This is something that I've wanted for a long time now but never got around to posting about. I have over ten full outfits but no easy way two switch between them (I sometimes even forget which items are part of which sets). I think it would be really cool to have a fashion NPC that can allow players to store and swap outfits easily. By talking to the NPC with a specific hair/face style and set of NX items, they should allow you to save the outfit (similar to how you can save face and hairstyles). As long as you own the items and have the matching hair/face style saved already, the NPC should automatically equip everything for you. If your current gear is incompatible with the NX items, you should get an error message until you equip the appropriate items. Once an outfit is selected, all items that are no longer in use should automatically be deposited into the cash shop. One or two slots would be enough to start with, just allow us to purchase more with RP. It would be nice to have previews of the outfits during selection, but if this isn't impossible then a list of items in text would be good enough. Also bonus points if we're allowed to store chairs. A way to organize (maybe alphabetically?) and store chairs (both tradeable and untradeable) would be greatly appreciated. I really like the idea of chair collector medals as well which could be based on how many chairs are deposited (like a collection log). If this amount changes, any medals that require a specific threshold can be revoked (just do a check when chairs are withdrawn). Of course this would only make sense if it's possible to use chairs without them actually being in your inventory (via a text command). I'm not sure if this is doable without knowledge of the codebase but I would imagine that it's possible. Regardless, just having a place to store them in the first place would be great so I wouldn't have to switch characters and trade chairs around. Anyway thanks for reading my ramblings/ideas, hopefully we can get some system like this in the future. Maybe I'm the only one that cares (because I spend more time in cash shop than I do actually playing the game) but it'd be nice to know how others feel about it.
I really like this idea as well, but I also see the dev time just not be a good ROI. There are some sites that will get you about 90% of the way there. I did a lot of my planning with https://maples.im/
I'm not talking about planning outfits, just equipping them. I hate having to go through all my items in cashshop, figure out which ones I need for a specific look then withdraw them all in order to change my outfit. When you have a bunch of different styles that you like to cycle through then it becomes a pain and it's a feature I'm happily willing to donate money for. Idk why it would be much harder than the custom hair/face NPCs unless there's something I'm missing about how the source works. I am a programmer but I can't speak with any authority on what's easy or not for the server. I'm not sure if withdrawing / depositing items in cash shop can cause any potential issues (like dupe exploits for example), but I think it should be fine as long as the NPC is coded to only handle cosmetic items. Of course I can't say for sure but I'm interested to know what makes this potentially difficult and I'd be more than willing to add this to the game myself if I had the opportunity to.
I think this is precisely what would make such a thing take more dev time than Big Headward. You've got custom code that's actually reaching in and moving around items, within a system that never expected to have the items move around in that way. Such a feature has a high probability of introducing duplication or deletion of items, so it would have to be tested extensively.
Hmm yeah I can see that being a problem. I suppose the NPC could just delete the items you're wearing and then give them back to you, that way cash shop inventory wouldn't be involved at all. As an added security measure it would also be possible for the NPC to always give you untradeable items, just to make sure you're not somehow generating fashion items (though this is probably more effort than it's worth, you're not going to make a lot of money duping and selling fashion items anyway even if it were possible). This would be no different from existing systems like in PQs where special items are removed from your inventory, it would just know which items were taken and refund them when you want them.
Maybe an npc that can save outfits or something and you pay a fee like 5m to do the switch could be a good idea. a new way to have a mesos sinker
