Hey all. I played way back in beta MapleStory up through launch (I think my official account might still have the Mark of Beta if it still exists), up until shortly after Ludi/Aqua Road came out. I think Zakum was the only boss we had. Anyway, back then we only had 10%, 60%, 100%. My go-to strategy was to 10% until one worked, then 60% the rest. But in Royals, I see dark scrolls, white scrolls, chaos scrolls, 30%, 70%... If I am wanting really good equipment, not necessarily godly but just 'really good', what kind of scrolling pattern should I follow? What tricks do you all use to create some of these crazy high stat equips I see on the market? I have an 81 ice/lit mage and have managed to make some beginner scrolled stuff but it's nothing compared to what I can buy, because I'm sticking to my strategy of 10% -> 60% all the way. Or at the least, a +5/+6 60% item. But as a low LUK Mage, I really need a lot more INT than I'm getting from those scrolls. I capped my LUK at 40 for now and have a +16 INT red starlight for example that I scrolled myself, but it was all 60%s on a really high base INT, no advanced scrolling. I don't even know how you get 30%/70%/dark/white scrolls tbh. I know I need a Zak helmet but I solo and grind a lot so I've never done Zak and I'm nervous about being 'that guy' who pisses off people for not knowing the game. I also know this is going to cost a LOT of money. I'm only making like 9-11 mill each time I sell equips from GS2. But I have dozens and dozens of scrolls and some beginner-level scrolled mage stuff and DEX stuff for my warrior/archer. Thanks for your help. It's been like 16 years since I've gotten into this but I'm having a blast with Royals after 1 week.
The crazy high stat equips may be scrolled using White Scrolls . Using a white scroll in combination with another scroll causes it to not use up a slot if it fails. So people will white scroll with %10 scrolls which, as you can imagine, takes a long time and is very expensive. Generally the addition of dark scrolls probably won't change your strategy too much. If the base item is easy to get, you don't care if it gets boomed by the dark scroll so it's just better than 10s or 60s if you can afford them. If the base item is rare (like a perfect godly drop) or if you've already landed some lucky scrolls on it (like three 30s in a row or something) then you might opt for a non-dark scroll. Honestly though, for new players it's probably better to buy already-scrolled equipment, you can get pretty good stuff for reasonable prices because people who are trying to scroll epic gear will sell off all of their "failures" which are more than enough for new players. As for the Zakum helmet, you may not be aware that there are golden zakum helmets for sale during this anniversary event. You can get a basic one for 200-300 million mesos without having to do the jump quest or the boss, and you can buy the scrolls later after the event is over. It might seem like a lot of money but if you sell the event scrolls you get for beating cake boss, or the black NX weapons from the maple tree, you can probably save it up before the event is over.
Thank you so much! I have so many scrolls to sell as well, but with all the shops in the FM who knows how long it would take to sell any of them. I'll keep up the grind and try to buy a Zak helm as my next step!
Every household can vote once per day for 8,000 NX (which you can use to buy AP resets and sell for about 8m each). So if you're the only one playing in your household (no brothers, sisters also playing etc) you can also make some easy starting cash this way.
I use this strategy except with 30%s instead of 10%s. Get like 5-7 of the same equip with above average stats and hit them with 30s until you get some that are +2/+3. Then hit the rest of the slots with 60s. You could also use the 100% event scrolls instead of 60s.
Thanks folks! I'll take that advice blobbyshroom, that gives me a good idea of where to start. I'll check out guilds at some point. I'm kind of a loner and tend to play alone/solo and even on MMOs I get social anxiety because I just don't know nearly as much as others. So I feel like a detriment to a guild when I just want to come on and be quiet most of the time. But if there are any that are accepting of those kinds of people I'd be cool with it
