Hello, I was thinking about papulatus drops, and it dont really have a jackpot drop like zakum chaos scroll and ht mw20. Would it be an idea for papulatus with a small chance to drop a white scroll as jackpot? Let me know what you think! Thanks for reading.
The reason it doesn't have a "jackpot" is because it's a low level boss with about 5% of the HP that Zakum/Krexel has. The chance of getting a 5k card is a reasonable "jackpot" given the relatively easy difficulty and the fairly low HP. They removed CS from Lyka so I don't see them adding anything like a WS/CS to the drop table of Papulatus. Nor do I see any reason to.
Sure, Lyka being an area boss means there is more cause for drama which may have been partially (if not almost wholly?) responsible for the removal of CS from Lyka, but Papulatus being available daily twice for every character that's done the prequest is a staggering amount of instances of possible Papulatus runs, vs Lyka respawning every ~3 hours times amount of channels. So even if there would be zero cause for drama the amount of WS/CS introduced to the economy would be a lot higher than the amount of WS/CS introduced to the economy by WS/CS dropping from Lyka (or any other area boss).
//cracks open the chasm of my hatred of Lyka from 2019 Lyka during CS drop time was the most toxic content in the game til this date imo. People were blatantly ksing, multi channel holding, inflating RWT markets, and tons of name calling. Personally, I immediately thought lower of people ingame if I found out they were Lyka farmers. A specific bishop main would cc spam angel ray/gen the Lyka once for map owner then go back to the other Lykas they’re holding, killing it in like 20mins lmfao. Nightlords would hold as many chs as possible with their SE/HS mule etc on multiple channels. This was when multi channel holding was very grey area. And there was this Chinese housewife bowmaster player that had an iron grip on the timers for like a 12 hour zone since she was a stay at home wife. People flaming her and saying she has no life, etc. which was ironic, as at the time we’re probably all jobless students or bums while for the most part her life is pretty stable and figured out lol. And Sparky’s agenda was a huge reason it got removed. He was preaching the CS from Lykas were fueling RWT market for years. How much this was true can only be determined by staff. I don’t ever want to see a jackpot again in an area boss.
I personally think every instanced boss should have a jackpot. The 5k NX is sufficient for most kills, but IMO it really makes content more exciting if there's a chance at getting something really special, even if it's an extremely small chance. The smaller the chance the more exciting it is when you finally get it, though the chance can't be so small that you feel cheated. Something I think would be really cool and fitting for this boss is a chance (maybe like 2.5%) that Papulatus "escapes" through a portal on death in addition to dropping items. You can then enter the portal (optionally) and fight a more difficult version of the boss for more loot. This could be a stronger variant, or maybe even a dual encounter (one on each side, similar to Pianus).
Papulatus gives great exp for its level and has a very decent 5k nx droprate. Most people Solo it in a couple of minutes. I don’t think adding a White Scroll as a jackpot, even with a low rate, is the way to go. Technically Papulatus already has low rate jackpots like a perfect clean Katte/Katinas for example.
