Well even so, you can just show your love to people in just one Smega, then if it clicks, you can either whisper or buddy him/her. Also, is it necessary to see Smega Conversations with people practically in the same guild or buddy lists? What's the point of that? It's indeed fun to sometime see a different Smega other than S>/B> stuff but we kinda need to have a nice organized Smega system that avoids people to either feel provoked to answer which leads into a disaster. Aka, someone broadcasts an illegal Smega or whatever. Which could've been prevented if someone didn't Smega something that lead to a discussion. Thus, all I am saying is, keep those things to whisperers buddy chats and whatever guild talk. We don't need to see your useless chats/discussions to each other that involves those back and forward affection to each other and witness their annoying trolling. THIS can all happen in buddy chat. For example if someone smegas "*IGN* is a troll" The specific person can reply of course, but then just please keep it to buddy chat afterwards cause we're not here to read the drama that comes afterwards of the teasing. To me, that should be kept private and in the buddy system.
I think the ideal would be if you tried to spam with smegas, the game that a CD ~ 1 min 30 sec Something like, 3 smegas at once, there came into CD, something like normal chat, when you try to repeat more than 3 times the same thing, you have to wait a few seconds.
I'm against this, it would ruin one of the best parts of the server. Smegas are an important part of the community spirit here and the drop rate reflects that by giving everyone ample opportunity to participate. The kind of spamming in your examples is extremely rare, and IMO can better be solved with an overhaul of spamming punishments. If a smega cooldown can be implemented, could a smega bans be implemented instead for prolific offenders?
10 second cooldown isn't much of a cooldown. 60 seconds seems to be a good balance. I think the current state of extremely cheap and plentiful smegas was okay back when the server was new and had less than 100 people online. Now that there's 300-400 people online, there's too much spam and useless chitchat that really should be go to buddy chat.
i just think that I've been in situations where I might have used 1-4 smegas in one minute, so 1 per 60 seconds is a bit harsh if it's only intended to block people who spam 10 at once. There are others ways to do that without limiting or effecting normal players
calling talking over smegas useless You can use togglesmega command if everything smegas do bother you. They have no other purpose.
I personally like the anarchy of the current state of smegas. I can see how spam a la OP's post might be annoying to some, but I actually find it kind of amusing.
Lets be honest if we make it Twice every Minute as Limit (example) ppl who regulary use smegas wont be restricted from anything they do without the change. And you still got the chance to do a more precise buy\sell\recruit because you still can use 2 in follow. Now in my eyes everyone who is strict against this looks like typical smega chatters\spammers. Only reason why they got a problem with.
But like, on a more fundamental level, why are you trying to police how people use smegas? Like OP has already pointed out, we have a ~togglesmegas option if you don't like it. Ok, this is an overgeneralization, but even if it were to be true, like, duh? People tend to, um, defend their interests and habits? Let sleeping dogs lie.
Then why is it so hard for these people to move their habits over to their Buddy system? I don't see a problem with just trolling each other in buddy chat to respect their privacy. better to scream out in buddy chat than embarrass yourself in the server with a stupid smega. Thus provoking an inevitable chain of events that, like I said before, might result in a ban. Or just the spamming of smegas that will end up in a total irrelevant conversation where only more and more people will join in and that makes a mess. I just can't understand why you can't see there are at least some measures we need to take to make it all more organized.
You seem to be fixating on the potential negative uses of smegas to support your argument, when in reality the trolling / drama / guild only spam you talk about accounts for a tiny percentage of social smegas. If people were really using smegas in place of guild and buddy chat, you'd be getting 100 messages a minute. Stan's example is a good one, and there are countless others, with people from all over royals joining in with a little fun. I'm sure I'm not alone in playing royals more for the community aspect than anything. If you want your playing experience to be serious business grinding to 200, fine. But you can simply toggle them off, please don't ruin it for the rest of us.
+9000 to this. In a server with 400+ players online, there's just going to be people who play the game/use items differently. And simply being annoyed by something should not be a valid reason to limit how someone else plays the game. To comment on the original suggestion which was more about spamming: A possibility would be to make it so that the cooldown is only applied after the exact same thing has been smegad twice. But then have a cooldown of ~5 minutes. That way people who don't actually spam won't be affected. If a player still tries to spam after that, you could still report them.
This is so easily avoided, same thing with normal chat if you repeat same thing you just add a dot or something and its not the same.
As He also wrote some ppl wanna see Recruiting Smegas or Selling smegas and dont wanna miss them because of Spammers/Chatters. Its Like you Saying "dont make some rules just turn that feature off for you so we can do whatever we want"
I think the best answer to this is the staff currently does a fair enough job policing SMEGAs so that a cool down period isn't necessary at this time. People abusing SMEGAs can either be muted or temporarily banned if necessary.
A little late but you know how a message pops up if you spam/enter text too fast in your chat? Couldn't that be applied to smegas somehow? That kind of cool down seems much more better.
