Kenny's apology

Just a few of my thoughts (this is not from all of Staff).

I still can't believe that things turned out this way. I looked up to you Kenny, and am shocked that you would just throw it away to make some quick cash supposedly because you were frustrated with how things were going from your perspective. I would like to think that you're remorseful, yet I see a list of excuses listed for how you broke the rules. You gave into temptation instead of remaining strong and I hope you will truly learn from this. You'll face similar crossroads in life and I hope that you can remain strong and not give into temptation/your frustrations. I truly do wish you the best with your personal goals that you're going for.

To the rest of the community, I urge you to not just read into statements that are made without facts.

• Content is still actively being developed. This is not as quick of a process when we have two developers who each have their own skillsets (Matt/Yeepog (Yeehaw)), and also new content is not as easy as just importing/testing/calling it a day. I'm sure we would all love to see this process go faster, but I actually prefer to have content that is stable rather than just mass releasing new content.
• The claim that Matt pays Becca's rent is a baseless claim that has no factual evidence behind it. Additionally, I personally know how expensive server costs can be along with the additional services that are required. Additionally, how Matt chooses to handle donations are 100% up to him. First and foremost, without Matt we would not have this server. Matt has the sole real-life risk and in my opinion and we all get to enjoy the content for free and relive our childhood memories.
• I personally don't care about getting paid for my time. I donate my time to the server, and I knew what I was getting into when I signed up. There is no time requirement for us on staff, and the Admins make it very clear that this does not take precedence over our real life commitments. Sure we could probably attempt to hire a full-time paid developer, but do people really understand how much that costs? I personally do, because I deal with that in real life. It's not cheap and you have to make huge sacrifices for a questionable amount of gain.
• I urge anyone who for some reason may think that anything that a previous staff member who went off the deep end and leaked information has merit or truth to reconsider. This previous staff member unfortunately was not stable, and chose to take a vindictive approach to the situation.
• The Admins have made changes over time in an attempt to better mitigate Staff Abuse from even happening, but it cannot be stopped entirely. There is still a level of trust, and no human is perfect. Unfortunately this leads to issues with us bringing on additional staff members. The vetting process is tough and we can't just bring people on based on their Staff Applications alone. The admins have to look into their career with the server and weigh that against whether or not they can be full trusted with elevated access. We would all love to have more staff members on board to make all processes near instant, but there is a huge risk that comes with that.

In the end, I just urge people to use common sense. Don't make baseless claims or comments without knowing the full story, and definitely don't spread rumors that are not true. There is indeed a bright future for Royals as I fully believe that the community is strong. Sure we have our issues as does any server, but I believe there is a reason that we're the top server (even with those issues). I personally look forward to only improving the way that I serve the community and I know everyone else on Staff feels that way as well.

 

Autoban is still being developed. It's not as easy to build unfortunately. I'll mention again @LovinCola, there are no facts around server donations other than it is up to Matt to determine how to best spend them. No one is being forced to donate to play. You can choose to donate and gain RP from that donation. I don't think staff should be paid and I'm a staff member. Take that how you will I guess.
