Hello. Would like to get as much as various opinions about a server wipe/clean start. As you all know, there's multiple level 200 already, it might be unfair to other people who keep playing and trying to achieve their goals, but its been so long and nothing is changing on the server itself, just constant tiny events, and high leveled pros with huge amount of godly gear taking down bosses. As someone said there's no middle class. Everyday smegas saying "S>leech xx.m/h". Since summer the donation shop hasn't been updated, even though they said it would. In my honest opinion, a new life to the server would boost everyones perspective and encourage people to work hard , maybe even start a class they never thought they would., meet new friends and work together as one! Other than that if the server wipe is out of the question. It would be lovely to see a few adjustments to the server, maybe something new that hasnt been introduced yet, something to grab everyones attention and enjoy to the full potential! (not like the snowman/slime) Perhaps some coding on PQ's or items. Something to grab new players attention and get community together to enjoy. So that the veteran players(lv 200') and new beginners can participate to create the best MapleRoyals there is! By all means, don't get the wrong idea that I don't like the server, it's just my personal opinion so feel free to suggest and express yours! <3
How about no. I would say the vast majority of the players would be against a wipe. Many people still have goals they want to reach, and that would be an enormous setback. Also, I don't think I'd be able to get as far as I've gotten again..
Rather than motivating players to lvl up again, probably 60% or more would quit if a wipe were to happen now. I don't really see how that would help improving mapleroyals. Besides, what would happen with all the donor items that people have bought?
I don't think any of your reasons are valid personally, but even if they were it's a bandaid solution. You say there's too many high levels, so we should wipe. Do you just keep wiping the server as people get to higher levels? It makes no sense.
One of the main reason why there hasn't been any new updates, is because the staff is currently focusing on server stability, and writing the new source. Hopefully when the new source is released, there will be tons of new content which could be a lot of fun. You just have to be patient.
We will not be wiping the server. However, like @ImCanadian has mentioned, we are working very hard on writing an entirely new source code which we are confident will solve server stability. Along with this will come countless bug fixes to fix things that have never worked, and also some new content. There's still a lot to do and be tested but we are making good progress.
Wiping would not kill the server, IF it's coupled with, for example, an upgrade to v83. And seeing as how there have been rumors (and I know they're probably no truth behind them at the moment) about an upgrade to v83, I was planning no writing out a detailed post on how I think a server wipe along with an upgrade to that version would benefit the server. Wiping just to wipe, that is indeed harmful. Wiping to introduce new content does not kill a server.
Threads like these should be closed immediately and the topic should be completely out of discussion IMO. People worked hard on their leveling their characters, HP washing, collecting equipment, etc. I don't think anyone would appreciate having their hard work reset. The staff has stated that there won't be a wipe several times.
Why is a wipe a good idea if there's an upgrade in version? I see no reason to wipe. It would be one thing if the server was dying and/or people losing interest. There's plenty of players that patiently work on their characters. Wiping the server wouldn't make anyone happy.
It's just the difference in the amount of hard works and dedications people have made so far, and they're just getting rewards for it. We cannot just pull people down because they're already uphigh, instead we should have mind of climbing up just like them to achieve it. I have only been to this server for slightly more than a month, and i think most people are friendly and welcoming regardless of levels and their in game wealth. Even if we get that wipe you are looking for, it will have to repeat in about a few months to get that environment back again. This idea imo is really selfish and just wont work unfortunately.
