    Something that has probably been asked quite a few times, but i guess the 234802938402394 time wouldn't hurt. Similar to the toggle smega feature, I think a toggle swear filter should be implemented and she be set to on by default unless you manually toggle it off. I personally think that this will stop a great deal of harassment and vulgar language reports. Especially the ones that are poorly reported.

    What I commonly see is a person see a certain word and take offense to that word even though it's meaning can be contextualized in many different ways. Often times that person reports it and waste everyone's time or creates drama by cutting out parts of instances of conversation to make it look like the player in question is going above and beyond to supposedly harass or insult you

    I also feel that if this feature, if ever implemented and someone were to report something regarding that, that it would have to be inexplicably offensive on a majority of fronts and that by having this feature toggled off, you agree to also more often than not, to hear and accept these type of comments in all its vulgarity.

    So like if some guy is walking around and hears the word "F**" with the filter off, a report on that should instantly be ignored without question. If you're offended by certain words, by having this feature on, you wont have to hear them, and you can continue to play maple the way you would like.

    ~~~~~~~ Everything below this line is off topic ~~~~~~~~
    In fact, I think there should actually be reversed punishments. If you report something with the intent to try to have someone banned and you're discovered to just be not only completely wrong but trying to ban a innocent person by a variety of means such as provocation should receive a ban for an amount of time that the accused would've received.
    People actually try to get other people banned having not done anything to begin with. Take Egonics for example. Can't argue to save his life, insults me, I insult him back, he tries to get me banned. Stuff like that happens to often with many players, so players like Egonics who report fallacies should receive the punishment I would've received If I was found guilty. You can't just go around accusing people recklessly in the real world. Should be the same here. There needs to be severe punishments for this type of behavior.
    Sounds like a good idea. The only bad thing is that there'll be less funny abuse reports to read.
    Might be hard to implement tough.
    Correct me if I'm wrong (you will correct me I know.) but
    After reading this 3-4 times your proposal still sounds like this to me:
    The majority of the players should turn on "profanity filters" so that the few players who struggle to find words to use that are not "f*ggot" and "n*gger" feel less oppressed. (because they will no longer be punished for it)
    I'm sorry, I can not think of any context where using the word "f*ggot" is appropriate.
    The problem with swear filters is it blocks words no matter the context.
    If a word is blocked, how are we to know that they weren't using it to be harassing/derogatory on purpose?
    Also, we have a zero tolerance policy for those words anyway. Anyone who doesnt know this needs to re-read the rules.
    Plus imagine the amount of legit words that get caught under a swear filter.
    Such as the commonly used "Whisper me". I remember that one back from my GMS days xD
    That's the point of the filter though. If it's off then you could just use the word freely. What I'm proposing is that people who turn it off and then make a report about said word should just be ignored immediately unless so offensive that it's obvious to everyone that the person should get banned. Like if I said "You C*** sucking N*****" That should be ban worthy. But if I said "Sup N*gs", it's obvious that it's not offensive. The problem with the average person is the average person think "Sup N*gs" is inappropriate.
    By having a rule set visible in game or on the forums, the player agrees by having the filter off, that harassment or vulgar post is waived unless its indisputably offensive and can't be used friendly by any group of players such as my first example.
    The word "F*ggot" and the way it's used today by almost everyones standards is not a term commonly used for homosexuals, but to describe a specific type of stupidity or goon like behavior. Like if one of my friends does something in spite of something that I or someone else did, he's a "F*ggot".
    Take a few seconds to Urban Dictionary the word
    Matt has already stated that he has a zero tolerance policy on the usage of the word in his server. It wont ever be allowed, not even in casual use.
    I just don't understand why people don't use different words. Take the N word for example, most people use it in place of words like "dude" and "man". Instead of using the N word, which everyone knows is bannable, why not just replace it with a more acceptable word? You can say "whatsup dude" instead of "whatsup n****" and they would mean the same exact thing except you wouldn't be risking offending anyone or getting banned.
    As for f*ggot, i'm sorry but that word is extremely offensive to a lot of people. Once again, if you commonly use it in place of another word then just use the other word.
    One last point, to build on what Sila pointed out, this is Matt's game. If we choose to play on Matt's server we have to play by Matt's rules. Matt has every right to shut the server down at any point (this is purely hypothetical) and he would have every right to do so.
    I've played with people who use much worse language casually
    The filters aren't really needed, we just need to remind people not to use such words (I even made a guide on how to get good @ Royals and one of the first bullets is "Don't use words like F*ggot or [the N word]")
    I would still ban people for using the words even if we had a profanity filter, so I'm not sure how this would help.
    At its most minimal level, it will cut out a lot of reports. Also the word was an example. Not something I particularly use.
    The swear filter in EMS turns even harmless sentences into an array of asterisks. Please no, not here. I don't want to have to figure what part of my sentence is a swear word in Bulgarian & 'fix' it. People should be mature enough to be able to converse without cursing anyway, & those who can't get banana'd. The English language is very deep, have some originality! Find ways to curse people without them realising they're being cursed upon! How's that for a challenge?
    We did have the word "cuck", but someone had to go and get TRIGGERED by it and report someone who was using it in a harmless context
    No matter what, we're gonna have softies who come in and get offended by everything
    We should make up new lingo, though
    Don't need it. The game has an age requirement for a reason.
    Im not entirely sure why people cannot avoid these words. I used to use them irl just between friends, just because that's what we did, and the majority of people around my school did as well. I have been on this server for about 11 months now and have yet to get banned, yet I know people who have been banned multiple times for using profane language. I'm sorry but I just feel as though if you get banned for using these words you need to mature a little or expand your vocabulary, which shouldn't be hard due to the fact that just about the simplest words can replace them. Pronouns arn't that hard to come by imo. As for swear words that arnt directly offensive...
    and if these words offend you... I suggest you dont go into a PG movie because you may end up with a sore rear end before its over... Just fair warning
    we should have like a n-word white (black?) list where you can send in a pic of yourself and if you're actually black you're allowed to say it.
    im kidding
    Yo. Is "n'gga" bannable or autobannable? I'm referring to Party/BL/Guild chats, not smegas.
    It's part of my everyday vocabulary and I might type it out of habit.
    You can use it with your friends in bl/guild chat but be careful who you use it in front of.
    You should just learn to use a different word though, just in case.
    If you use it in super megaphone, whispers and all chat you will be banned.
    I didn't know profanity in whispers was a problem. I curse a lot in mine.
