I wanted to propose a simple change, that would make Party Quests a more enjoyable experience and encourage more players to play them.

Currently KPQ and LPQ are pretty fun and nostalgic, but one of the frustrating things winds up when players get to the guess the number stage aka the stage before the final boss it becomes a slow slog that has no 'challenge' to the team.

I would propose that in these PQs the solution for the penultimate stage in KPQ and LPQ be switched to a static value of 123 & 12345 respectively.

    I would argue:

    * The issue with these puzzles is there literally is no skill or challenge for players. Players just brute force all the combinations it doesn't make the PQ more enjoyable, it just slows down the PQ.
    * PQs are no longer an efficient way of EXP gain, so there is no need for such a game play halting puzzle and by setting a static value, it still does require a full party to activate the next round.
    * Players who are unaware of the change will not be impacted as this is the first combination a vanilla party would guess in the puzzle.

I could understand that this may be a valid solution for LPQ but not KPQ due to the similarity to earlier puzzles, it may also apply to OPQ potentially as well, and think there could be discussion to this idea.

No, it ruins the nostalgia, as much as a meme as “muh nostalgia” is.

Probably the main 5 pieces of nostalgia that players really feel in this game:
    • KPQ
    • LPQ
    • First time Zakum
    • Orbis Boat Ride
    • Job advancement

Also, this just heavily supports people muling these PQs. This is KPQs worst stage to mule and LPQs 2nd worst stage to mule. I could argue without the combo stage you could easily just solo KPQ with mules in around 10-15mins without the box stage.

The "issue" with these stages is less the combinations themselves but random party members not cooperating or going afk on boxes. If everybody knows what to do or is willing to follow instructions, the stage isn't actually that horrific... we just laugh about it, drop coins on the stupid balloon with the punchable face... etc.

Errant party members are part of the experience, but I personally would not oppose something being done to LPQ stage 8 since it's ridiculous to spend 15-20 minutes on one stage (which has happened... 46789 anyone?). KPQ is nowhere near as terrible: if you try to solo it, stage 1 is the biggest time waster. And you only need three people paying attention rather than five.

I'd actually argue that the horror of uncooperative party members in LPQ stage 8 (and Magatia PQ combination stage) encourages muling. I used to duo/trio LPQ with a group where we could all do that nasty stage at top speed, and the same person would control the final two positions and click (e.g. 4/5 for "GMS method" and 7/4 for "JMS method") for maximum efficiency.

I can agree, that KPQ probably is too nostalgic and isn't too bad, but LPQ I think is still a reasonable change.

IIRC, you actually used to need 6 ppl in party to talk to the balloon npc, they made it possible with five now I think.

LPQ takes a while because more combinations, but at least majority of new players have played LPQ before.

Lmao if you’ve ever tried OPQ on this server. Probably at least 50% in your pt will be first timing it. I OPQed when Royals first fixed it, it was absolute hell.

There’s like at least 3 things off the top of my head OPQ should fix, #1 being that stupid fucking lever stage. The fact the most efficient way to do it is for everyone to whack random switches is dumb as hell.

    problem solved. get gud

Oh. and to add, on the other private server we shall not name, the LPQ bonus stage gives NX coupons. So people run LPQ regularly to get extra NX. This stage never takes more than 2 1/2 minutes when people know what they're doing.

Maybe Royals should give 100-500nx for PQ bonus stages too? :pepeboba:

There's barely enough people to run LPQ these days, let alone finding a group that understands and can actually do JMS style.
I wouldn't be against NX in prize pools (Bonus room and KPQ prize pool?)

Not sure if i can 100% follow you. Is the suggestion to decrease the amount of plattforms in these stages

    300px-MS_Kerning_PQ_Stage_4.jpg

    to 3 for KPQ and

    300px-MS_Ludi_PQ_5.jpg

    to 5 for LPQ?

No, the suggestion is that the solution should always be "123" for KPQ and "12345" for LPQ.

At this point I think the KPQ one is reasonable enough.
But I think setting LPQ to 12345 as just always the solution would be a net positive for LPQ players.

As this PQ does not create any additional challenge, slows down runs, and causes frustration.
It also has chances to bug out, and waste players time.

To sum up my solution. As long as the players put themselves on 1-2-3-4-5 the puzzle should be solved.

Oh I understand your suggestion now. You basically ask for the stage to be removed if the code players search is always the same. That’s is nothing we are going to do. Nevertheless thanks for your feedback!
