just the hammers implementation in this game would make it so different, i'm just trying to imagine it...damn....
I'm more excited with the skill patch than anything. This decision is solely resting on what Matt wants. Recently he's claimed that while he has more time getting use to all the mechanics and issues with this current patch, he's more open and knowledgeable to what his idea of an ideal server is. I have faith that whatever decision he goes with that it's be well thought out and justified.
Why not just release another client with v83 ? As I read somewhere before, Matt saying that it would be a completely different server but it's still under "Mapleroyals". So players have the option of playing the v62 or the v83
I don't think I would have said that... It would quite literally be server suicide. We have nowhere near a high enough player base to cut it in half and hope each one survives. Not to mention the logistical and policing nightmare it would be.
I'm against Pb just cuz everyone with perfect weps already get ruined with the release of level 120 weps
instead of targa / scarlion helms add rings (or maybe even a belt) like they did on krex. would still make zhelms useful and would add insentive to killing both. nerf gallos to a point where it is not game breaking so it wouldn't ruin the rest of the training spots. if belt slots are added, make pink bean drop witches deep purple belt (3-6 per kill) to make it possible to sell belt runs or something... idk lol (instead of rock of time)
It's not the fact that the Targa/Scarlion Helms are overpowered. It's the fact that they are easier to obtain than Zakum Helmets.
Everybody has their own opinions. IMO, I totally support v0.83. In my eyes, the content available in v0.62 is relatively limited. I had alot of fun on this server for a few months, but quickly found my interest dwindling afterwards. I am still active and all, but find myself half-afking alot of the times when I've used all of my Zakum runs, completed the monthly events, and have already grinded for hours. Servers should always progress, and I remember v0.83 being one of the funnest times of GMS. Anything that players vote might break the spirit of nostalgia can be nerfed or, in some cases, even removed along the way. I guess some of the biggest issues of concern are 120 weapons, SoK, and hammers. 120 weapons and hammers add for more to aim for. It's an extension in content that I'm in support of and would help in fighting new bosses. I understand how SoK might ruin the spirit of actually running bosses for the equipment, and I'm personally on the fence with it. I wouldn't mind this particular feature being implemented, nor would I mind it not being implemented. Besides these, I am sure that there are many great features in v0.83 that we've just forgotten about. Not to mention more packets available for developers to take advantage of. This can open up so many options and can fix so many of the current bugs. Of course, it'll be up to the staff. I think when it comes down to it, it's how much of the current playerbase would leave vs how much of the current playerbase is in support of it, and how much of a new playerbase MR would get.
Yes, yes it was. I agree, there's a good reason why Nexon patched those skills up. The little buff you get for having a KoC would make it an interesting challenge, but I think rates are map based. Zak prequest is easier. The scar prequest is nearly impossible to do at lower levels without someone to kill stuff for you, and we all know people would cash in on that here.
Actually, it might serve as a nice little motivator for people to try other classes. KoC is kind of a trial run type of character imo. I'm talking about through the eyes of someone who's lvl 50 (for zak) and lvl 80 (scar) Nobody ever thinks about lower lvl people -_- https://maplesushi.wordpress.com/2009/10/30/scarlion-and-targa-quests/ That's all the stuff you have to do to be able to get a scar hat. Gallopers are lvl 94, a lvl 80 character would have a bit of a hard time dealing with them. For Zak, all you have to do is find some keys, then do an easy jump quest. Pretty sure Zakum prequest is easier.
The end of that link that you sent solidifies why Zakum Helmets will become semi-dead content. For a lower level, these helmets are a luxury, not a right or something that everyone needs in order to progress in the game.
I'm aware of what the bottom says, but scar hats are still about the same as a zhelm. The stat differences are minimal. Zhelms won't be dead content, because people like to scroll things. Sometimes you end up failing a scrolled helm, or you feel like you can do a little better. Also, The zak prequest is still easier, and people are getting faster and faster at zak runs. Zhelms take a little more time to get than scar hats, but there's also the exp and the other drops. A person could bounce between helms until they get what they want, or you could get a targar hat for the int and scroll it with a couple of helm int scrolls for washing. Regardless, lower levels cannot obtain these without paying for on or the other, so I don't see the issue whatsoever. The bottom is also taking into consideration that GMS had a limit of 2 Zak runs per day. That guys is also QQing about how "long" the zak JQ is (and it's not long at all), so his or her opinion is diminished a bit if you ask me . It's not a luxury. Anyone who is anyone has a zhelm or scar/tar hat, it's not a luxury, but a necessity, especially for warriors who are trying to go low/no dex. It also adds a good amount of int, which is something almost all classes need, since HP washing is a thing. If we got SoK, zhelms would not be something people won't want, as long as you aren't currently using one (like if you had a better scar/targar hat) and you picked up a godly one. Zak helms will never be dead content.
Just going to comment on one small part of a post: He simply states that it's long. A JQ may be easy for you, but to others it may not be. For some people , whether because of disability or simply because they're no good at it, JQs can take HOURS to complete. I've had to suffer my way through the zak JQ three times for 3 characters, and each time has taken over an hour to do. The first time I spent nearly 10 hours cumulative (a few breaks in between when I got too frustrated or too annoyed to continue). It's not as easy as just "watch a video", it's also got a lot to do with coordination and timing. Please don't discount someone else's opinion just because it doesnt match up with yours. You may find the zak JQ easy, but others don't. Some people find it extremely easy and like to do it for fun with friends. The quest to do Scarlion/Targa seems just like a large kill/collect quest like the krexel pre-quests are. My opinion, not reflecting the staff as a whole, would be that if we made Scarlion/targa with exp/HP/damage comparable to Zakum and 2x/day as well, then it would be fine. It would be a good alternative for people who are unable to do the JQ, or who don't want to struggle through it. Those who dont want to do a long kill quest chain but like JQs can stick with zakum and eventually work their way around to scar/targ. The issue isnt that the helms are godly. It's just the easiness of the bosses in comparison. Buff up the bosses to be more difficult and all's fine with the world.
So other than accuracy, how is a Zakum Helmet not a luxury? Just because many people have it does not discount it as not being a luxury. Being low/no dex in itself is a luxury because Warriors were originally supposed to have Dex to off set their lack of accuracy. Okay? Those two issues have little to nothing to do with each other. Or you could scroll a Green Banana with Int and not have to miss out and waste 70 levels potential MP.
