Just some foods and drinks item, imagine how many are they including potions and other consumables in the game so far
Gonna talk a bit about spinoffs and mobile version of Maplestory that used to exist back then, and I apologize if my information isn't really that accurate and all as documentation and footage of these obscure Maplestory games are quite hard to find online and I only played like 4 of them so far, which is Maplestory : Thief Edition, Maplestory Adventures, Maplestory Live Deluxe and Maplestory M (known as Pocket Maplestory previously) Maplestory : Warrior is a RPG for mobile devices that was developed by GAMEVIL USA and was published through AT&T MEdia Mall website as a direct download service in 2009 for the price of 6.99$. It's basically a condensed version of Maplestory made for mobile devices where you only get to play as a Warrior only, and even though it's not an online game, it does connect to your Maplestory account to give you a brand new in-game item, which I can't find anything about it as there's no discussion about it at all on the Internet, unfortunately. This could be the ONLY gameplay image of Maplestory : Warrior that exists on the Internet today, taken from Yahoo! Finance article dated back to 15th of July 2009. --------- Maplestory DS is a RPG for the Nintendo DS, first announced on the E3 at 2006, developed by Nexon and published by Nexon and Nintendo of Korea on 15th April 2010 for Korean release and 17th November 2011 for Japanese release. This version of Maplestory features four original jobs, Warrior, Mage, Archer and Thief with each character has their own storylines. Like Maplestory : Warrior, it's not an online game but players can receive exclusive codes for in-game item to claim. Luckily, there's plenty of footage for this game and there's even an English fan-translation project for this game as it was never released globally, so I'd say if you have the time, do give it a shot! And a bit of fun fact, the characters in this game are the same character that was featured in the Maplestory official comic and promotional artworks for Maplestory! --------- Maplestory : Thief Edition is the very first Maplestory game for both iOS and Android, released on 16th August 2010, developed and published by Nexon. Like the previous two Maplestory game mentioned before, this is still an offline single player RPG Maplestory, with Thief (both Shadower and Night Lord) as the only playable job in this game, hence the name. This game also featured an unique crafting system that returns to Maplestory Live and also features microtransaction where you can cheese the game by actually buying level up items and many more items for those who's too lazy to do a bit of grinding and whatnot. To be honest, this is one of the portable Maplestory that I have played personally and it's quite a faithful adaptation with a bit of minor changes here and there, and the game features three playable area, the Victoria Island (which consists of Henesys, Kerning City, Perion and Sleepywood's Ant Tunnel), Ossyria (which consists of Orbis and El Nath) and Magatia, which each area has their own main quests, side quests and bosses of their own. --------- Maplestory : Cygnus Knights Edition is the second Maplestory game for both iOS and Android, released on 30th June 2011. This Maplestory plays pretty much the same as Thief edition, with the differences being the playable class this time is just Blaze Wizard and Dawn Warrior, despite Cygnus Knights have more than two classes only in Maplestory, as well as new stories and locations like Ereve, Ellinia, Florina Beach, Korean Folk Town (just to name a few) and new bosses such as Zakum, Pianus and Horntail to fight against! --------- Maplestory Adventures was a free-to-play MMORPG that was developed by Nexon and launched on 27th July 2011 for Facebook. It was a simplified version of Maplestory's basic gameplay with character customization included this time and includes bunch of freemium content that can be purchased. During launch, players can only select either Warrior or Magician as playable class, and as of 28th March 2012, introduces the player with two more classes, Archer and Thief. This game also features the energy bar mechanic, which is a common thing for most Facebook games of the time, where actions such as attacking or hitting a monster will consume a certain amount of energy that replenishes in real time and as you level up, the energy limit will grow too. MapleStory Adventures features a simplified version of Maple World, with areas such as include Henesys, Ellinia, Perion, Kerning City, Florina Beach And Mushroom Kingdom (known as Skyscraper in this game). The game also has a Mystery Box system that provides a random gift for players that includes a quantity of gold, consumables, or cosmetic clothing. Despite what you may think of this game, it is actually quite popular during the 11-day closed beta, where it quickly capping it's 30,000 player cap and was the fastest growing social game by surpassing 3,000,000 monthly active users just seven weeks into its open beta. Despite the popularity, the game unfortunately shut down on 31st July 2013 and removed from Facebook for good. --------- Maplestory Live was the third iOS and Android game, released on 2012 that originally featured only two playable classes, Dual Blade and Mechanic but future updates added two more class, featuring Demon Slayer and Angelic Buster this time. The game also features a premium currency that can be purchased with real life money, known as Candies that are required to obtain the other two classes and three expansion packs, meaning that this is the first Maplestory to features expansion packs too. Gameplay is still the same as previous installment, and the usual stuff such as brand new stories, locations such as Temple of Time, Neo City and Pantheon this time around with newer powerful bosses such as Pink Bean, Oberon and Arkarium. As with the previous mobile installment, Maplestory Live is now long abandoned and the server shut down a long time ago, meaning that you can no longer play this one, unlike Thief Edition and Cygnus Knight Edition which doesn't require constant Internet connection to play and now being replaced with Pocket Maplestory, which is also known as Maplestory M nowdays that is still growing, alive and healthy now.
This is a continuation of the previous post I made about spinoffs and mobile Maplestory, with some added information for the ones I already listed and bunch of new things that I actually forgot to include or just didn't know at all about it's existence, as always, enjoy~ - Maplestory : Warrior - I mentioned that the game was released in 2009, but that information is kind of incorrect, as that year is the release of the English version of the game, and the original release year for the game is actually in 2004! There's also two more mobile Maplestory games that was released in 2004 and 2005, which is Maplestory : Wizard and Maplestory : Archer that has same basic gameplay, and each character has their own story, way before the actual Maplestory itself! Here's some more screenshots and video gameplay taken from a Korean wiki page : - Maplestory : Thief Edition - Nothing much to add for this one, but this game was actually released first "dumbphone" in 2008, ported to iOS version in 2010 and Android version in 2012. - Maplestory : Cygnus Edition - Like Maplestory : Thief Edition, this game was first released on "dumbphone" in 2010, and ported to smartphone in 2011. The game also features some partially networked elements that was absent from previous Maplestory games, such as the mailbox, ad boards and minigame battles. Locations featured in the games are Perion (for Dawn Warrior), Ellinia (for Blaze Wizard), Florina Island, Ariant, Aquarium, Korean Folk Town, Ereve, Thailand, Japan, Herb Town, El Nath and Leafre. Here are some screenshots for the "dumbphone" version of the game that also depict some network elements and the world map of the game. - Maplestory Live - Apparently, there exists a version for "dumbphone" that was released in 2011, but nothing much was known about it other than apparently it has Infinite Dungeon instead of Monster Farm and Pygmy pigs (gachapon, I guess?). The game also has two version, which is paid and free, where the paid version comes with Mechanic unlocked, no pop-up ads (yikes) and availability of storage keeping. --------- Now, for some other Maplestory games that I forgotten to include and the one's that I actually discovered today, starting with... - Maplestory Battleground - This is quite a weird one, and no, it's not a battle royale game but it's a 2D... fighting game that was released in 2005 and developed by Entelligent? This looks pretty interesting, to be honest... - Maplestory 2007 : Tag Fichters - I have no idea what "fichters" is, but I assume it's a mispelling for "fighters"? You can look at it yourself here : Anyway, as the name of the title says, the game was released in May 2007 and... honestly I have no idea what this game is about, other than that this was the first game in the mobile series to feature the Pygmy Pigs where you can obtain various items from it, three playable class which is Warrior, Magician, Archer, and the final boss of the game is Ergoth. And that the Archer in this game has a jumping shot ability like Mercedes and Wild Hunter have, yeah... - Maplestory : Pirates - This game was released in 2009, after Thief Edition was released. There's brand new content added this time around, but the basic gameplay remains the same. The game lets you play as the Pirate Job Instructor, Kyrin in search of traces of her father and the fight against Black Mage and all that stuff. Like Thief Edition, you can chose to be a Buccaneer or a Gunslinger. This game is also the very first mobile Maplestory to include touch support and the only game that has not received a smartphone port. - Maplestory Village - I'm not quite sure what kind of game it is, but judging from the looks of it, it might be the early prototype for what will become the Monster Life in the current Maplestory. This game was available on both iOS and Android before shutting down on 2014. I know this is not a gameplay of Maplestory Village, but you should have the idea of what this game might be since it was the early prototype of Monster Life... - Maplestory Blitz - Instead of the usual Maplestory gameplay stuff, this one is a competitive card game where two players battle with each other across three-lanes with Maplestory monsters and character cards that was released in 2018, ended its service in 2019 with an announcement of a reboot called Maplestory Odyssey and was scheduled to be released by the end of 2019 and... it never happened. Graphic wise, it kinda reminds me of Maplestory 2 a bit... - Maplestory Cave Crawler - Released in 2011 for the iOS, this is a different take on Maplestory and I honestly don't really know how to describe this well, but I'll let the video gameplays and screenshot explain what the game is about... It kinda looks interesting to me and I do love the arts for this game. Anyway, I guess that's it for this section, and I know that I did not include Pocket Maplestory or Maplestory M here, but yeah, it's kinda interesting seeing that many different version of Maplestory and what not.
FM and all villages Storage Keeper, The cost of Storing and Recovery is different. ∴Save mesos with the Village's Storage Keeper.
I found this on reddit and has been itching to share it here! thanks to u/lllya! CodaSound uploaded a high quality audio of "The Third Flight" on youtube a few months ago! But it has a different name... "From the Beginning" curious! For those who are not aware of this song, it was used as the teaser when 3rd job advancement was released in GMS! There's also many Korean players that said it was used as the screen bgm during the beta stages of the game!
Recently, JMS just announced that they gonna bring back a revamped version of Neo Tokyo that will fit with the gameplay of the newer version, and here are some of the comparison between new and old, and maybe some new stuffs too! First, we gonna start with the new Forest of Oblivion! This area has been updated way before Neo Tokyo revamp was revealed, but we gonna put it in anyway- There's not much of a different compared to old Forest of Oblivion, aside from the obvious graphical updates and what not. --------- Kamuna also received little to no changes, aside from new graphics and made to fit widescreen resolution. Also, Asia received quite the redesign, but that was way before Neo Tokyo was revealed... ...and here's the old Kamuna for comparison! Personally, the old Asia looks better than the new design, but that's just me- --------- Next destination, Odaiba! Generally, nothing much to write about other than the new facelift it received, still has the same mob roaming around, and less verticality this time (it's literally one flat ground)... ...and here's the old Odaiba for comparison. The ship where you fight Vergamot also received a redesign, this time you can see the whole ship, though you can no longer jump down to the sea. Vergamot also received bunch of new animation, rising down from the sea to reveal itself is such a cool way to introduce a boss fight, if I have to say so. Here's the old ship for comparison. This one is a minor nitpick, but they did Rainbow Bridge dirty in the revamp, the old Rainbow Bridge looks way better than the new one, here's the new Odaiba background... ...and here's the old Odaiba background for comparison- --------- I'm skipping Park for this one, since it received no changes whatsoever, so we gonna head straight to Akihabara! You'll be seeing a familiar trend on this revamp, where the map is just one flat ground and new graphics, but anyway, here's the new Akihabara Street... ...and the old Akihabara for comparison. Most of the building in the new one are the same as the old one, with some changes like the AMAZING ANILAND building gone from the sight and the OPEN building features the Sengoku class instead of the Explorer Pirate class. Here's background comparison of new Akihabara... ...and the old Akihabara, where they actually used a lot of Singapore backgrounds for this one. One quirk with this map is that the front buildings and the Old Fox ship is actually not on the background layer, but the object layer, that's why they show up in the minimap. Here's the new Akihabara hideout... ...and the old Akihabara hideout, not much of a difference, really. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the Dunas map in Akihabara, I suspect that they might've removed Dunas v1 and just skip to Dunas v2 entirely. --------- We are going up to the sky this time, the Old Fox Flagship! Or rather, just the area where you go and fight Nibergen because the ship still look the same and still features the same mobs around. Anyway, here's the new Tokyo Sky map... ...and the old one for comparison. I know you can't see it with this static images, but the old one has a moving clouds while the new one doesn't, what a downgrade. --------- What goes up, must come down, and down to Shibuya we go! Again, the trends with the revamp, so I'm not gonna repeat myself on that. Here's the new Shibuya... ...and the old Shibuya, where they used Singapore's graphics once again for some of the props. --------- After the long walks and distance traveled, we're finally at Roppongi Mall entrance! The new Roppongi Mall looks like someone just switched RTX on, and that the chandelier was replaced with absolute trash of modern art light... ...and here's the old one for comparison, again, generally looks the same but with new facelift. Couldn't get the chandelier to show up, but you know how it looks like by now. The JQ area didn't really receive much changes other than layout simplification, so I'm gonna skip that one but show you the Reactor Core map... ...and the old one for comparison. And finally, our final stop of the day, the Roppongi Mall rooftop! The revamp one feels very huge since Auf Haven received a major redesign and changes (from what was revealed, the boss will have 5 phases and the last phases will be just as powerful as Black Mage or Chosen Seren, though you'll receive rewards still even if you can't defeat it), so here you go... ...and the old one for comparison. There's also plenty of variant for Roppongi Mall rooftop for each phases, such as this one... ...and this one... ...and another one... ...and the last phase, I assume? There's also transition map specifically just for Auf Haven, such as this one (I'm not joking, this is a whole ass map, not just an image overlayed on top before a fight)... ...and another one, probably for the first phase... ...for the second phase... ...third phase, maybe? With what I can assume is Ashura (or Ashray, but why though?)... --------- And here's some extra stuff that I don't know where to put them, so I'm lumping them in this one category. I assume this is for one of the ending cutscene, depicting Commander Garuda, Ponicher, Noran, Dida and Captain Maricias on the Old Fox ship... ...Kamuna after you defeated Nameless Magic Monster (which is not the same as the other Kamuna map, by the way)... ...a map with just a picture of Dunas, Asia, inconsiderate Ashura and another Ashura... ...whatever is this? Which I can assure you they don't actually show up like this in game, so it has something to do with what I use to dig this stuff up. For whatever reason, Nibergen got treated dirty as hell and apparently it can move, though I really don't know if they were supposed to be like this or not. Only Auf Haven received a drastic change in this revamp, even Dunas that has a redesigned talking NPC head didn't get any. There's also a special boss quest where you can get Dunas hat (NX item) as reward for completing it
Forgot to include soundtracks on previous post, there's bunch of new one that you can preview here :
Let's talk a bit about Maplestory deleted content a bit, shall we? Most of the deleted content listed here will be from various Maplestory region and the reason why some content got deleted is usually lack of engagement, severely outdated or just to be more inline with KMS. ------ Maple 7th Day Market Maple 7th Day Market only opens on Sunday every week, as the name suggests. It's basically a stock market, where you can buy items from various merchant for a low price and sell them to Abdula for a high price for profit. It was available in GMS, TMS, CMS and MSEA, but removed shortly after Big Bang patch. Here's some of the 7th Day Market maps with the merchants! 7th Day Market with Henesys backdrop 7th Day Market with Ariant backdrop 7th Day Market with Floating Market backdrop and 7th Day Market with Orbis backdrop! ------ Tower of Trials Tower of Trial was an area dedicated to the alternate version of Honor/Inner Ability system that is tied to JMS version of Silent Crusade (or Cross Brigade) where players would be able to fight various bosses in a Boss Rush style and receive Honor EXP for each floor cleared per day. Tower of Trials also was available in TMS, but was removed entirely from the game in favor of KMS version of Silent Crusade and JMS only kept four maps and bosses for the questline. Here's some of the map for Towers of Trials! They're mostly just palette swap of existing boss maps, by the way~ Mystic Zakum Tower Mystic Lilinouch Tower Mystic Mori Ranmaru Tower Mystic Von Leon Throne Mystic Princess Nou Altar There's some other Mystic Tower maps too, but most of them are just duplicate of existing maps with little to no changes mostly. Also, there's also a Mystic variant of the bosses for this content but most of them are just duplicates of existing bosses except for Lilinouch, which had a purple palette swap for it. ------ Kerning Square This one's gonna be a bit of a doozy entry, because there's like 4 version of Kerning Square in Maplestory, with the first one being the original KMS version of Kerning Square (which everyone knows is a rehash of Taipei 101), which eventually got revamped to a totally brand new Kerning Square for players level 145+, and then there's two regional version of Kerning Square for JMS and TMS/CMS. The TMS/CMS Kerning Square was an alternate version of the original Kerning Square for players level 130+, and this alternate version was created because of the Kerning Square story revamp on 2013, where this alternate version has the original storyline of Kerning Square for preservation. This version also contains mostly palette swaps of original Kerning Square monsters. Soda, Peach (doesn't look like it) and Grape Bubble Tea Purple Pepe and Gray Yeti Navy (no it's not), Turquoise and Emerald Perfume Purple Female, Blue Kid and Silver Male Mannequin Red Cheap and Blue Fancy Amplifier Spirit of Metal Another minor differences of this area is that TMS has a different designed for NPCs too, but CMS uses the same old sprites. (original on the left, new on the right) Lala Maestro Rho Lana Tina Robby Fray Blake Then there's the JMS version of Kerning Square, which has an entirely different storyline where instead of helping Blake with his dream on becoming a music star, you aided a couple, Fiancée and Darling (I kid you not, this is their name) with some rumors of a man in black causing monsters suddenly become hostile towards couples. At the lobby, Fiancée asks you to rescue her Darling, who was captured by a gang of bubble teas lead by the Brother Bubble Tea and eventually defeat the source of the problem, caused by the Jealousy Rocker, a spirit that was formed by jealousy of soloist. Afterward, the couple invited you to their wedding and the story concludes. There's no palette swaps or new monsters on this version, but it has 3 new NPCs instead! Fiancée Darling and Darling (caged) Brother Bubble Tea ------ Maple Inn Maple Inn was a special area that was created by CMS in 2009, eventually added to TMS on the same year, where the players are encouraged to log off from the game after talking to the Inn Owner and get random buffs or rewards by talking to Dream Interpreter when you relog to the game after 4 to 24 hours. Players also can learn the Maker skill here, where other Maplestory region had to learn it in Magatia. There's six portal that leads to Maple Inn that can be accessed in most major city in the game, and here's how they look like! Henesys portal Kerning City Portal Orbis portal Ludibrium portal Mu Lung portal Leafre portal The interior of the Inn The Innkeeper and Dream Interpreter NPC and fun fact, Dream Interpreter sprite was later reused for a chair with the same name! ------ Tokyo Urban Warfare Tokyo Urban Warfare was a Party Quest/Dungeon centered around the present Tokyo, accessible via Zipangu Government Office where the goal is to attack the opposing army in Tokyo and pursue the airship Eraser Kill through multiple maps. This area was available on JMS and TMS but was later removed from the game. One of the many Tokyo map for this area ditto Eraser Bot A and B Pachinko Red, Blue and Purple Eraser Kill ------ Kerning City Internet Cafe JMS maps Nothing much can be said for this entry, other than JMS version of Internet Cafe dungeons have three exclusive map based on Mushroom Shrine, Florina Island and Ariant. They uses the same map layouts of existing maps, with the exception being Florina Island uses Spirit Viking as monsters instead. ------ Alishan Alishan was an area created by TMS, based on a real life location in Taiwan with the same name, and consisted of a storyline where the player must ride a train to liberate the forest guardian Shao from the control of Dark Master. The area also contains coin shop with daily quests where the players can buy a chair that resembles one of the trains of the area. It was available in TMS, CMS, MSEA and GMS before being removed from all versions entirely. One of the many Alishan plains that is populated by level scaled hedgehogs Alishan Train Station one of many breathtaking forest of Alishan the summit of Alishan the many animals of Alishan Bomber and it's Big variant Flame Wand and Blast Band Tree Fairy Corrupted Shao Cleansed Shao Dark Master ------ Gonna cover some more stuff soon I suppose, like Veracent and some other areas and stuff too!
This entry should belong to the Masteria thread that I made since it's mostly have relation to Masteria content overall, but I suppose it belongs here now- Anyway, here are some concept arts made by the GMS team that was released on Maplestory official Twitter account around last year! Bosshunter Armor set for Bowman and Warrior concept art Bosshunter Gi set for Magician and Thief concept art Concept art for the Porcupine pet, obviously based on Mu Lung porcupine Spoiler This is how they look like in game now: Early concept art for Spindle, the iTGC guy on Omega Sector Spoiler And here's the final design for Spindle, very massive differences-
GMS recently added a housing system this year that originated from CMS/TMS last year, where players are able to customize their home and whatnot- This entry is just gonna be me showcasing the houses and what not, starting with a humble starter mushroom house~ Small, but comfy enough for a house~ Feeling cramped? You can upgrade your cozy mushroom house to something bigger! ...or go even bigger! Big enough to fit the entirety of your guild, perhaps? Not a fan of mushroom? Maybe something a bit more seaside perhaps? Perhaps you can start a tourism business with house this big? Maybe you're the type that likes to isolate yourself and find your inner peace? The bigger the house, the wiser the master... I guess? Maybe you prefer something a bit conventional, like a classic colonial style house? A whole mansion just for you and you only! Feeling spooky? Here's the house just for you! Tis' the season! Even if it's not the season just yet! ------ And here's some of the various other map for this content! Kenneth's house, well decorated and comfortable house~ Amy's cafe and bakery, all your caffeine and breads are here~ Just a little forest outside the town square area~ Seasonal variant of Kenneth's house, spooky decorations and what not! Ditto, but with oriental theme this time And for Christmas, with just a small Christmas tree with presents~ The central area of the Town Square, with plenty of building styles and all~ Ditto, but the fountain area of it~ Grandma Dona's small and comfy home! ------ Here's a video of how the housing system works!
reminds me of nexon maplestory 2 global server How I miss my little house and when you start your adventures in Maplestory 2 it was very expensive to buy the land (depending on the place it would cost up to 20 million mesos) sad memories
Time for some random stuffs once again! Did you know there exists a Windows Live Messenger map in Maplestory? As far as I recall, this is MSEA's exclusive map because Asiasoft once partnered with Windows Live Messenger for events and what not. ------ Here's some interesting arts of Maplestory that was featured in a Spot the Differences event in game! Christmas art Halloween art Monster Carnival art Cassandra art Chill from Adventuring art Korean Folk Town art Another Christmas art Nautilus art Another Nautilus art Leafre art Haunted House art Floating Market art Ariant art Kerning PQ Fairy art
