So season 3 just ended and i'd like to give a full review on how it went about. Rather exhausted at the moment though so i'll write it up tomorrow. Congratulations to the winners though (ManSlut 1st, Lemur 2nd and Pain 3rd) and thank you to everyone else who participated!

Do drop in your feedback on how Season 3 went for you if you'd like, i'll cover them tomorrow as well [:)]

It was amusing to see how the people started to dwindle down immediately once the first part of the event was over. Not sure why people didn't just stick around since you guys didn't even get to finish the questions.

Also, I really really liked the Scavenger hunt part! Though I'll be frank when I say that the Eos Tower Scrolls actually did give me a HUGE leg up when it came to getting the items from the tower. I think you guys said they weren't going to be of much use (the Orbis scroll towers weren't) but the Eos ones definitely were.

Otherwise, I had a blast. :) Absolutely nerve-wrecking near the end, but a blast!

I joined in a bit late, and even though phase 1 ended up being a time sink (not enough participants to go through 25 rounds) and thus everyone who was there moved through to the scavenger hunt, I liked the idea of all the categories.

Although I didn't come prepared at all for the scavenger hunt, in terms of space of etc (I had like 8 slots and had to throw away some shit and put other things in storage), I was under the impression you'd have to turn in every batch of ETC at each station, or at least make some kind of pit-stop. The way it works now only gives further advantage to people that team up (I'm not voicing my concern over people that collect things together, I tried to team up myself but my preferred partner was taken). I realise it might require a lot of multitasking if you do it this way, especially if Chris is handling all the mules himself. I also thought the ETC items would have some kind of riddle behind them as well (maybe something to consider for next season?). Nevertheless, I was kind of proud making the cut, being solo and FJ/tele-less. If I wasn't such a dummy to figure out the clues I could probably have placed top3.

Phase 3 was handled much better than last season (I didn't participate even though I technically qualified but forfeited my spot in round 1 and observed round 3). The new idea of the countdown was more lenient, and the themes were stressful enough (monsters in Maple World that lacks limbs? WTF!) and the ruling was fair, I cannot complain. No Grupin this time though, a little disappointed...

THE JUMP QUEST can be summarised with ease. Or should I say EZ.

All in all, well excecuted and grats to the winners!

Somehow you guys always manage to make this it even more fair.

I don't know if this happened in Season 2, but I really liked the advantage for the First stage! I thought it was pretty neat. Though I was pretty slow. Also so sorry for troubling any of you for asking stupid questions (like the Grupin tails).

Second stage was well executed as ever.
Third stage was definitely handled much more better this time. The ruling was fair and you explained most the rules as well.

Anyways, it was fun as ever! Though unfortunately I didn't win the JQ.
Thanks for the event as always!

    Season 3 Review:

Level 1 (Trivia) probably didn't go as smooth as it did last season however in overall it went fine. I'll address certain things in point form though:

    - Took a little longer to get everyone off the steps and platform above the portal

    - Had an incident where someone went to loot item dropped for 'Name that Item' Round (even though he said he wasn't participating, totally uncalled for).

    - @Kekturi somehow getting lucky with 'Repeat After Me' by pre-typing a sentence and being able to answer correctly a split second after I release the sentence to everyone.
(The Tournament wasn't rigged in any way, probably my fault for having the 'Repeat After Me' sentences this season theme around Chairs that made it a little predictable. Even though it was almost unlikely someone could guess exactly what Chair-description was coming up next, it happened anyways and I can only assure you guys that it was simply pure luck on his side)

    - Significantly lesser number of participants this Season. We had to stop the Trivia at Question 22/25 as there weren't anymore participation after that. There actually were a couple of players who had yet to get through Trivia but still in the map however they seem to have gone afk hence we decided to move straight to Scavenger instead.

Level 2 (Scavenger) went a lot smoother this time round (in my opinion at least) and we made the clues to locate each station slightly harder than previous seasons. The verification process at the end after the Final Station was done much faster this time round, also being less stressful on our end (hosting). I did realize failing to mention certain points during the pre-scavenger briefing in FM such as sticking to the same channel and not coming into FM for any reason, ended up having to pm each person that tried CCing or coming into FM. I'll remember to make this a lot clearer in future.

Level 3 (Categories) may have been a little tricky however I did explain the reason behind why each person was eliminated and ensured everyone else found the ruling fair. This segment turned out better than i expected and i hope we can keep it this way for future seasons.

Level 4 (Jump Quest) as usual, nothing much to comment on. Might be changing up Jump Quest used next season (unconfirmed for now)

    In Overall:
Main issue this season was participation rate. I was surprised to receive about 4-5 pm's (in the midst of Scavenger) from people who apparently missed/forgot the Tournament was going on at that moment. I thought the timing was already stated well over a week in advance, also without any last minute change or delays. Not sure what else i can do to improve the participation (not a fan of spamming Smegas in-game really).

Hosting the Tournament got a lot better for us (@Maffoo , @Izzy , and myself) this Season as we started using Skype to communicate with one another throughout instead of having to type and adding onto our -already stressful- multi-tasks (especially during Scavenger). It really does take a lot of team-work to get the entire Tournament going smoothly and successfully.

    Anyways,
Season 4 is tentatively set for April 25th (Saturday) at 17:00 GMT (Server Time).

Updated First Post with Winners of Season 3 (and players who participated). Congrats to ManSlut on winning First this season [:)]

You actually were pretty consistent throughout the entire Scavenger Hunt though! We noticed you completed the First and Second Stations 1st and pretty fast as well, that may have given you more of an advantage than the EOS portion. I wonder if you got confused with the Last Station's clue as you seemed to be a little lost (we may be wrong though, just based off the constant tracking).

Back to your point however, we usually include ETCs from monsters within the Tower to make people walk down instead of simply using the scroll although i do see how one can use the scrolls to their advantage if they knew their way around the tower well enough (such as knowing which floors contained the relevant monsters). That being said, we'll probably (unconfirmed) be finding something new for next Season as the EOS Tower has been used for 3 Seasons now. Thank you for the feedback regardless.

Ah..we actually eliminated the need for turning in ETC at each station as the trading process complicates and delays everyone, especially when a lot of players enter the station at once. As for players teaming up, we made it such that every individual had to make their way to each Station and mention "i am here" so that sorta works its way as a 'pit stop' perhaps? I'm not sure how else i can improve the Scavenger to ensure fairness between those who solo and work as a team.

Also, i don't handle the mules all by myself; Maffoo, Iffy and myself were in charge of 1 station each (with our respective mules) while the tracking of players were done on a separate, second client. Even so, it does require a lot of multi-tasking for each station master to trade + verify items + give clues to next station + keep a constant track of a certain number of players (as we faced in Season 1 of Tournament). I'll try to see how else i can further improve the Scavenger portion, thank you for the feedback though!

Thank you for the feedback! Glad to know you had a good time again this season [:)] Pity about the JQ though, i mean...there were a couple of skilled jumpers who made it through the Tournament to being in the JQ Stage so...tough luck!

It's that time again for a new season of Tournament! Minor updates to first post, nothing significant.
Season 4 pretty much follows the same structure/style as Season 3 (including JQ as well).

Season 4 timing finalized to be at 18:00 GMT+1 (Server Time) on 25th April (Saturday).

You can join us for Season 5 then! Exams > Royals [;)]

    Season 4 Review:

Level 1 (Trivia) - There were some errors on my part on identifying the wrong winners for their respective rounds, however these were corrected shortly after, my bad on the false hopes. Other than that everything went pretty smooth [:D]

Level 2 (Scavenger) - For the most part it was alright, except for a couple few that were either extremely lost and/or didn't understand English very well that i had to guide along the way (keeping to my limits without revealing anything that may give them any advantage). The clues and station maps used this time round were a little harder, i noticed quite a number of players getting lost (while tracking them). Sorry to those that ended their journey here.

Level 3 (Categories) - As usual, we tend to keep this fair by discussing the reason behind each player's elimination such that everyone (Hosts & Players) are in agreement to the way the ruling is made. One of the answers from the final category turned out to be wrong on our part; Yeti and Pepe vs. Yeti & Pepe and apparently the former was correct according to Royals (not sure if there's 2 different types) so i decided to allow @carcrash to join in the JQ Round hence it became Top 7 instead of 6, just for this Season. brakelights eventually ended up winning the Top Prize of 1 billion mesos, so congrats!

Level 4 (Jump Quest) - Nothing much to say here as usual. A JQ Event hosted for 6 players, nothing ever goes wrong.

Also congrats to @Marty on coming in 2nd, winning a White Scroll
    [IMG]

and DuckV2 coming in 3rd, winning 100 Fames! (to be awarded at a later date, after @Kekturi 's pending Fame. Thanks Peter for being so patient!)

I'll be changing up quite a few stuff for Season 5 since i'll be done with personal grinding/training my characters, giving me more time to improve/enhance the Tournament Experience. Expect the JQ to be changed for Season 5 as well!

Season 5 is tentatively* set for May 30th (Saturday) at 18:00 GMT+1 (Server Time)
*To be confirmed 1 week before the actual date.

I will update the Winners & Participants List for Season 4 at a later date as well, will give this thread a bump when Season 5 nears. Feel free to post a feedback, for those that went through today's Event. ~f17

Something I dislike with the scavenger hunt is that you picked a mob with low spawnrate (kargo) making it easier for aoe classes to farm them like bishops. Other than that the event was great & thanks for hosting it! Cant wait for the next one!

I really enjoyed it, was pretty awesome. I especially liked the savage hunt, because we formed a really awesome party and it was fun to work as a team. But about that stage - I honestly don't like the fact you picked the JQ for 3rd spot, where you could easily die! I mean, I was there for the first time and I wasn't prepared that I might die in an event, lucky me it only happened 2 times so I just used my last 2 charms and didn't lose any exp. Other than that, well done! And shoutout to my savage hunt team!

Grand Quest Tournament Season 5 Review

    Level 1 (Trivia)
    - I'm happy to see quite a lot of people attended this Season, it was truly a fight for Level 2 instead of "meh, barely 25 people here i'll confirm make it through". A lot of active participation throughout the 25 Rounds. There were some mistakes on my part in identifying the winners, and a particular Unscramble question, thankfully all of them were solved soon after.

    Level 2 (Scavenger)
    - A whole lot smoother this time, given that i managed to explain the Rules much clearer, and have every single participant on Buddy-list for ease of monitoring. We made the Scavenger a lot more challenging than previous Seasons, especially with the final Station located past Valley of the Heroes. Its actually easy to get by that without Dying, but i can understand how people would though, pretty nerve-wracking to get by for a first-timer. I had some comments in-game that people really loved the Scavenger, glad to see that =)

    Level 3 (Wheel of Fortune)
    - Definitely more challenging of an Event than Categories. I actually made a mistake in this Level by accidentally playing 1 more round than needed, hence we actually ended up with 7 Jumpers for Level 4. Regardless, gotta say hosting this segment was pretty fun. Sorry to those that lost here though.

    Level 4 (Jump Quest)
    - Finally, something different for a change! Deep Forest of Patience 5 - 7. Nothing much to comment here though, pretty standard and only 7 people to monitor.

I'll like to thank @FishBiscuit for helping me towards the end of Scavenger, really helped speed up the verification process, as well as assisting with the Final Jump Quest part =) Also thanks to @Miika & @FishBiscuit for being the sponsors for Season 5!

I'll update the First Post with Winners and Participators sometime later, just to make the post complete =)

    The Winners!
1st Place - jaysunn, winning himself 1,000,000,000 mesos!

2nd Place - Speedo, winning himself a White Scroll!

and 3rd Place - Pain winning 100 Fames! (Yet again!) - To be Awarded soon

    In Overall/Concluding the Tournament:

Grand Quest Tournament has come to an end, after 5 Events over 5 Months.

Total Giveaway: 5,000,000,000 Mesos, 4 White Scrolls, 1 Chaos Scrolls and 500 Fames (When the Fames have all been distributed that is).

My initial plan was to have this running for the whole of 2015, but I've decided to make a change. I'll be working on a new Event that may or may not be similar to this (in structure at least). I'll wait till we've transitioned to the New Source before making any dates for Future Events.

I'd like to thank the Leaders of HOLLYWOOD @Maffoo @Izzy @FishBiscuit @Miika for all they have done to help out with the Tournament Planning and hosting throughout the Seasons. I'd also like to thank everyone who participated and reviewed/left their feedback here, its nice to read that you guys had a great time throughout these Events. Congrats once more to the Winners! ~f17

Thank you for hosting this for five months! The Grand Quest Tournament was by far my favorite of any event in all of my years playing Maple! I wish I could've attended last month's but 4/5 is still good!

The only thing that I'd like to be different is the jump quest part.
