I also think it's worth adding Seyu's comment regarding the intentional malice behind scamming that warrants a potentiality harsher punishment to the spoiler conversation.
Good call for moving the discussion here I want to say, in regards to the last comment from the blacklist thread, that i do support harsher punishments for first offence on some regards, but also make it case specific. A guy socially engineering a "cute noob" for weeks/months and then scamming him for a massive portion of his net worth should be perma'd, whether its for 100m or 10b imo. Also, we have to acknowledge the facts that one, most scams are going toward rwt, which makes tracking the items/mesos extremely hard if not impossible to return, and two, that players NEED to understand that item droptrading is usually a scam. A simple solution would be for one - allow apr stacking in trades. Apr being unstackable makes trading very inconvenient and opens the door for scams, even if you trade legir through trade window. And two - inform the players. Players getting asked to drop trade apr should immediately be suspicious. Maybe adding a mapletip for it, or having an npc say it at ghe entrance to the fm would help. Im not one to victim blame, and excuse my french, but if you drop trade 100 apr, youre a dumbass. The guy who scammed you is 100% guilty and should be punished, but that doesnt contradict that you made a stupid mistake.
Also idk what the discord community is on about, ive been saying for years that idm why the hell apr arent stackable in trades and that them being unstackable is toxic and almost asks for scams
Ehh with APRs it's usually not. If paying with meso it's still generally good to make them either drop first or trade 9 at a time - if they insist on convenience they're the one who should shoulder the burden of scams, and if using ws/cs it's best to trade 1 ws/cs at a time, get your APRs for it, and repeat. Most of the time it's fine, but still best to play things safe on occasion there IS a scammer around. Stackable APRs would help a lot though. Or if that's not possible make like APR exchange vouchers or something? An NPC to turn APRs into those, and they're just a regular (non-cash) usable item that gives you an APR when used. But making APRs (and smegas, and owls, and rocks) tradable in more than 9 at a time would be the best option.
It's worth clarifying that allowing APRs to stack have been suggested numerous times by players in the past: (1) (2) (3) Unfortunately, a GM commented at the time that this was not feasible due to client limitations. But this was back in 2018, so perhaps things may have changed in the five and a half years since. In any case, I think a most fruitful feedback discussion should center specifically around how staff should handle investigating scamming-related reports and issuing scamming-related bans.
