How long should you be entitled to your FM Spot once you've secured it?

I feel like the character you described and the character of the person who is spamming the login button at the end of a server check are more alike than they'd care to admit.

I don't doubt that some of the people spot sniping for money are bad community members, just like many gacha scavengers probably are too. But when the system is already unfair, I don't think we should penalize people for trying to get a turn.

If the blacklist was used in this way it would totally stifle any discourse because people would be afraid to voice a potentially controversial opinion. Even though I hardly use FM and have never rushed to get a spot or spot sniped, I think I should be able to point out the unfairness of a person being able to keep a spot for a whole month without being suspected of being a spot sniper myself. Less ambiguity in community standards is better.

 

1. It already is. This post is an argument to move away from the status quo, and I'm arguing to keep it. And making controversial comments is also not inherently blacklistable, it is the judgment of each reader who and who not to associate with. The list at the start of the community blacklist post is inconsequential.

2. Not everyone with an fm1 spot is a server check spammer. Anecdotally, I've been given many good spots away from friends who no longer cared to renew theirs, and unfortunately lost it in like 2-3 days quite often. Further, if these people are alike as you say, then they will exhibit other objectionable behavior which will hopefully surface to judge them in kind.

My key point is that trying to regulate the community blacklist because someone somewhere feels that who is officially or not officially on the curated list matters is meaningless nonsense, and this attempt to stifle "controversy" is only viewable to me as a way to silence dissent. Just leave it as it is. Whether the thread owner decides to update a list doesn't matter. How the community comes to view that individual does.

 

honestly, ive gotten sniped and ive also snipped people, there is no problem here in my opinion. if your putting in the hours and manning the people to get spots off of people or cycling spots honestly good for them and its deserved, its already a good thing fm gets reset when server goes down, u just got to be fast getting the spot. the only thing i can think of if we wanna make this more fair in a way is have a 30 minute cool down of fm spot making after a reset, so its not who ever has the fastest internet gets the spots first. that way its more random. and i would love to compete and see that happen. since everytime i log on as fast as possible on every reset the highest i get is fm 4. i dont like that its up too your internet speed to compete after a reset

Completely off topic, but, am I not the only one who gets really irritated by the scavengers? I now CC every time I get an item that gets an auto-smega. And I NPC the junk instead of dropping it, even if it only NPCs for 1 mesos

I have no trouble with my shop being in a weird room and weird channel. It will just take longer to sell my stuff.

My trouble is with the fact that I'm not given enough time to sell my stuff.

Not saying that a complicated solution is better, but i would be happy if for example channel 1, 2, and 3 reset your shop every 24 hours, keeping the competition for a good spot for those who like it, and the other channels leave it up all week for those who don't. I don't want the npc stealing all my items and mesos just because I'm an infrequent player and might forget to log back in for a month. But i have no chance of becoming a regular player when my invs are too full to start playing again either.


Here's my dream solution, i know it's never going to be a thing, but here it is: Your store only gets closed automatically when it is empty, items left unattended in your shop are automatically lowered in price by 5% every 10 hours(so that after 200 hours their price would be 0 meso). When an item drops below its npc value, it gets npced automatically.
This would allow one (without knowing exact prices)to leave their crap and forget about it, would make it rewarding for people to check all channels and rooms for bargains, while still allowing more active players to use their shops as normal.

This would be so awesome. Maybe a week is too long, but even 2 - 3 days for the other channels would be awesome. This would help alleviate the current unfairness in FM spots as the "crap" spots would have an upside.

But first world problems eh? We get so many gacha tickets that it clutters our inventories too much.
