Hi all, returning player here. It's been MANY years since I've played and I've only ever leveled a bishop always dreaming of having the mesos to fund a character to actually boss on. That dream's never come to fruition. That being said, I do have a bishop already and some funds and I really want to be able to actually experience bossing and other end game content but have some questions before I jump back into the game. Edit: I always wanted a NL but was constantly holding off expecting "perfection" trying to ensure I could fund BIS dps. At this point my ONLY concern is just being able to experience the content and having an enjoyable time getting there. 1. Is there a preferred "beginner friendly" class for bossing? 2. Is there a highly sought after class for bossing (preferably meets up with point 1) so I won't have to struggle with finding parties? Other questions around the game and leveling: Is there a "bossing path" or like dailies that I should be doing once I get to X Level? Any new content to familiarize myself with e.g. Ellin forest (I *think* I can get a good medal for stats from this?) Any other maybe "unique" equips like rings or bis shoes etc that might be grindable? Leveling guides (I don't want to leech myself) or any key things to make sure I do while leveling e.g. get cracked glasses from the one PQ? From what I've read it sounds like HP washing isn't mandatory any more and can do quests down the road is this true or is it still needed for some classes? Looking for any mentors/friends (guild invite will drop IGN once I create my new account) that would be willing to help me along my journey. Thanks!
IMO buccaneers or paladins, reasons: easy to play because of iframes (bucc) or stance (paladin). easy to hp wash due to Improved MaxHP skill (bucc is a bit harder than paladin). easy to find party due to SI/TL(bucc) or crash (paladin). not hard to fund compared to NL/shadower. However, for the point 3, veteran players often mule it. For the dailies, papulatus and 2 ellin bosses are good since 130-ish. Once you hit 170, rose garden is very good for making mesos. Play whatever the fuck you want my friend. Class balance is the best it has ever been, all of 'em are viable. Obviously, each their own niche. We can go talk all meta and shit - but honestly the lower you go on the tier-list, the better the class its damage on a lower budget. Once you reach the point of the meta starting to matter, you are at least close to your first lvl 200 and you'll have at least 3 other attackers (almost) ready to boss. THE MOST POWERFULL CLASS IN THIS GAME IS YOUR BUDDY-LIST AND GUILD/ALLIANCE!!! I go bossing on an IL mage, what can I say. As @TheLittleK said, Bucc and Pally are very good picks for your first attacker. Relatively easy to get fund and bring strong support to any content. As a Pally you can join as attacker fully naked, without weapon. People are desperate for its buffed Crash Buff (wich now is a party buff to ignore weap/magic cancel) I would argue that a DK is the best first attacker to hit lvl 200 with. Very strong at very commonly run content such as Zak, Shao, LHC and daily solo content such as Chao/Eph and RG. They do run into some problems with end-game content. Regardless, by the time you reach that point you have 3 other attackers that can do that content as well. Both BM and MM are also very decent picks. Nobody has ever complained about having SE in a run. MM has historically received the shorter end of the stick but with recent content updates, they do bring some better tools than BM for some end-game content (such as LHC and VL) with better mobbing and blind. Thiefs are notoriously expensive to fund. Although, Shadowers are currently on the top of the tier list, basically need nobody to excel and also bring very useful tools to the party (smokescreen). NL's do "need" SE to function properly, SE increases their average damage by 53%. So you either need to make some friends or mule your own. I play one as an Ironman (no party, no trade challenge) and my god, they are a blast to play. For any leveling guides, I suggest you just read the guides for the classes you play. Yes, a lot of them are very outdated but none have any false information. And just do quests if mindless grinding a map for days is not your thing. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/quests-worth-doing-2-0.185825/ It took me 10 days to hit level 80 on my ironman with just question without following this guide. You can be level 100 in a week and 120 by 2 weeks if you just play the game. Don't bother about HP-Washing, you don't need to. About gear Pick up Zhelm at level 50. HTP at 120 (yes fuck MoN until later) Work on either Quest or Monster Card Medal BiS gear is still the gear with attack such as Facestompers/VL Boots, Storm Caster Gloves/BWG and a cape with Attack (BFC/PGC/PAC). HOWEVER, fuck that until later. Stats are worth a lot more on lower levels, just go with your class gear until you have several bil meso to spend on a piece of gear. (I used something like a 13 atk, 11 STR, 5 DEX glove on my DK until level 190-something). You can grind and scroll this gear yourself, wich for me has been one of the most fullfilling parts of this game. WB and glhf with the grind !
^ Thank you for that post, I'm on my first character (lvl 137 Bishop) and was thinking about getting a second (or third?) going just to try a change of pace, but have been stressing trying to get a crash course in HP washing and how much money I reasonably need to set up my new chars w/ int gear to get them started, along with also just feeling kind of compelled to go with meta picks out of concern they won't get to participate in boss runs or higher PQs otherwise
To get my bm to 9k/9k hp/mp at level 150 was about 6b on apr Meta picks are really only relevant for runs with randoms. Wich 90% of all people stop doing after lvl 150-180. With the exception of playing NL without your own SE mule, they just suck too hard without SE. Surely, if none of your friends have CR its gonna suck as well. Since you have a Bishop yourself you can fairly easily leech yourself a SE mule or if you're tired of waiting on others for CR. You can always bloodwash your mules (just full ap to hp without washing). If you have it wear int gear you can save a bloodwash a pally but not SE. Cr is also only like lvl ~85 and SE is lvl 130 Anyway, play whatever the fuck you want. Who cares if its a meta-pick if you stop playing the game at lvl 140. Whatever people think is meta, lvl 180 Hero > lvl 140 NL. There are countless guides on HP washing. Allthough it has a learning curve, there is a lot of rng. It really is not hard. 1) Buy best int gear you are willing to buy. 2) Click int until 150-250 base int 3) Mp-wash for however long you are emotionally able to handle throwing meso in a bottomless pit 4) Math out your extra mp and potential HP around 100-120 to convince yourself you REALLY need to stop mp-washing 5) Realise there is no content before lvl 155-170 that requires any washing 6) Realise you really, really, really can't be bothered about those 2-3 pieces of content that requires you to wash 7) Wash out all int on lvl 135 8) Play the game 9) Realise you really despise playing BM 10) Realise you just spend 6b on APR 11) Cry 12) Make Ironman to withold yourseld from leeching+washing ever again 13) Realise you actually enjoy playing the game when you are actually playing the game 14) Go bossing with an IL mage because its fun and you have amazing friends that just want to spend time together and don't give a fuck
