Unfortunately, this is a tough problem. I do like many solutions in this thread, particularly Johnny's here, however this particular feature is one of those that has a lot of moving parts. In order to move on with implementing something like this, we need to: Collect all proposed methods and discuss which features are abusable or balanced, and feasible (actually possible to make.) Once we determine what is feasible and what we are capable of implementing, we can truly weigh the pros and cons of what is available to add. Set up a plan to implement the boss re-warp in a way that we are all happy with. This includes dev work, specifically collaboration between staff who are already saturated with other duties. Testing. Given these four incredibly time consuming things, on top of what we already have to work on, prioritizing client fixes and crash issues as a whole is a much better use of everyone's time. I know the recent crashing issues have been incredibly frustrating, since as a player myself I've experienced them, so apologies if this is not the answer anyone was looking for.
It's been really bad. I can still finish Papulatus most of the time, but I have problems even finishing Ephenia--tried 2x today, both times dc.
upvote for this. for boss instances which normally takes a longer time its really common for someone in the pt to disconnects in the middle of bossing which cause the run unable to finish or extends to a really long long run. I have seen many 2 hours+ ht run and 1hour+ cwkpq due to main atker dc at early stage.
I haven't read the entire thread but why not just use the custom npc we already have in fm to sell a 1 time use rewarp ticket for around 50m mesos for example. Of course you can carry more than one of these tickets but if you dc from a run you can use one to get back in. Seems a lot simpler than that post you referenced also it could be a gold sink if people want to try and "abuse" it. If the ticket is abused too much then the price can be adjusted.
While that serves to prevent abuse aspects of an implementation, the general sentiment around a rewarp feature is that it's quality of life, and meant to remedy unfair situations. "I disconnected from the game. This is something that is out if my control and happens often." I think adding a cost of 50m (or some other sum of meso) goes against this sentiment. Furthermore, this doesn't do much in the way of easing development either.
Have the Mystic Scroll in the lounge keep track of your boss time and allow people to click on the boss and return after they are rebuffed and ready to go in. I think having a quick and easy solution as soon as possible first and then after, looking to prevent abuse is better for the community instead of having everything perfected and releasing it far later down the road (4 years now??) and finding out there are more problems associated with it. I also think it's a good idea to have the attack potions like Onyx apples to be running on your character so that even if you disconnect, the 10 minutes are still being counted. That way you can quickly reconnect and help without wasting time or resources. Please just allow us to reconnect to bosses and fix abuse problems later (( I'm scared of going on boss runs now and that's the only thing I and many others do on this server.
The previous server I played had this system. Everyone pretty much abused this system. They intentionally disconnect when they get seduced or about to die. Or tell the buyer to join back before the timer runs out. The possible balance implement would be allowing players to reconnect with a limit of time if they DC. But also adding a punishment system if they join back, such as buffing the boss for each player who disconnects. It could be boss health, defense, damage or debuff…etc. Players wouldn’t gain any advantage from disconnecting because it would only increase the time cost and difficulty. And it gives players chances to join back to finish the boss.
Why not just make the punishment have them join back dead, getting warped back to town 10 minutes from when they DC'd? That makes a DC pretty much turn into a dead, instead of a kick from the boss. Still not great for whoever DC'd (and hope it's not your bish), but far better than nothing, and not really abusable.
This is also a good idea for punishment, kind of like Von Leon's failed jail room. It could be interesting to see random punishment right after players join back from DC. It could be anything to player, boss, or monster, including death.
i suggest giving anyone 1 more chance but no exp option who dced before boss drop. so we can try again zak/ht/krex that doesnt have drops before killing last part
