I pressed the MapleRoyals launcher and this error popup suddenly appeard.

I've entered the MapleRoyals folder and saw the new file called "MapleRoyals_updated", I guess the two are related

Devs are currently pushing out a new client, so you may wish to restart the clients so that the game can patch accordingly

I have this "Failed with Windows error: You are not running the launcher from the correct path" message now, I didn't before and after trying to log in to the game from (the 2nd city I live in) instead of (the location I normally play), it started appearing on my screen.

Are you using the latest installer (27 Nov)?

Yes I installed the 88.1 update once I saw it was available. I was able to play less than 12 hours ago from the location I normally play, I drove to my apartment in the other city and now I get this error

Edit: I also just tried re-installing via the (newest available) setup file that I had downloaded and restarting, didn't change anything and I'm still getting the same error.

I also tried following this: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/no-such-host-temporary-solution.226217/ & that didn't change anything either.

No, I tried using my phone's hotspot but I have the same errors:

When I try opening the original MapleRoyals file, it gives me this error: "Failed updating the game: Get https://cdn.royals.ms/info/mr read tcp (numbers) -> (other numbers) An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

...and when I try opening "MapleRoyals_Updated" file: Failed with Windows error: You are not running the launcher from the correct path"

Have you also tried a clean reinstall (removal of old files before reinstall)

Uninstall > restart PC > reinstall

I haven't yet, just running the installer (27.11.23) again. I'll try a complete uninstall and reinstall now

Edit: I tried doing this, then launching from the installer. It says the same error: Failed updating the game: Get "https://cdn.royals.ms/info/mr" read tcp (numbers) -> (other numbers) An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

Are you able to access this website?
    https://cdn.royals.ms/info/mr
(it's meant for the exe to auto-patch)

For this error, your network (which could be the router's firewall) is blocking the access, hence why the auto-patch doesn't work
Note: if you are using a paid version of anti-virus, do check the firewall settings
(if you are using Windows Defender, please set a proper exception for Royals folder and not just disabling Windows Defender)

You need to Google the steps to access your router's settings based on the brand and model as the general steps won't help you much - https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-enable-your-wireless-routers-built-in-firewall-2487668
