"Win mesos to perfect your items... But don't NPC them!" Tired of the grinding life? You just don't want to look at yet another Krexel or Zakum? Is sitting in the FM becoming too much of a drag? Here's your chance to take a break from all of it and even make some mesos on the side! I'll be hosting an event this month where I will be giving away 2 billion mesos as prize! Time to bring out your Maple knowledge and compete for those mesos, I'd say! This thread will mostly be to explain what the event will be like. This event could take up to 2-3 hours! There will be 3 stages, each testing your knowledge of the game, as well as your tactics and strategy. All details will be explained during the event by me, but I recommend reading this beforehand to know what awaits. Spoiler: TL; DR For those that... Stage 1: Answer questions. Win one round and you go to Stage 2. Stage 2: Find items and the next station. Rinse and repeat until you found the last map. First 7 advance to the final stage. Stage 3: Complete tasks/answer questions each round. You can earn, steal and bet points depending on what round you're on (you'll see then). Challenge rounds mean you have to 1v1 someone in a task for points. Lowest place is out every 5 rounds, until there's 3 left. In this round, it's all about Maple knowledge (and fast fingers, a bit), since all you have to do to move on to Stage 2 is answer correctly first. There will be 20 questions, each with one winner. There are 6 different categories: Trivia (Q&A) Simple. I ask a question and the first to answer wins the round. All questions are Maple-related. No One Ever Listens to Me This is all about what NPCs say. I will tell you a quote from a random NPC around Maple World, and the first to guess the NPC saying that wins. I will slowly add another quote, as well as some hints as to what the NPC does and where it is. Wheel of Fortune It's your task to guess the word I am looking for. I will gradually add letters to it. Example: "_ _ _ _ _ _" > "_ R _ _ _ _" > "A R _ _ _ _" and so on, the answer would be Archer. Name the Item! I will drop an item, the first to guess what the exact name of the item is wins. Looting the item I drop leads to disqualification. Unscramble I will jumble the letters of a word together so it spells something completely different. Hints will be given over time if no one guesses the answer. Example: "tlohrani", where the answer would be Horntail. What's This Monster?! I'll be giving you some information about a monster over time. The first to guess what monster I'm describing wins the round. The hints will be hard at first, gradually becoming easier, e.g. drops, then HP/MP/XP, then level and appearance, and finally the location. At this stage, your task will be to gather certain ETC drops from monsters around Maple World. There will be several stations, at which you will have to collect 2 or 3 items, 10 of each. Station 1: Victoria Island (3 items) Station 2: World Tour (2 items) Station 3: Orbis, Aquarium & El Nath (3 items) Station 4: Mu Lung, Herb Town & Ariant (3 items) Station 5: Ludibrium & Korean Folk Town (2 items) Everyone will start at Lith Harbor and be given a clue to locate the first station. From there onwards, you will receive the clue to find the next station, as well as the items you have to gather. Once you have reached the final station, you will receive a clue that will lead you to your final location, where I will take the items you gathered from you to check if you got all of them (total of 13 different items, 10 of each). Things you have to know: Partying together to gather items is allowed, but doesn't have to be told to me or any of those helping me organise this event. You're not allowed to use Teleport Rocks or town-specific Return Scrolls. Eos/Orbis Rock Scrolls are allowed, but I will attempt to make their use of limited/no worth. Leaving channel 9 will first lead to a warning, 2nd time will result in a disqualification. I'll have several helpers to track everyone's movement. The first 7 to arrive to the final location win and advance to the final round! This is the final barrier that is keeping you away from that pile of mesos. You will be playing against the other 6 players! The goal is to get points, as many as possible. Each round, you can earn (or lose!) a certain amount of points by answering a question or completing a task. These tasks could be Hide & Seek, Find the NPC or a Pet Park JQ, but something completely different, too! Each round will be different. There's a total of 4 different round types: Normal You are asked a question that gives x amount of points. If you answer correctly first, you win those points! Stealing This is a Normal round, except that instead of just earning points, you can choose to steal points from someone else. You can't steal points from the person in last place. Betting Before a Betting round, you can bet x of your points. If you succeed in answering your question, you will double your bet (e.g. you bet 3 points and win, so you get +3 points). If you don't answer correctly/fast enough, you lose your bet. It will not be announced what the task will be beforehand. The more you bet, the harder/more difficult the question/task will be! Use your points wisely! Challenge In a Challenge round, you face another opponent. The lower ranked person will get to choose the bet and they will face each other in a task, e.g. a Pet Park JQ. The winner takes the points from the enemy! It will not be announced what the task will be beforehand. Elimination rounds: Every 5 rounds, the person in last place will be eliminated, so prevent being there every 5th round! This will continue until there are 3 players left. The top 3 will then fight for the top ranks. What if people fill their inventories with random ETC drops from around the world, hoping to have the right ones beforehand? (They'll have a decent chance, actually.) Will you take any measures against that, for example, requiring every participant to fill their inventory with unstackable items that you give to them? <- I thought about this further and realized it's impracticable. Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in the event, but I would LOVE to see how it goes (and I'm sure many other people would aswell), so please, PLEASE, record a video of it, will you?
Just to point this out: If the server is too laggy/unstable tonight, I will cancel the event. It's normally not very bad at that time, but if it does get too messy to handle properly, I will postpone it until the new source code is finished (and the lag is over). @Vasoch Anyone showing very suspicious behaviour (like finishing really quick or moving from one station to another within a minute or two) will be disqualified, yes. I could record videos... Especially of stage 3.
