If the hacker has information about someone and any items they got, and he already gained access to one of the accounts, it is indeed very valuable to know other accounts as well imo.
By the way, all information that players use on accounts are usually interconnected in some way and can be cracked easier when accumulated together and scanned with specified algorythms.
I - for instance use really complicated "randomized" passwords - but that is not very common, most people use memorizable passwords and account names, and they very often are related to personal information and more things such as IGNs.
To me it looks very likely that this will help a dedicated hacker. It might be the case that all people worth hacking are super pro NSA coworkers and therefore this is not relevant, but it looks like a serious security leak to me.

I have a potential solution. Lock ALL player accounts and ask players to verify their identity by submitting a photo of their passport/identity card along with selfie. Only verified accounts can play royals. If someone gets banned ban them as an individual, so they can never make account again unless they change they're a diplomat or secret intelligence agent and can change their identity. Gets rid of RWT and hackers.

Yikes, if people are that ignorant with account security, I guess we won't be able to take any step away from the primitive system we currently dwell on. R.I.P

Are we also supposed to believe that a player would be that lax with regards to all the "traditional" security mechanisms, but extremely diligent about keeping some of their IGNs secret for "security"?

I really like the intent behind this new rule, as it shows staff wants to take more action to stop RWT.
The main problems I see are how you plan to enforce it - this is going to end up being 100% staff discretion.

For example, if a player just asks the RWT character and goes through the checklist, and the RWT player provides the info (that is false), and the legitimate player just decides to go ahead with the trade, its a gray area on whether or not sufficient due diligence was done.

Lets say HITTA (RWT) responded with a fake main, fake details on how the items / meso were obtained. The legitimate player could suspect the RWT player, but choose to simply do the "bare minimum" which was to have the conversation about the origin and go ahead with the trade.

Essentially, it is going to be hard to draw a line on whether or not the "legitimate player" truly did enough diligence (i.e. go as far as to verify the claims by the RWT player), or if they were simply convinced by the fraudulent testimony. The "legitimate player" will always testify they were tricked, even if they had suspicions in the back of their mind, and claim that they went through the due diligence process.

If staff is willing to accept that there will be additional inconsistency and unequal treatment to ban appealers in exchange for this rule, then I guess go ahead. I do however suggest that staff keep a close eye on any RWT metrics so that they can measure if this rule is even having an impact in reducing RWT.

The main benefits of this new change that I see are that staff will have testimony from players regarding how items are obtained to search on in the chat logs - which would let them ban more easily if they are fraudulent. Players will be cautious about dealing with others that might be RWT, because they will fear a ban and losing their items, and it will become harder for RWT players to do business.

Is there a specific guideline for account history that looks "legitimate?" Or is it entirely subjective and poorly enforced? I think an rwter can easily donate and farm likes in the meme thread lol
It just seems like any buyer/seller can answer these questions effectively and still end up being punished weeks later

I've overpayed ~1-2b for gears that I've been impatiently waiting for to hit the market and for finished godly gears, a couple b coins is pocket change--that's what makes merching so effective at the high end. If that's what the target of this new rule is, please increase the 1b threshold.

This new T&C addition is due to a existing gray area where players abuses and makes billions of mesos, openly looking for distributors to sell them cheap gears for either upgrade or merch.

    Players makes a forum thread
B> X and Y gears, distributors simply contacts them, and have the gears sold at cs/ws. The distributor sells the cs/ws for dollars to RWTers , and these RWTers release this scrolls back into the game.
This ecosystem continues to repeat itself indefinitely.

    -

I think the terms used might not be very correct, firstly theres your seller (distributors) and buyer (RWTer).

Now for me to buy, for example a 19/91 from RWTer who seems pretty legit. They probably wouldn’t sell me at 18bil when market price is at 25bil. I don't see how this is against the T&C.

The problem arises where the distributor as mentioned above tries to release these gears. These players usually contact you with a lvl50 minus character, add you into discord, and continues to give you extremely good deals.

Oh, all i need to do now is buy his 19/91 rc at 18bil.
Resell in the forums for 25bil, and repeat!

Heck these deals gets better and better, from 19/91 rc to 19/95 DPS and eventually 24 wa capes, sky is the limit.

Now, whats happening? This player is abusing the distributor, honestly, not very different from leeching exp from a vac hacker.

Unpopular opinion, but I actually like this rule change, I’d raise the threshold from 1bil to 20bil, since the problem doesn’t lies with the cheap gears such as auf scrolls, ws and cs, those are quick dollars to them. but perfect weapons & attack gears.

Adding a more powerful tracking log on the WS/CS is another solution.

Legit player won't need to "testify" as staff have chat logs with all the info anyway. In a situation like that, it has also been made clear both here and in shoutbox that the player would not get in trouble as they did due diligence. Other than a bit of common sense, it seems there is no need to spend time verifying the information given

    I got one question, though:
Are we gonna get paid for doing your job?

It actually does occasionally happen with clean fs/scg/bwg. Still, should probably be increased to at least max meso, and the definition of "due diligence" properly clarified so we don't get inconsistent enforcement or people disagreeing with GMs on if something was suspicious enough to not trade.

I don't think your statement makes any sense. The rule change is unpopular because the threshold is 1 bil. Nobody would care if it were 20 bil, so I'm not sure what you're saying is unpopular here.

Good job Tim, Keep on the good work.

Haters will always gonna hate everything. Do what you can for the best of the server.

Nothing is perfect in life, we cannot always have to side anyone but only the right thing.

Also please stop any GM Abusing power. Please don't have any repeat past GM's abusing power. Thank you <3

The gray area I mentioned in my post is when the legit player does bare minimum due diligence, even though they know that they are probably dealing with a RWT player, just so that they are not liable for this new policy. Then the legit player proceeds to do business with the RWT player anyways just to make easy mesos.

If you can easily just exchange a chat conversation as a formality and then proceed with the transaction without any liability, is this rule going to make any difference in practice?

    No, you're right.
The staff monitoring this shit likely don't, but surely the ones implementing this rule oughta get some profit of it, no?
Either way they expecting players to do their work for them. Specifically players who've been investing into this game for a longer time have to do more and more work the more they grow.

Yet they seem to be banning for RMT suspicions left and right and proceed to handle the appeals like:

So glad I'm no longer playing this game lmfao.

Voting >2 weeks gets you a net worth >1b. What's the point of background checking everyone who's played for longer than 2 weeks?
How is this new 'rule' going to produce meaningful outcomes?
In what universe is RWT going to vanish or even reduce off this rule?
Have we considered how many loopholes this rule already has or is anticipated to have?
Do any admin staff actually hold any respect for the community who the game continues to punish?
Was there any pre-implementation consultation with the community?
Will there be post-implementation auditing around the effects of this so called rule?
Do admin still consider Royals to be a game?

Ah yes - I agree that is a concern. Maybe don't call them "legit" player though ;)

I guess it is all largely going to depend on whether or not RWTers make a big effort to appear legit, or whether they just try and trade with people who disregard this new rule. Also, perhaps the "Can they contact you from those accounts?" part of the 'questionnaire' was designed to help guard against that though. An RWTer is just not likely to have a reasonable main they are willing and able to make contact through.
