    Hi all! I'm looking to get some tips for my next weapon purchase ~f2 Currently using a 125wa sparta but I'd like to swap to a flame sword for the faster speed, however saving up for a perfect 135wa flame sword feels like it would take quite some time ~f12 (also would rather put that kind of meso towards a claymore for hitting as hard as possible with si/appo). This would mostly be for solo content or general scenarios where I dont always have si or need to appo.

    What I'm wondering about specifically is the minimum wa I should look for on a flame sword to make it worth the investment in replacing my sparta, would a 2b or so 120ish wa flame sword for example really put my sparta to shame? ~f6 lmk~ thanks<3

    The question regarding attack speed on same type of weapons is indeed very easy.
    Sparta/FS=690/630=1.09524
    FS is 9.524% faster than a Sparta.

    With 1h vs 2h its a little more complicated since they are not the same weapons and do not use the same damage formula. This formula evaluates solely the average damage output in a vacuum (vs a 0 defense mob) and with equal attack speed.

    The exact formula for 1h vs 2h - aka clay/ST vs Sparta/FS:

    How much (c) more atk does my 1h sword need to equal a 2h with same atk?
    c = (0.308*STR*ATK)/(3.080*STR+DEX)

    Make sure to use the total stats of all buffs and items, including attack pot, MW20, cgs, rings and MoN.

    When resolving for the difference in Attack Speed with Sparta/ST+Booster at AS(3) or Clay at AS(4) vs Flame Sword+Booster at AS(2) you can use the following functions if you'd like to check for a Clay/ST vs FS:

    ST(3):
    c = (0.308*STR*ATK)/((3.080*STR+DEX)*1.09524)

    Clay(4):
    c = (0.308*STR*ATK)/((3.080*STR+DEX)*1.19505)

    When you are fully buffed up with SI and such the formula returns to the original form:

    How much (c) more atk does my 1h sword need to equal a 2h with same atk?
    c = (0.308*STR*ATK)/(3.080*STR+DEX)

    Lastly, a faster 1h weapon is more QoL and with a Shield, Guardian makes you even more immune to KB. However, a weaker but faster weapon is disproportionally affected by defense and loses out on slightly more damage than a stronger but slower weapon.

    So I understand with Si both swords would have the same speed but..that's about the extent of my knowledge on the matter lol! I'm mostly considering the flame sword as a more QoL being mainly without Si. By the sounds of it, a slightly weaker flame sword can actually outperform buut still not entirely sure it's worth that much of an investment -.-' TY for the link though! Super helpful info and can now put some numbers to the equation! ~f2

    Ahhh so much math! :'( Haha, thank you for the reply! Also for going a step further with 1h vs 2h comparison, my goal currently is to plan for both as each seem to have their pros and cons, especially when considering things like guardian, trying to settle on just one all around weapon seems impossible! I'll be sure to refer to these calcs more going forward though, thanks for the info! ~f2
