So I am excited to say I logged in to mapleroyals for the first time in my life yesterday. The last time I played maplestory was probably 14-16 years ago. I was shocked that it was identical to what I had remembered as a child, it almost brought a tear to my eye. I even saw a bunch of you guys on victoria island where I expected their to be zero population. I even got to chat and farm with someone that was creating a new alt char. I totally thought I wouldn't run into anyone in the early game. I just think this whole reboot is great. Im just sad it took me this long to discover it. I love all of the little fun additions added and events. The vote system for rx is just lovely (dw I know the rules xD) which was really cool to see. I'd love to chat and meet more of you. And hopefully once I get stronger we can party up! I have a lot to learn . I'd appreciate any Newby tips strictly relevant to the server.
Welcome! Before you do anything, read the rules thoroughly. New players sometimes get permanently banned for stupid little things. The staff has 0 tolerance and the chances of getting unbanned is as low as the temperature at Siberia. Spoiler Even lower.

Read the rules thoroughly and follow it like the gospel. Even stuff like buying hacked items unknowingly can get you banned. And like others have said - there is 0 tolerance, staff will not hear you out, and they tend to enforce a guilty until proven innocent policy over here. Happy mapling

May I kindly ask which part of my statement was misinformation? 1) Buying hacked items even unknowingly can get you banned - This is common knowledge, here you go as an example: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/ban-appeal.149640/ 2) 0 tolerance on permanent, lifelong bans - We all know once you are permanently banned, your IP and you as a person are banned forever, which is never reversible. 3) Guilty until proven innocent in the banning system of the server - Once you are banned, YOU need to prove your innocence even if the ban was unjustified. You will not get unbanned until YOU have proven your innocence, which is the opposite of how real life judicial system works, which is sad frankly. The server would have 3X the population it has currently if it had a more just and reformed banning system centered around 2nd chances and forgivement (except for severe offences like hacking and RWT obviously). If it employed a more modern approach such as "innocent until proven guilty" rather than the tyrannical, ancient dictatorship "guilty until proven innocent" model that it currently employs, along with warmth and humanism to the banning/ban appeal process, far less people would have left the server and the server would be thriving with multiplicably more players than it has right now. The failure of the server and the admins to believe in and co-construct the server WITH the players is the main reason for the declining popularity and the failure to retain so many players.

We only issue bans when we have evidence for it, myself and a few others on Staff have said that off and on for nearly two years now. Mistakes can happen and that’s why we request double-checks done by Admins if we do not have access to the information needed.

Don't take this game too seriously, and always remember why you came here in the first place. There's about a 10% chance you'll end up sticking around and playing the game every day, and the way people on this server do that is incredibly soul sucking. You'll wake up a year later and wonder why you've spent a majority of your free time doing something repetitive and grindy to acquire the most absurd gear that isn't even part of the nostalgic experience, and ultimately all of this is so you can feel sufficient to your peers. Remember you're wonderful, you have value, and if you meet anyone you end up being good friends with here, cherish that. You're here for a good time, not a long time.
