Fair enough. Good thing the other still give normal opinions about medals. Anywho, to prevent me making 2 posts without my own opinion. I dislike medals mostly due to same reasons; they are long. However, I didn't really grow up with medals at all, so for many it could maybe also be a "something you need get used to" situation, such as me. The good thing about medals is the achievement part. You can show other you like to quest, similar things. Royals could also make custom Medals such as "bug reporter" or "helper", etc. Its something fun you can experiment with.
I'm very much in favour of a ~togglemedals command. To me, this seems like the best option to keep as many players as possible happy, and I also like the idea of being able to toggle medal visibility off while doing a jump quest or so that you can see the boxes properly on stage 8 of LudiPQ. It's not a perfect solution by any means, and I do take Cyndy's point about wanting other people to see your achievement. However, it still strikes me as the best compromise, and if the default option for the medals is "visible", I imagine that's what the majority of players will go with. To address NightcoreFtw's point about medals being the beginning of free stuff that helps you in many ways: I don't see that as being the case. With the majority of medals, and certainly those that give good stats, you have to put effort in to obtain them.
Is there a way to edit the text on certain medals? I'm sure certain customized medals will really bring a unique touch.
My bad, I only had the adventurer medals and didn't see many others, except for the master quest medal. If they do require a significant amount of effort to obtain, I'm all in favor of it.
