I was hacking today and...

I got banned. IGN was NickShoots (I am positively sure that a lot of you saw me on the server today and yesterday). I am actually upset, not because I can't play anymore, but because of what the server has now become.

I started playing back in August and the main reason why I chose MapleRoyals from the top 100 list was because it was v62 and I knew that was the same reason other people chose to play it as well. Because of the nostalgic aspect of the game, I refuse to play GMS and what it consists of now (played GMS since 2006).

I fell in love with this server mainly because of the community, and the fact that the rates were very similar to OdinMS (very popular private server back in 2008 that got sued by Nexon). And because I took a small break from this server a week or two ago because of school, getting a new job, and buying a car, I was pissed to see that a server wipe had occurred during that time. Just everything, gone. All the time spent spent building your character, grinding, making in-game friends, just gone, like it had never existed.

So I created a new account and made a pirate. It was sad to go to the Ch1 FM and only see like 4 people and 3 of them were just afk. To go to FM1 and see pointless shops with crap stuff in them. It was like I went into a world where a Zombie Apocalypse had happened (not because the FM is halloween themed, lol) and people were just trying to do something to survive (i guess).

So what did I do? I got bored, because people just were not very active, and I started hacking. Using Full Godmode, Accuracy Hack, and Damage Hack. Killing Headless Horsemen and BigFoot just raking up the levels, got to lvl 92 in like several hours. No one even noticed, the next day (today) I log in and start doing the same thing again, except I am killing the Boss at Himes. Got banned. And didn't even feel bad about it........

A server wipe was 100% not necessary at all. That destroyed the community. I hope the developing team realizes what they have done. I personally think the only way they (Matt) can redeem themselves is upgrade to v83 and put the rates at 8/6/2. Like the good ol' days of OdinMS. Put in some custom monster maps (the FM maps are perfect for this) more events, Server Boss Events (where everyone on the server can fight a boss and the damage taken/given is all percentage based, so that you can have a lvl 1 n00b and a 173 Hermit fighting together in unity).

As someone who hasn't really come to terms with the server wipe, I just had to give your post a "like" for the quoted description!

 

The server made it's decision. Let it deal with the consequences. This will be a good lesson in Public Relations and Business Management for the owners and staff.

Just pop around and see what happens, I'm hoping they realise that they've made a string of bad decisions and damaged the basis of creating a private server (and that's community). Hopefully it moves to v83 with rates which the larger community can appreciate but you can't do much.

 

You know what's funny. I just read the whole thread about the suspicion of my pirate characters' leveling in the Report Abuse section. Pretty funny.

 

GMs of this server are so cool when they act cold like if they didn't care that people are leaving, ye brb giving short replies cause I give 0 fucks.

Dude, even under the best of circumstances, people will leave because there was a rate change. The server administrators decided to take a different route with the server than they had originally.

They knew some people would be pissed and leave. What they don't understand is why people who don't plan on staying to play are still here complaining about a decision that has already been made and isn't going to be changed.

If you don't want to stay, then don't stay. But please explain to me what you gain by hanging around talking about how pissed you are?

If you are leaving...leave.

I'm not complaining about the server, I play it every now and then and it's a OK.

What I'm complaining about is the attitude of the GM's, whenever somebody states that they are leaving, you all get mad and act cold. At least say Thank you for playing, not like Matt with his walter white post writing "Cool story bro" U wot m8?

Second, is it really that hard to understand that people spent a lot of time and effort and that they are still hurt by the wipe? It's not like you push a button and it's all good. Have some compassion ffs.

People are still part of this community and should be able to express what they feel without being told to just stfu and leave.

People who have no intention of continuing to play here because they are mad that the server changed are not still part of the community. They are now in opposition to the community. So in continuing to hang around and complain in the forums and in game as loudly as possible is just their little way of attempting to get back at the administrators for changing the server in a way they are unhappy with. It's their attempt to hurt the community as much as they can before they get bored of it and finally leave. That's not being a member of the community...that's being an enemy of the community.

And as far as compassion goes, I have and have always had compassion for the people who are upset because changes were made that nullified their efforts and achievements. I fought against a wipe for a long time, but the administrators made their final decision based on what they feel is best for the server in the long run. As a member of this community, I then decided it was time to look at the positives in an initially negative situation.

There was NO way to make everyone happy.

And for the record, not once have I personally said "stfu and leave" or anything even remotely close to that. My responses thus far have been, I'm sorry you are unhappy with the changes that the admins decided to make to the server, but the decision has been made and it's not going to be changed. If you are that unhappy, by all means, please find another community that fits with your personal gaming and social needs...but don't hang around here like an ugly dark cloud trying to poison the people who chose to stay and new people who are coming in just because you are mad.

In this case it would be "thank you for ruining the server by hacking and then trying to justify it because you didn't get to personally choose the rates/version of the server."

Even if people felt that a 10x exp rate took effort, they should be aware of the risks of playing on an illegal private server and not prioritize their play time.

Regardless of what some people think, the decisions that have been made have solely been in the interest of the community. For most of these decisions, you can find the exact reasons why each specific change has been made somewhere on these forums. I really don't understand why people keep accusing Matt and the GMs of not caring when all we do is think about you! D:

Of course, some decisions might not seem like it at face value, but I promise you they are in the server's best interest. If you'd like to pm me to get the exact details on a specific decision, go ahead. Buuuut I'm too lazy to type them all out in this reply.

Also, I'm pretty sure some of the cold responses here stemmed from having a hacker tell us how our server should be run. We're more than willing to listen to player feedback and ideas, but (to be honest) our interest level plummets when it's coming from someone who doesn't have enough respect for the server in the first place to follow the rules.

Aaaaand (before you freak out) we're not talking about rules on language usage here, we're talking about someone who would rather abuse their way to the top (and in the process upsetting the hardworking players on this server) than give a chance to the gameplay they're now trying to convince us to change.

That being said, no ill-wishes. Sorry it didn't work out between us! Have fun doing whatever else you plan to do in the future!

I'm not quitting, but after reading through this thread, the urge to log on dwindled.

 

I do feel its an issue with some GMs on private server (not just maple but every other game as well, personly out of ps i tried the ones where I care enough to check forum lot of time the gm/owner are like this so I guess I have a bad impression lol) try to act cool like offical servers where they don't care if people leave or not, seriously they don't coz they got thousands to millions of player honestly 1 or even 100 people don't mean much to them. Idk it feel really immature, yes some time the threads are stupid like this one but some time they are real issue the server has.

Like Faye's respond was great "Sorry it didn't work out between us! Have fun doing whatever else you plan to do in the future!" You don't even have to mean it but as GM you have to show your above petty things.

 

Then maybe not saying anything would be best.

 

i really don't see the problem with a cold response to a thread like this. the guy admits to hacking, says he doesn't feel sorry about breaking the server rules. and yet people are getting mad at the gm's for being cold? they were a hell of a lot more polite than i would of been if i was a gm. far as i'm concerned hackers should be banned from the game and forums on sight. don't need their worthless opinions.
