Hey guys, I thought I'd make a tool to make it easier to decide if you should buy scrolled gear or scroll the gear yourself. This doesn't take into account the time you'll spend tracking down thousands of 10% scrolls, but remember to value your time, too. At this time, the calculator only functions to calculate the cost of PERFECT gear. It also doesn't factor in that you'll be selling the reject gear. I will continue to update as I go, but for now it's best to think of this as a tool to assess costs of hitting a few 30% scrolls, or comparing the cost of scrolling with or without a WS. These are average costs, so it helps you know what to expect to pay. Everyone gets lucky sometimes, and everyone gets unlucky sometimes. So don't come to me saying you spend 2.4b trying to make 12att 1slot wg and failed. RNG happens, man. The calculator functions based on 4 factors: - $ Item = The cost you'd pay for the item - $ Scroll = The cost you'd pay for the scroll - $ WS = The cost of WS if you choose to use one - % Scroll = the success rate of the scroll My next goal with this calc is to get it to analyze costs of non-perfect gear. This is a challenge because it involves multiple times more work on statistics and functions than I've included here. I'll also have to build in a system to ask "how perfect do you want this gear to be?", which brings in a whole host of other challenges. If anyone already knows how to solve those easily, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO MODIFY THIS CALC AND RESUBMIT IT!! Nodi's Scrolled Gear Calculator updated April 9, 2015 Perfect WG Calculations Example
Your tool would value my claw (perfect craven) at 17b (17,087,777,778 mesos). interesting. It only cost me 3.2b, though... lmao
On another note: Interesting tool to discuss how to perfect your weapon. Land how many 30s before going to WS+10, and is WS+30 worth it? Does it include boom rates (I'm assuming no)? Interesting fact for NLs looking to perf a Craven: Assuming 300m for a 56 Craven and 15m for Claw 30 and 2m for Claw 10, 380m for WS, using two 30%s would be most cost efficient. Landing 1 before switching to WS+10 will cost you ~1.3b more. Going straight WS+10 from the start will cost you ~4.4b more.
You're so smart Nodi! lol and thanks to this, I realize I'm obviously too poor to scroll or buy equips lol...
Well the tool isn't calculating value. It's calculating cost, which is a very different thing in MS. It almost always costs more to scroll gear than to buy it already scrolled. For my curiousity, what #'s did you use for cost of claw, scroll, ws ?
This is exactly what I intended this beta version to do best: Tell you when to start using WS or not. thanks for the reply! EDIT: Also, there is no function to account for boomed gear. At the moment the calc only figures for perfect gear, so boom or fail is the same thing. Moving forward i'll try and figure out a way to display things a little more fluidly (i.e. 10att wg vs 12att vs 15att). If I get some help from the community this could even be used to tell you the best way to scroll (i.e. here's the gear and the cost of scrolls, I want X stats, how do i get there cheapest?). That would be ideal but it is a HUGE amount of work to get into things like that. Double EDIT: Oh I get it, boom rate for WS + 30%... that much is not included. As i consider the issue, there's definitely a point on the curve where WS + 30% beats WS + 10, but it is a pretty narrow band. I'll try and dream something up to help us figure that cost.
This is a really cool idea and it just gave me something to think about to make as a side project (since i code in java) I want to see if it's possible to take this one step further and take what you did here somehow import the database of MS so you could use that as a reference, and possibly add in a function to give you an item scroll predictor just for laughs or if people are in to that kind of thing. but RNG is RNG.
RNG is RNG, but information is powerful if used correctly. If everyone in the server collectively scrolls more efficiently, theoretically we'd have better stuff floating around. I think? I like the idea. I am absolutely not a coder, so I can offer you no advice, but I'll be happy to discus theory and maths at length anytime
Thank you, I've been doing this manually for myself and other people for like six months now. Now we just need someone to make a program like this for HP washing and I can retire from the forums.
Ask and ye shall receive, my friend: Nodi's HP Wash Helper v1.0 It would be helpful to know how much MP each class gains per level, but I cannot seem to find that. All data came from xr4v3nx's guide on Basil Market
from a section of code matt has previously posted: Beginners gain 12-16 Warriors with mx HP increase maxxed gain 54-58 Thieves and bowmen gain 20-24 (so go GMs, FWIW) Sairs (and 1st job pirates) gain 22-28 Buccs with HP increase maxxed gain 52-58 (less than 100% sure on this one) Mages gain 10-14
Thank you, ILY! And also thank you Matt, ILY Matt! Oh oops, i meant to ask about MP per level up. this is hp yes?
"Ask and ye shall receive" MP numbers: beginner 10-12 Warrior 4-6 Mage 22-24 (don't know what max MP increase does, I would assume +30) Bowman & thief & GM 14-16 Pirate 18-23 all of these are + (base int/10) Haven't downloaded the program yet, but I'll assume it doesn't account for double washing? Edit: Worth noting, that basil guide says that reset AP doesn't get the effects of improving HP increase skill, but it does in this server. Also the HP gained is over a 4 point range, similar to the HP from level ups. There's a full HP washing guide that's specific to royals at http://royals.ms/forum/threads/fully-revised-hp-washing-guide.8286/ and a table of the numbers (which you may find more applicable/easier to read) at http://royals.ms/forum/threads/hp-washing-reference-table.17093/ - The numbers I quoted you here arent in either one of them iirc
Late to the party as always, but can someone convert those tools to .xls or .xlsx format for us less fortunate users? Excel (Mac version) is being fussy about opening .ods files, and I'd like to not have to download open office to open two files. Thanks.
