, and if you're unlucky and she teleports more than usual the invisible clones stack up and you end up dcing, this is a problem that would affect a lot of people, not just me, which is why the primary objective of this feedback thread is the disabling of teleportation mechanic.

    Hmm , i only dc from last 2 patch that has bug or internet issue, maybe u should try reclient or add ram?i only use 20-30% ram memory most of the time.

    Got 16gb ram, uppgrading to 32gb would cost quite a penny, and im not looking into doing it in the near future, unless i uppgrade my pc and get a newer motherboard that accept the latest ram modules, since my current motherboard only accept DDR3 RAM, but that would cost me getting a new motherboard + cpu + new DDR4/5 (depending on what motherboard i get) and a whole bunch of new stuff... so yeah

    I've had this issue before. What I've resorted to (as a soloing shadower) is to switch to bstep+bot when summons come out. If she teleports, I'll want to down the summons quickly anyway to continue using assassinate. Using this alternating bstep+bot strategy results in negligible time loss, and is perfectly safe. I still hate the jankyness of dark sight in general, but in this instance, after some time, I decided to give it a pass.

    Generalizing the previous strategy, when fairies come out one can consider positioning themselves properly and using their mobbing skills to simultaneously do damage to Ephenia and the surrounding mobs. You mention that this is an early 4th job boss (and I agree). Are you saying that two or three early 4th jobbers with Energizers can't down this boss properly? Or perhaps, 1 bishop and 2 attackers? We can discuss on whether or not it is worth for players in that level range to team up for this boss below. In fact, in my early 4th job days I did team up with someone and did Chao and Ephenia daily (after Pap), with HS. From what I recall, I found it to be a good investment of my time for the EXP gained up until mid to late 120s.

    Here is some info:
    Ephenia has: 15,000,000 HP, Fire and Holy Weakness, and gives 3,200,000 EXP.
    Ephenia's Ancient Fairy (Purple, poison) has: 350,000 HP, Fire, Holy, Ice resistance and Lightning is normal.
    Ephenia's Shining Fairy (Green, stun) has: 500,000 HP, Fire, Holy, Ice resistance, and Lightning Weak.
    (The summons give about 13k EXP per kill, if anyone cares.)
    Each time Ephenia summons mobs, she summons four Ancient and two Shining Fairies. This totals 2,400,000 HP per summon, so the aforementioned 3,000,000 figure is fairly accurate.

    Perhaps, given this information, you and others can specifically lay out what you would change, why you would change it, and what it would look like long term. Personally, outside of memory issues, I don't really think any significant changes are warranted. A balance in reward must be maintained between those early level runs and daily grind solos. I'm trying my best to think from the perspective of the earlier levels, as I have used this content at that time.

    Here is a link to an accurate EXP table. Maybe one place to start is seeing where the expected EXP gain lies in terms of other, later game bosses and how they compare (HP:EXP ratio, time needed to down boss, etc.).

    If you anyone has ideas of what party compositions would be the most challenging for the boss in its current form, I'd be happy to simulate a run in our test server so that we can get a more accurate idea of this whole situation, but again, I think it's fairly clear that significant changes are not warranted.

    Lastly, we've discussed reducing the timer to 10 minutes. From our experience, this would prevent players from being in the map long enough to crash from memory issues. This sounds like a cheap measure, but personally I think the boss fight should've had a 10-15 minute timer from implementation.

    oh man, i was beginning to lose hope of seeing an actual thoughtful response

    I would limit the fairy spawns to only occur three times during the entire fight: at 75%, 50%, and 25% health. This prevents the fight from dragging on indefinitely, while not changing much for those who can already kill her efficiently.

    In the same vein, we could also limit the number of times she teleports, which would probably fix the memory issues. Maybe like 5-6 times.

    I would also remove the spawns' status and knockback immunity. Their ice resistance means they still can't be frozen, but making them vulnerable to stun/kb would open up more forms of counterplay, like backspinning or rushing them away from Ephenia so single-target skills work again. It makes no sense that Chao's summons can be stunned and pushed back but Ephenia's summons can't.

    Please just nerf her annoyingness, I almost get panic attacks to kill her it's crazy how annoying she is with:

    Every boss can be annoying to a certain degree, BUT SHE HAS IT ALL OMG

    I beg you, remove something from her t.t Honestly, she is not enjoyable at all to solo, at least as a BM/NL, dunno about other classes

    In Update 81 Ephenia was changed so that she now spawns her fairies at 80%, 60%, 40%, and 20% HP remaining. The timer has been adjusted to 10 minutes. No other modifications have been made.

    Someone kept swearing why BM's Phoenix doesn't have any burn (Damage over Time) effect on the stupid fairy spawns. Chao's spawns are affected by the DoT but Ephenia's fairies are godlike. OP as hell. lol
