I don't think nostalgia is a valid reason against any sort of change, we all have different notions of it so there's bound to be people who find things not nostalgic, even as it is now. Having been through the hell 2nd job levels of an F/P, letting Fire Arrow hit 3 monsters sounds like a great way to balance the currently pathetic 2nd job F/P lol.
As a WZ editor I have to ask - What will happened with the way the skills look? For example, in v86 Magic Claw has 3 colors; yellow, orange, red. It changes every time you put sp in it. In v62, it only has one color which is blue, and it's a lot smaller. Same with pretty much every attack skill in each 1st job. As far as I know it will have 90 seconds cooldown regardless of how much SP you have in it. If I'm right then I'm pretty fucked up, I bought 9 sp resets not too long ago just to downgrade my SP from 10 to 1.
To be fair, they only announced that they were changing the skill sets to v.72, but not v.86. Like you said in the shout box recently, Fire Arrow hitting 3 mobs could be nostalgic for some people
I really hope the Paralyze damage increase to 240% is one of the v86 skills update to be "hand picked" by staff. It doesn't seem fair to have chain lightning have its dmg increased (in v72 so the change will likely go through with the new source) and paralyze not have its dmg increased when I/L's and F/P's have the same problem
A chain lightning (or paralyze) buff really wouldn't matter. It's still not worth using relative to ults for grinding, and it's still not worth using relative to non-mages for bossing.
it still wouldnt hurt to have it. especially with the increase to 140% for elemental amplification i'd also like the increase of meteor to 620 base dmg (but i mostly want the MP reduction). the ultimate dmg increase may not matter since most mages my lvl can one shot petris and skeles, but it would help at places where we have an elemental disadvantage (e.g. it would help f/p one shot bone fish so we can farm overall int 60%s too :c)
Sure, extra damage is always nice. It's just not a huge deal whether this happens or not. It's not what the class is about, so it's not going to make or break them. If we're going to talk about things we would "like" to have, I would "like" dark wyverns at HT to not resist ice, so that ice/lit mages can 1 hit them and actually be useful there, like F/P mages currently are. But then they would be vulnerable to freeze, which I'm pretty sure is the reason they resist ice in the first place.
Some people do boss with their mage characters even if they aren't the most viable of all classes, so I don't see why you need to speak as a representitive for all mages saying a buff for single target dmg for them shouldn't be there just because you don't boss on your own mage. If it's on the list of possible buffs, you don't have to nay-say it straight away just because :\
read my posts again. No where have i said the buff should not happen, only that (as a mage and for 99% of people who play mages other than me) it doesn't change a whole lot.
There's more mages who try to, or want to boss than you think.. So by saying a buff wouldn't matter, it's just demoralizing for those who do want to play a mage for bossing because they like the playstyle of that character, and the possibilities are that they take your feedback into consideration for leaving it out completely because you're like "oh well, most of the mages I know and myself don't boss, so no mages do".
Besides F/P, Paladin will surely love to get their hands on the v86 skills. It really balances out the warrior class nobody plays at. I had a Paladin on GMS long before v86 and the new skills are much, much better than v62.
Yeah I mean a Paladin's single target DPS will be better than a Hero's with v86 skills. Better ditch your Heroes.
All the class changes introduced in these patches were godsends and by v86 the balance between each class was the best it ever was. Each adventurer branch was still unique but their strengths were redefined, making it so the weaker classes(Archmages, Paladins, Marksmen) weren't so drastically outclassed by their popular counterparts. These weaknesses are exaggerated further when you consider the economy and rates of the server in comparison to GMS at the time Nostalgia and MapleStory to me is the current EXP tables, no potential, no big bang, and pre-BB maps. I'm perfectly fine with good content and some of the best balance decisions that were ever made as long as those aspects of the game remain. That's just my opinion however.
The numbers speak for themselves: Paladin: Blast * Holy * Lightning = 580% * 150% * 125% = 1087.5% Hero: Brandish * Combo = 260% * 2 * 190% = 988% My post was in regards to the post below, and v86 in general. I don't expect MapleRoyals to get full v86.
