As a result of some very serious vote abuse, we have had to make a small change to the voting system.

To be able to vote, you must now have a level 15 (or higher) character on that account. The information on the voting page has been adjusted to reflect this change.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes to new, legitimate players, but unfortunately the vote abusers left us with no choice. It was either this or let the economy be ruined. Hopefully it shouldn't take anyone more than a couple of hours to reach level 15, so you should be able to vote on your first day here. =)

If you find any issues or errors with this new system, please let us know so that we can fix things.

    Regards,

    The MapleRoyals Team

To be honest, it sounds pretty reasonable for 8k nx. Even a higher level still sounds reasonable if it means protecting the economy, if it's really going like you said it is.

I know it's too late now, but in retrospect making AP resets and teleport rocks untradeable and undroppable from the beginning would've prevented most vote abuse. Like how gacha tickets are untradeable currently.

People would still vote (legitimately) every day since gacha tix and AP resets and tele rocks are still desirable to have on their main character. It's just that now there's little incentive for people to go out and make hundreds of mule voting accounts.

I think it should be higher, say 25 or so. Someone playing legitimately will get to there in a couple of days on their own, and tbh you don't need mesos before this point anyway. But that's a lot more effort for a vote abuser to go through, especially as they can't boost the char in any way if they want to remain anonymous.

I agree with Ravenlore. A little higher isn't a bad idea. In fact I'd even be okay with even lvl 30. Give us some more incentive to hit that second job.

Making the AP resets untradeable would make it pretty much impossible to wash heavily (at least for me. I've bought most of my AP resets with mesos). Besides that there would still be benefits for a vote abuser because they could still just use NX for gaching.

As you said, it's a little too late to do that now - making AP Resets untradeable would leave those who are just starting out HP Washing their character at a major disadvantage against those who have finished washing. I'm not 100% sure if making AP resets untradeable to start with would have been the right thing to do, either, as some job classes need to put in and wash out a lot more base int than others. I don't think there would have been any issue with making Tele rocks untradeable from the start, though - but you live and learn!

The staff discussed what the minimum level should be for voting, and one thing really stood out as a reason for not setting the level cap higher - Islanders. Getting an Islander past level 20 is noticeably harder than getting a regular character or even a non-Islander perma-beginner past level 20. There aren't any level 11+ quests for Islanders, and that's just for starters.

No, there would not. You can't gacha until level 50. And that's way too much hassle to go through to circumvent the system.

Oh okay. My bad then! I haven't used any NX so far for anything other than resets/charms/tele rocks really. :)

I think this would only account for 0.1% of the player base, aka @Chokladkakan . Besides, having an islander doesn't limit you to that character alone on an account. Most islanders I'd assume have other mains, possibly also on a combined account. The only high levelled non-islander perma-beginner I know of that has not self leeched is Dizz, the rest have most likely not killed a single monster on their own after Maple Island, so even then level 20 is not an issue.

And if you despite the new rules only wish to play an islander or perma-beginner, you've already accepted the challenge. That being said, I agree with the cap not being raised too high, but 20 definitely seems more like an even ground. Just my two cents..

Actually, your post reminded me about this as I myself completely had forgotten about the cap. :p

Would a person have an islander as their first character though?

Why not issue a lower amount of NX rather than just barring them from voting? Say, characters below lv 5 get 1k NX; lv 5-10, 2.5k; lv 10-14, 4k; lv 15+, 8k. That way new players can still vote and get some NX while vote abusers would feel highly discouraged.

I think it's a looot of work for no reason, if you can't manage lvl 15 then I don't think you deserve voting.

Maybe on a separate account (that's what I was gna do when I wanted an islander)

Would it be possible to say a level 15 islander or level 30 other character?

There's really no need to do that as this has nothing to do with strategy or for any other reason besides limiting the amount of abusers.

I think doing AP Resets untradeable will lead to an awesome results! people will not have the possiblity to do tons of millions just at the start.. i think it's great to make meso be as hard as it was back in 2006! it's not too late to make them untradeable, but discuss about it with the other staff members and i'm sure you guys will make the right decision <3

it is too late to make em untradeable.. at this point you'd only force people to stay with their old characters that are already washed.. might as well throw in a wipe then with that logic !
